I dont think the Lakers will make any splashes in FA in 2020, theyre gonna preserve ALL of the 2021 cap space for a run at 3rd superstar.

in 2020 FAI see KCP opting out, then resigning an inflated 1+1 team option deal liek say at 20ish mil.

Sign MLE and BAE at 1+1 team options. Ideally the team can resign DHo and Rondo to minimums, but if they want mroe money, might just have to sign them using the MLE and BAE to give them raises while not giving an extra year.

http://www.shamsports.com/capulator?id=968466675f7d07440a1d8495578418

Hell the biggest surprise might be AD opting into his player option then re-signing to the super max veteran designation deal next FA. According to Capulator if AD opts in next year, his cap hold is only at 35% of the cap, then renounce ALL of the FAs, including Lebron, and there's space to sign a 3rd superstar for 35% max, and then sign Lebron to like 32-33mil.

If Lebron wants to stack rings, he needs to bring in another younger superstar, so he can transition fulltime to a playmaker role. And the only way to bring in another star is to be willing to take a paycut.

KCP makes my point regarding chemistry. The trust and cohesion built in, and then watching him deliver tonite. That kinda stuff ain't easy to trade away and then get back with an unknown player.

Lakers dont need a 3rd star at all. What they need are knock down shooters. Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma gotta go.

Green, Cook, McGee, Bradley, Kuz and 28th selection for CP3.

Would it be worth it? Too much?

I'd do that in a second - OKC too should be looking to get out from under that contract.

But Rondo vs CP3 can get interesting later

Green + for JJ Reddick or Green + Kuz for Fournier + something

Also CP3 would be interesting if we could get him (about 8 years late).

Thoughts on this?

LA trades: Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, Talen Horton Tucker, 2020 LAL 1st (28)
LA receives: Norman Powell, Seth Curry

Dallas trades: Delon Wright, Seth Curry, 2020 DAL 1st (18)
Dallas receives: Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, 2020 LAL 1st (28)

Toronto trades: Norman Powell
Toronto receives: Delon Wright, Talen Horton Tucker, 2020 DAL 1st (18)

Trading THT and our FRP? Why don’t we just sign Mo Harkless and a shooter taller than Curry as a FA? Curry is a poor defender too. Then we can draft another 3&D wing.

I wouldn't mind Norman Powell, but i'm not sure if he's that big of an upgrade over Green and Kuz. Over the course of the season and these playoffs Danny Green has been solid as hell on both ends of the floor and while he isn't hitting shots now, he still has a lot of gravity out there as a shooter.

I like how Markieff has fit in, I hope we sign him back. And Dwight as well.

Lakers need a knockdown shooter like Curry. KCP is getting there.

Kieff, Howard, Rondo are important pieces to return. I would also like to see Bradley return too.

Upgrade the ends where Cook, Dudley, Waiters and Smith positions.

That means we have 1-2 spots for a FA signing depending on what we do with draft picks this year and last year. Adding a 3&D wing forward FA and getting a bit younger are the two primary concerns.

Bradley probably won't play next season either. If he didn't play in the bubble, why would he play now?

"Another move is Oladipo who has garnered interest across the league. He was told that the Lakers have the best shot. He mention a possible four way deal with Ball to Indy including Atlanta landing Danny Green, Turner/Doug to MIN, Ball, LAL 1st, Kuzma, and Johnson to IND, and Oladipo to the LAL.
The Lakers have identified KCP as the prime priority to resign and would love to keep Dwight, Morris, and Rondo. The big target for the Lakers will be Tristian Thompson and Josh Jackson in FA. He was told Cleveland will also try to resign TT."

Not sure if legit but it seems to fit the agenda of the teams involved.

LAL give: Green, Kuzma, 28th pick
LAL get: Oladipo

ATL get: Green

MIN give: Johnson, 1st pick
MIN get: Turner, McDermott

IND give: Oladipo, Turner, McDermott
IND get: Johnson, Kuzma, 1st pick, 28th pick

PG: Bradley | Rondo | Cook
SG: Oladipo | Caruso | THT
SF: LeBron | KCP | Jackson
PF: Davis | Markieff | Kostas
C : TT | Howard | McGee

Seems quite unrealistic tbh that we'd be able to land Oladipo in a deal

Convincing Carmelo to come for a Ring and a redemption tour for Cousins seems more realistic.

D'antoni may become Indy's new coach and he seems to like Kuzma. Kuzma is a good fit for his offense at the PF. I kind of think it makes more sense for Green to go to Indy and Johnson to go to Hawks.

Still it does seem unrealistic but at the same time, Oladipo is a 1 year rental and he has said that he wants to play for championships over money.

After having seen Oladipo's numbers for the last two years perhaps this isn't as far fetched as i initially thought. His numbers are kinda pedestrian and for a player that rely a lot on athleticism i think coming off two injury-riddled seasons can be risky.

Yes it's a risk but Oladipo is still young enough to recover to 90% of form.

An alternative I like is Norman Powell and I worked on a trade in the trade board that works with the other teams:

LA trades: Avery Bradley, Kyle Kuzma, JaVale McGee, 2020 LAL 1st (28)
LA receives: Norman Powell, Delon Wright

Dallas trades: Delon Wright, 2020 DAL 1st (18)
Dallas receives: Avery Bradley, Kyle Kuzma

Toronto trades: Norman Powell
Toronto receives: 2020 DAL 1st (18), 2020 LAL 1st (28), McGee

Lakers lineup would be:

PG: LeBron | Rondo | Cook
SG: KCP | Caruso | Wright
SF: Powell | Green | THT
PF: Davis | Markieff | Kostas
C : Howard | Boogie

All good except for the Boogie part. I haven't seen him make a full season yet.
