3 trade scenarios

I like the first one, acquiring a 3&D player like Royce O'Neal. Career 38.6% from 3.

meh on this one. Not sure if Hield is so much better than Beasley.

I'm okay with this too.

I'd do all these deals.

Beasley, Bamba, Vando, Christie, #17 for DeRozan and Caruso.

I've been beating this drum for the last month.

LeBron: $46.9
AD: $40.6
DeRozan: $28.6
Caruso: $9.5
Reaves: $12.2
Rui: $15.0

$153M salary. 6 bonafide playoff guys.

- Re-sign Russell to a team friendly deal, 2 years starting at 15M
- Sign Chris Paul, Aaron Holiday, Justin Holiday to vet minimums
- Sign Troy Brown, Wenyen Gabriel to vet minimum deals from last years roster
- Sign Plumlee to tax MLE

PG: Paul/Russell/A Holiday
SG: Reaves/Caruso/J Holiday
SF: DeRozan/Brown Jr/
PF: LeBron/Rui/
C: Davis/Plumlee/Gabriel

That's a deadly playoff roster. Paul/Reaves/DeRozan/LeBron/Davis/Caruso/Rui are for sure playoff guys in the deepest rounds of the playoffs. Russell will be able to hang until he's schemed out in the later rounds against the great teams.

Malik Beasley and vando... for trent Jr and a second round pick

Bamba, D'Angelo (first year garunteed only) and #17 for Caruso and DeRozan

but the trade that I feel is most important for the Lakers is trading AD to Portland.... AD for sharpe, Simmons, and #3. we can flip #3, Beasley, Bamba to Brooklyn for bridges and claxton

I like Caruso and DeRozan that ill throw in Beasley and even Christie to get those 2 players but I don't see why Toronto trade their 2nd Round pick just to absorb a defender who can't shoot and a shooter who struggled in the playoffs.
I think it's Toronto that would ask for picks if the Lakers want Trent Jr.

3 trade scenarios

Lakers receive: Royce O’Neale, No. 21 pick and a future second

Nets receive: Mo Bamba and the No. 17 pick

I like the first one, acquiring a 3&D player like Royce O'Neal. Career 38.6% from 3.
Lakers receive: Buddy Hield, No. 26 and No. 32

Pacers receive: Malik Beasley and No. 17

meh on this one. Not sure if Hield is so much better than Beasley.
Lakers receive: Gary Trent Jr and a future second

Raptors receive: Malik Beasley, Shaq Harrison and No. 17

I'm okay with this too.

It's a great roster esp if they get CP3 and I like Justin Holiday too but there are loud rumors that they will need to pay Reaves way above 12.2 Mil, probably like 18-20 mil. I'm also done with Troy Brown Jr and I only sign Russell for 1-2 years and no way above 15 Mil.

Bruce brown has entered free agency. At 6'5, we can become stronger defensively. Pair him up with Reeves and Schroeder and we would solid enough defensive back Court

We should either offer Beasley, Bamba and 17th for either myles turner or pascal siakam. Maybe preferably Siakam cuz having both Turner and AD will sort of clog the lane cuz both are so tall and thick. Even though both are capable playing PF/Center.

Because of Reaves' restricted free agency rules, the max he can get with the Lakers is $12.2M in the first two years of the deal.

However another team can come along and if they have $20M in cap space, they can offer him a 4 year deal starting at $20M. Let's pretend it's a flat $20M a year and it's a 4 year, 80 million deal. His contract in that scenario would be $20M in the first year with whatever team it is.

However if the Lakers matched that contract, the contract structure for the Lakers would be:

Year 1: $12.2M
Year 2: $12.2M
Year 3: $27.8M
Year 4: $27.8M

Another thing to keep in mind with Reaves is this:

The NBA has a 5 day moratorium that ends on July 6th. The 3 days to match for the Lakers wouldn't start until that date which means if another team wanted Reaves, they'd have to hold their cap space until July 9th and risk missing out on the other pieces during that entire time.

Think back to when we wanted Kawhi and he took his sweet ass time making the decision. All of the players we wanted signed elsewhere and weren't willing to wait for Kawhi to make his decision. The only ones who were: Danny Green, KCP, Javale, DeMarcus Cousins, Quinn Cook.

Are other teams like Houston or San Antonio going to wait until July 6th to make an offer for Reaves knowing full well the Lakers will match and they'll miss out on pieces in the process? I'm not so sure.

Siakam just averaged 24 pts, 8 rebs and 6 assists and Toronto is giving him up for a shooter who struggled last playoffs and a young center who was injured and failed to flourish in Orlando?
I'm betting they'll consider it for OG but not Pascal.

My prediction -

If Lakers keep the pick:

select Jett Howard

If Lakers trade the pick:

#17 and Beasley to Indiana for #26, #40 and Buddy Hield.

