I wonder if we could snag Cauley-Stein with the Houston pick. He'll probably go before that but a rim protector in the mid to late 1st round would be a steal. And I can do Mudiay since I can watch all of his games.

It look like you could end up with a top5 with your pick and a pick20 from Houston.
That's a good get, a perimeter player, likely a PG, and a Center should be the objectives.
Best possibility is Mudiay+Cauley-Stein.

Who's better, Marcus Lee or MCS ?
Is Mudiay the best wing in the draft ? Could he play fulltime SG ? how about his off the ball movement ?

Re: Official 14-15 NCAA/Draft Discussion Thread
Mudiay is a PG, he got really good instincts as a lead guard, he plays with more poise than Wall did at the same stage.
He struggle with his shooting right now, but he is the only guy in this class with a superstar ceiling, Okafor is the other one that could be close, but I see him in a tier below.
Lee is a PF going forward, I like him a lot but I don't think he will declare this year, he wont get enough playing time.
Willie Cauley-Stein is ready to play right away, he got some Anderson Varejao/Robin Lopez in his game, he is dumb sometimes, but is a Junior with more advanced game than the other options, the only chance that he will be around the 20th pick is because of his seniority and the McGee comps. in terms of being dumb, but WCS is, I believe, not that terrible.
Mudiay and WCS is the absolute best the Lakers could get, I don't see Okafor or Towns as good fit with Randle defensively, although ofensively Randle-Towns could work really well, so I'd say, that is more uncertain, if you fall out of the top3, I'd go with Stanley Johnson and try to snatch either a PG, Rysheed Jordan/Terry Rozier/Delon Wright, or WCS with the Houston pick.
A possible upside pick with that pick is also Amida Brimah for UConn.

Re: Official 14-15 NCAA/Draft Discussion Thread
If the Lakers do end up with a top-5 pick, I'm hoping they target a SF such as Justice Winslow, Kelly Oubre, or Stanley Johnson. Drafting a young big man could take longer develop and is a little bit more risky than drafting a PG or a SF/SG. Of the 3 prospects I mentioned above, I really hope they have Stanley Johnson on their radar. He's a freshman at Arizona. He's 6 foot 7, around 235 lbs. He's also somewhat of a local kid as he grew up in Fullerton,Ca and won 4 straight Open Division California titles at Mater Dei High School. Some of his notable strengths are(via draftexpress): great athlete; gets into the passing lanes, extremely aggressive in the open floor, solid ball-handling; plays with a lot of emotion, very competitive; can make outside shots with feet set and sometimes off the dribble;makes the extra pass not a selfish player; has great vision when finding the open man. Some notable weaknesses(via draftexpress): needs to work on his shot consistency; take better shots; improve ball-handling.
Overall, he's a young kid who has all intangibles and does a little bit of everything to produce at the next level. Currently, Draft Express has him at #9 on their mock draft.

Even has his own short-documentary

If we can't get Cauley-Stein at 15, would anyone be opposed to going for a pass first point guard such as Tyus Jones or Kasey Hill with the Houston pick?

Unathletic Big with no range or rim protection.
There is much better options.
Funny video from Johnson and Randle :

This draft is loaded with centers, so I wouldn't mind trading up for someone like Cauley-Stein or Hazrell or picking whichever one falls with the Houston pick. ****, I'd be totally happy if Fran Kaminsky is available there.

Kamimsky is not a rim protector. You might as well ride it out with Kelly if you're going for Kamimsky

He's not bad and definitely improved on using that verticality on defense. 1.7 bpg and 39% from 3, could be a very good compliment to Randle.

Kelly shot 42% from the college 3 in his senior year and averaged 1.6 blocks a game. His blocks per 36 last year rested at 1.2. I can't say I really know that much about Kamimsky because I haven't really followed the Badgers that much, but I'm worried that there's a bit of a skill set overlap here.

Okafor has looked real nice early on.
And jesus, Kentucky is a D-League team playing D1 basketball. They are really stacked.

I know these are just highlights from one game (the first one I clicked on)...but man he looks bad. I'm not sold on Okafor as our guy, yet. [not to say we'll even get a top 3]
If anyone has the context surrounding the game I'd love to be enlightened.

Count me in Ty! I know guys will want the top prospect so I'll cover Willie Cauley-Stein of Kentucky. He could be a Anthony Davis type if a coach can realize where his strength is right away. So I'll cover him...Fun facts: William is a mixed race child, raised by his white grand parents, he's also a former football player his position was wide receiver.
