Mma is cool but when theyre rolling around and grappling for extended periods it tends to get tedious

Boxing has more fluidity and therefore is more aesthetically pleasing

MMA is more entertaining to anyone who can appreciate the art of grappling and jujitsu. The level of boxing in mma is, for the most part, pathetic. I enjoy watching mma more, not many boxing matches are entertaining anymore.

Fighting fans in general enjoy both. I'd say MMA is more exciting due to the complexity and variety of disciplines involved so somehow it is unfair to even compare it to boxing that has no ground, grappling, kicks, etc. if you can't call boxing a form of fighting sport then I'll just think you're trolling. I wouldn't even dare get in a fight with a pro boxer even if he has gloves on what is the matter with you.

now if we replace pro boxing to "pro wrestling" then an argument can be made.

I may be too sensitive about the "small Filipinos sort of fight" statement but I can't understand why you said that. clearly there was no intent whatsoever to knock out his opponent so that could be your sort of fighting definition.

I'll try to justify that idiotic post.

Pro boxing is one of the most technically demanding, physically exhausting sports ever. You just cannot compare an MMA fighter to pro boxer in any way. Just the endurance training required for most boxing matches would put 90% of the MMA rednecks in a hospital.

There's a reason the sport is huge and draws sponsorships from Nike, gets shown on HBO etc whereas your biggest UFC events are sponsored by Cellulite nutrition or some crap like that.

come on, thats a stupid argument and you know it. UFC fighters are just as highly conditioned and trained as any boxer. in fact, they have to go through more variety of training which could be argued is a lot harder than just focusing on one area. you cant just have a strong standup game in MMA, you have to have some level of grappling and ground game.

MMA fighters arent just guys that like getting into bar fights, this isnt royce gracie fighting 300 pound neanderthals anymore, they are high level athletes. just look at Jon Jones, dude is a beast, he would be successful in probably any sport he put his mind to.

well boxing has been around a lot longer, is a lot more established, and doesnt carry the stigma that MMA currently does for older generations.

UFC sponsors are targeted towards the 18-30 something demographic they target. bud light, workout supplements, video games (EA, Ubisoft), and ultimate poker. and nike sponsors fighters, its only a matter of time before they sponsor events.

oh yeah and lets not pretend boxing is perfect. the fact that there is multiple belts and guys can be champs without having to fight the best guys at there weight is ridiculous. we were deprived of the dream pacman-mayweather fight because both guys could call themselves champs without ever having to fight one another (among other reasons).

i like both but MMA is on the rise and boxing is on the decline. just the way it is. not a lot of pure boxers left anymore.

I agree with your argument that the best guys rarely fight each other, the boxing regulation has been a joke since the mid 90s when the heavyweight belt was at its peak. That's one of the reasons I gravitated away from the sport for a long time. Its a shame because its a great sport and if managed and regulated properly could be a major cash cow with a popularity that could rival the NFL.

theres pretty much nothing more corrupt than boxing, and ultimately that will be its demise. for me boxing died with Roy Jones Jr anyways (i know he still fights but dudes been done for awhile).

I do enjoy the cocky showmanship fighters exhibit in MMA than in boxing though. Anderson Silva > Roy Jones Jr if. I may use that example. though Ali is in another planet.

There's an Indian guy that comes to my gym and he smells like rotten onions. I'm literally having to bury my face in my t-shirt every time I have to pass by him. He still doesn't get the hint.
