Would Atlanta do this trade come Jan 15 when RUI can be traded?

DLO+RUI
FOR
Clint Capela

I would even include a pic If need, Lakers need another big along side AD

Definitely. From the Raps side though, there is no single person who would even entertain thinking about something like this.

It is like asking if we would be interested in a Poeltl+Trent+Porter+Young for Davis+Reaves trade?

it was reported that they would have taken reaves for OG. so I'm inclined to believe they are high on reaves. worst comes to worse, happy to take back Schroeder in that scenario instead of Immanuel

Hawks say No. Their biggest struggle is size, defense and rebounding. Going smaller isn't an option.

Onyeka signed extension this offseason. Hawks see him as the future at center.

This Laker team is maddening.
AD and LBJ are having incredible seasons.
AR is getting back into his form from last season.

The core supporting cast has either been inconsistent (Dlo, Rui, Vando, Prince) or non-existent (Gabe).

reddish has played well defensively in my view. Hayes and Wood have been meh.

Prince is playing better since December.

The one constant has been poor offensive sets and mind-boggling and inexplicable rotations by Ham.

Not sure a trade or two will resolve our problems.
The issues are multi-factorial.

But even if the core support cast gets its act together, I still think there is a problem with coaching and decisions made with line-ups.

We have LBJ who can be both Karl Malone and Stockton on offense and is a super smart defender, competitive and strong as a bull. He’s also our best 3PT shooter at this point of the season. Not up for trade.

We have AD who is a Bill Russell of our age defensively and can put up 40 points on any given night, who also happens to handle like a point guard and rebounds at a top tier level. Plays help defense to cover for two or three players. Not up for trade.

We have Reaves who is our future Ginobili, imo, whose slight defensive shortcomings are compensated for by a shooting % of 48 and by getting to the line at will, and by being clutch when it matters. Very competitive. Great(!) contract. Not up for trade.

Vanderbilt is a defensive beast, one of the better defenders who can truly guard 1-4 in the NBA, he doesn’t give a crap about our lame defensive system and instead does what needs to be done. His shot needs to start falling for the sake of our success for our team, should put up threes for hours every day until he’s a 3PT threat. Not up for trade, imo.

Rui stays. Clutch shooter, defends, thinks the game well, strong on the block. Not up for trade.

Prince shoots the three at 41%, plays good defense, is a smart team player a la KCP, but too small for switching when we go big. He’s been huge for us so far and one of the best positive surprises, imo. I’d include him in a bigger trade for someone like Murray, but would love for him to stay.

Hood-Schiffino is a long term great prospect who imo stays. I’m reluctant to trade him this soon. He needs a year perhaps but he’s built like a tank and a good playmaker and decent defensive prospect at 6’6”, a two-way starting PG for us to keep for the long haul, I think.

Cam has been another positive surprise for me. He’s a good defender, a smaller size Vandy who is improving his defense by the game. His 3PT shot needs to improve for him to get more minutes. His drives are often predictable and OOC. Happy to package him for a good return to a team who needs wing defense.

If I got to decide, the rest are up for trade. We need to improve perimeter defense, 3PT shooting, interior box-out rebounding, more players who think like coaches on the floor.

D Lo is an elite playmaker and a 39% 3PT shooter. His defense is not a good fit for us. His current contract is reasonable and short. Tradeable.

Caruso and Drummond would be great.

To get Dejounte Murray would be sick, but that’ll require a rotation player or two in return. DeRozan would also be great but I don’t want to part with Reaves and/or Vandy so that’s a long shot.

It’s a marathon and the NBA Cup proved that we have what’s needed. Since then all but LBJ, AD, Reaves, Prince, Vandy have sucked. Including coach Ham. I’m going to hope that Ham is teaching during games but we’re currently in the bottom half of both OFGM and FGM. No more play-in, please. LBJ’s age etc…

For me AD and Austin should not be traded. LeBron will not be traded. Everyone else is tradeable. But I would like to keep Rui and Vando. The first one that I'm willing to trade is DLo.

if we need to add another first... I'm still down. but I'd consider swapping Dlo for Spencer... with that deal

perfect trade...

hayes for Lonnie Walker

than trade gabe, A FRP and FRP swap.... Caruso and Drummond ..... (if they want vando instead of the pics, I'd pull it)

sorry.... but can't delete last post... I tried.

Side note: I see it's getting a strong return for vando if we deal with Brooklyn.... Lonnie and cam Thomas.... for vando straight up

Why would Brooklyn do that? Why would they want a barely rotation level center for a productive guard, who can shoot the 3 and is not a complete defensive liability?

Don't we want to trade Vando for Harry Giles? I mean I guess we don't, but then why would we want Brookly to do something similar?

I think Lonnie can get tax MLE level offers if he plays like this, however imo that's not the most important factor here. The fact, that Hayes is shown as complete trash by advanced metrics, kills any of the trade ideas that doesn't return an equally bad player without adding other sweeteners (like a pick).

You mention that they lack size: Yeah, it can be, but how could Hayes help them if Harry Giles, who seems to be a better player*, can't get regular minutes? What will Hayes do there? Imo absolutely nothing, he wouldn't be able to crack the rotation. The problem with him is that probably every team could get a similarly impactful player than him via the FA market: either reaching out to older players without a contract or to the G-League. He is below replacement level.

*To be back this up: Giles has a Net Rtg of -2, 0 VORP and -2.4 EPM, while Hayes has a Net Rtg of -3, -0.3 VORP and -5.1 EPM (which btw ranks him at the bottom 8% of the league)

I'm not sure If Portland would trade these guys, but recent topic on youtube, think trading for them would be good.

How do you guys feel about; Jerami Grant and Malcom Brogdon?

I'm not sure who we would trade for

Rui/Dlo plus what ever minus Ad/Bron/Reaves ... Grant's a good rebounder and might help us In that area, don't know to much about Brogdon though but I do like Grant