Lakers need to offer 17/Beasley/bamba for tyus Jones and Daniel gafford. Immediately solves two biggest problems and then we can Snt D’Angelo hopefully for something half decent if he agrees to a good contract
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

I think this playoffs has shown that we have a decent core, so we should build on this by improving without sacrifices. What I mean here is that if we can get someone without sending out a core player, then do it, if not, then keep the mentioned player.

From that angle: Our core players are:
-LBJ
-Davis
-Reaves
-Rui
-Vando
The others are expendables. The big decisions around them are these:
1;Keep, trade or simply let DLo go?
2;Which one to keep: Lonnie or Beasley?
3;What to do w/ the pick?
4;Keep or let Schroeder go?

First I'd like to see what is the deal for Russell: if we can agree at a contract starting around 15m, then maybe there are buyers for him. I'd try to offer the MLE for Vincent and if he agrees, then try to work out a Russell+47 for Vincent trade w/ the Heat.

Then I'd try to use the pick together w/ one of our players to get a starter level player, who is defense first, but is okay enough on offense to stay on the floor (which was the biggest problem w/ Vando). I'd maybe target Myles Turner w/ a Bamba+Christie+17 offer.

Then I'd let Beasley go and sign Lonnie (BAE) and Schroeder (5m from the tax payer MLE) and then try to fill out the rest of the roster w/ vet min players. Something like this:

Vincent/Schroeder/Aaron Holiday
Reaves/Lonnie
James/Rui/Troy Brown
Davis/Vanderbilt
Turner/Thompson/Dedmon

Beasley looked Really good until he wore that laker uniform. Now I can’t help but wonder if all of a sudden Buddy loses his touch too or Ham hates his defense and just bench him.
I prefer they trade that pick for a 3&D player like Kerami Grant, DFS or Royce O Neal.

Would love FVV and if this is on the table it might happen. But they have to make some other moves first.

However,

Resign current guys (D'Lo, keep Beasley and Bamba). Then flip that same package during the season for a disgrutled roleplayer.

D'Lo + "Beasley, Bamba, Schiffino"-trade might be better than FVV. And we wont be hardcapped.

Lakers 2023 FAs & TOs

Post#200 » by Syko_boB » Sat Jun 24, 2023 5:00 pm

With only 6 players currently signed, the Lakers have a lot to discuss and decide on when Free Agency starts in the coming days

I'm interested in seeing who we love, and need to bring back at all costs, but also who we've seen enough of, and who we hope doesn't get a call from Rob & Darvin when the FA period opens up

-----

Free Agents:

Restricted FA

Rui Hachimura
Austin Reaves

Unrestricted FA

D'Angelo Russell
Dennis Schroder
Lonnie Walker
Troy Brown Jr
Wenyen Gabriel
Tristan Thompson
Scottie Pippen Jr

-----

Team Options / Non-Guaranteed contracts:

Mo Bamba ~ $10m - guaranteed on 6/29
Malik Beasley ~ $16m - guaranteed on 6/29
Shaq Harrison ~ $2m - guaranteed on 01/10

-----

Two-Way Contracts:

Cole Swider
D'Moi Hodge
Colin Castleton

-----

Current roster with guaranteed contracts:

Anthony Davis ~ $40m
LeBron James ~ $53m
Jared Vanderbilt ~ $5m
Max Christie ~ $2m / Max Lewis ~ $2m
Jalen Hood-Schifino ~$3m

-----

Discussion:

1) RFA - I can't imagine anyone would be satisfied with losing Reaves or Hachimura, but, is there a deal another team could offer that you'd be ok with letting them walk for?

2) UFA - Who do we definitely need to bring back next year?

Who is more important - D'Lo or Dennis, Tristan or Wenyen, Lonnie or Troy

3) TO - Would you keep any of them in hopes of making the rotation, or dangling as expiring trade pieces all season

4) 2W - We are allowed 3 Two-Way deals, and with the 2 new additions, Hodge & Castleton, & with Swider on the 2nd season of a 2 year 2-Way contract, it looks like Pippen Jr is on his way out

Are you satisfied with these 3 for now, or would you prefer to keep Pip around?

5) FA shopping - What UFAs from other teams are you hoping we can steal?

6) Trading Block - Which players are you willing to deal that we currently have under contract, and what would you be looking for in return?

7) Your Vision - Show your dream rotation & describe what you're aiming for

-----

Here's mine:

Match any offer for Hachimura/Reaves
Re-sign Walker/Thompson/Schroder
Trade Bamba/picks for Kelly Olynyk
Trade Beasley/picks for Monte Morris or Delon Wright & Danilo Gallinari
Sign Naz Reid to MLE
Sign Stanley Johnson to Vet Min

My Final Roster:

Reid / Olynyk / Thompson
Davis / Vanderbilt
James / Hachimura / Johnson
Morris / Walker / Christie
Reaves / Schroder / Hood-Schifino
free palestine

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
