Arguing it is not a bad thing, you're just presenting a bad argument.

im not. but would u want to know where kobe is if the tyson chandlers of the world are included?

kobe is equal 68th this season

take guys that play <30 mpg out, and there's your 20 players ahead of kobe

MistyMountain20 wrote:Toss aside your subjective wording of "semi-efficient", how is Kobe not in the upper-echelon of efficiency. I hope you're not including the Tyson Chandlers or the world into your top efficiency players.

HURMMMM

Aki wrote:you just answered your own question. take lebron, take the league avg and kobe's pretty much smack bang in the middle. he's always been in the mid-upper echelons of efficiency, but never at the top. OTOH i don't remember him in the top 5% of efficiency (thats top 20) in any year

as of right now, all you're arguing is exactly the same thing i'm arguing

except, i'm a glass half-empty guy, you're a glass half-full guy

Uh, no, the point is to compare him to players relative to his scoring production

go on, how does he compare against lebron, durant, melo, harden, westbrook, curry and wade?

i mean, if we're comparing him against players relative to his scoring production?

give you a hint, he's only better than westbrook/melo

that's not taking into account big men

And now your structuring an argument. Go list the points scored coupled with their efficiency.

lol i just took the top 8 comparable wing scorers and compared their TS%. i just stratify with those 7 guys and kobe's 3rd last.

kobe's on .570 TS%. which would put him in the "same echelon" of efficiency as curry (.589), wade (.571), melo (.560) and westbrook (.532).

whereas lebron and durant are both shooting stupid .640 TS%. harden is .600 TS%

at a league median of .513 TS%. like i said, (lebron + league median)/2 = kobe

semi-efficient

efficiency is not as simple as looking at TS%. youre ignoring turnovers, what kind of shots these guys are taking, how much they are handling the ball, etc.

TS% just measures scoring efficiency, thats it. it doesn't actually tell you how efficient a player is, nor does it really tell you whether that efficient scoring is helpful, example: Adrian Dantley. or for that matter, Kevin Martin.

you mean half?

lebron = efficient, league median = average.

(efficient + average)/2 = semi-efficient

I'll respond to this later, but you're still making the mistake of looking at raw TS% with no context. And looking at the median TS% is a umm, weird choice.

all this debate is centred around is the fact i called kobe only semi-efficient compared to lebron.

lol, no debate is going to change my mind to call kobe "efficient" instead of just "semi-efficient" on my scale of non-efficient to efficient

and i took the median (ie the 225th player in efficiency), because i couldn't have been stuffed calculating the actual average of all 450+ players

my scale has arguably more validity when you realise TS% goes from a scale from 0-150%, not 0-100%

but who shoots only 3pt shots and hits 100% of them??

why don't you elaborate?

because to me, 3 TOs per game for his career is 1.5 TOs per game too much

If you guys are going to bicker about stats go to the PC board.

Watch out for Kobe haters especially that ray ban fellow.
