I have two nieces around the same age and our family would be crushed beyond recovery if anything happened to them. I think about the other three growing up without their big sister and my stomach just curdles.

Crushing indeed. I can't even begin to imagine how I'd feel if I lost my wife or daughter. Thinking about what the victims families must be going through is absolutely heartbreaking.

I grew up on Kobe. Same generation. I admired him for all these years. Even after becoming a Clippers fan, I never stopped being a Kobe Bryant fan.

It really feels like he was not done, so to speak. He was going to help define/develop the coming generation, the culture... through his daughters, and in business, and as an ambassador around the world, etc. Fphhh... This just doesn't seem right.

Natalia is 17 she'll be the one kid to remember this moment in her life for the rest of her life. Capri and BIanka will not know those memories because they are too young to understand. I feel so bad for Natalia losing her little sister...

As a Mavs fan I never liked the Lakers or Kobe because he put a dagger in my team a few times. But, I always respected Kobe. And today, I feel terrible for Laker nation. Massive loss of a real legend to the game. Consider me a Laker fan today.
The Mavs are dead to me now.

Vince carter is older than Kobe, and is still playing.

Cuban says no Dallas Maverick will ever wear 24 again. They will retire 24.

All teams should follow suit.

I'm gutshot all over again... I had things to do today and had to spend time with my daughter, but I came back in and started catching up and I'm just overwhelmed again...

When Kobe was playing, I always hated on him because of the colors on his jersey. I have been a Kings fan my whole life and Kobe’s great play got in the way of my team finally achieving success in the early 2000s. Even though I hated on the Lakers then, I could never ever say that Kobe wasn’t good. He was incredible. His competitive spirit was so rare and I always had extreme respect for how he approached the game. That Mamba mentality was/is so inspiring.

This is just so tragic. Pray for Vanessa and her children.

RIP Kobe and Gianna.

Part of me is still convincing me that I'm in messed up nightmare, even though I'm already up for hours, in the office working, and have spoken to many about the incident. Can't believe we lost a family member, an inspiration, a truly amazing person on and off the court.

It'll never be Mamba out for me...

I guess it's all finally set in... I'm going through the GB thread and like... I appreciate all the love, but I can't even read that **** right now...
Just Doc, West, Cuban's tribute, and Alicia Keys and Boys2men... I'm done.

I think the NBA Logo should be "24"... We don't even need an image.

I, along with the rest of the Philadelphia 76ers fanbase, would like to send our deepest condolences to your team on the loss of one of the all-time greats in NBA history, Kobe Bryant. I was so sad I could not concentrate on anything the whole day. :(

My 18 year old son just went to work wearing his Kobe jersey . He works at a local frozen yogurt place.
He hasn’t said one word since the news broke out. But looks like he’s figuring out a way to cope a little bit.
