Actually, I never been to Asia before. This is actually the first time I ever been outside the US.
I work for two international companies; would never think of working for a local company here. One is in commercial real estate, and the other, is administrative office work. So yeah I get free rent and a nice salary with potential for more if our projects are complete. I get to work at home in my home office and only go to the real office if I need to see a client or do a presentation.
One day soon, if things pick up, I'll definitely be traveling more to Beijing, Hong Kong, and other cities in South East Asia. So I'm here for the long haul unless some war breaks out with VN and China or all 20+ projects I'm working on go down the tubes.

I'm close to SB... actually playing the radio station up there tonight for some live radio on KCSB 91.9fm
or webcast here:

Anybody still on campus at UCSB? I'll be at storke tower tonight.
The food here is definitely good. It's even better that it cost the fraction of you normally pay in California. I had a nice dinner the other night and took 4 of my friends out. I think the total bill came to under $30 which is a lot for VN standards, but cheap when you compare to the US.
Literally, there are decent places to eat Pho for $1 or $2 at some good restaurants. The stuff on the street is like $0.25 or less and some of it is the best in town.
Only gripe on food is that good quality beef is hard to come by. Some of the food in Little Saigon in Orange County is actually better to me. It's also cleaner.
But there are really expensive US priced restaurants here. Only go there if I need to impress a client or have some business meeting. Otherwise, I cook at home and know what I'm eating.
And it doesn't hurt that 70% of the population is in their 20's and there are women everywhere I go.
I'll check out the web cast if I'm awake. Its 3:30 AM here right now.
