Re: Other draft picks
With Deng moving to PF and Randle there, it makes sense to draft for need at SF. MWP will also be gone next year. That said...
We are far from a complete team.
We are far from done with making trades.
We are far having a talented team.
This will not be our competitive team in 3 years time. What we need is to draft the Best Player Available!! We can always trade away Randle or whoever when the time comes for the right players. But to do those things, we need to have the right athletic assets and that means adding the BPA in this loaded draft at PF, unless the BPA is a SF. We can always pickup a serviceable player from the D-League to help us until we are within striking distance to the top of the league.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers trade the pick.

Re: Other draft picks
Imagine the Lakers pick Jayson Tatum with the top 3 pick then add Giles with the Houston pick. We would have all Duke team here.
Dlo/Clarkson/FA vet
BI/Nwaba
Tatum/BI/Brewer
Randle/Giles/Deng
Zubac/Black/Moz
Seriously, with Dlo improving his game and assist level and vision, we might only look to add a vet FA here (for 2nd unit) and try for a few wings instead of a point guard. I wouldnt mind adding Tatum and a high upside pick like Giles with the Houston pick. We could also go safe and add Swanigan/Rabb/Leaf/Motley with the Houston pick.
Then bring in Frank Mason and/or Marcus Keene if they go undrafted.

Re: Other draft picks
Good read on Giles' potential as the #1 draft pick in high school to mental issues that he is dealing with after 2 injuries...
http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/dukes-harry-giles-is-living-in-the-shadow-of-his-former-self-but-he-sees-light/
I think Giles goes late first or will most likely fall to second round. I wish we had a mid-second rounder to use on this kid.
Others:
Peter Jok. He just won the 3 point shooting contest. The kid shot over 90% from FT line this year. Not bad at 6'6" SG.

Re: Other draft picks
One potential candidate with the #28th pick or 2nd rounder is Johnathan Motley. Here is some info on him:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2700551-nba-mock-draft-justin-jackson-trending-up-after-march-madness-breakout
Bleacherreport has Motley to Lakers at #28 (Swanigan is #30).
Motley:
"Johnathan Motley made significant improvements this year to strengthen his 2017 first-round case.
He nearly doubled his assist rate to 17.3 percent and finished with one of the top rebounding percentages (19.2 percent) among first-round prospects. Motley still looked limited to scoring within 15 feet, but his footwork, hands and mid-range touch remain promising.
Just searching for an additional contributor on a rookie contract, the Los Angeles Lakers can grab Motley for frontcourt depth behind Julius Randle and Ivica Zubac."
6'9"
7'3.5" wingspan
21 but will turn 22 soon.
17.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 26.6 PER
Motley's mid range shot is improving, he runs the floor, and he can help protect the rim as an athletic PF/C.

If we keep our first rounder this year, then Orlando gets out second rounder in 2017 and 2018. 76er get our 2018 first rounder without exception.
If we lose our first rounder to 76ers this year, then Orlando gets our first rounder in 2019 and we keep all our second rounders.
Ah, okay. Thanks!

Re: Other draft picks
Frank Mason wins the Oscar Robertson USBWA Trophy.
Mason could be a steal but most likely a late 2nd rounder or might even be undrafted. Crazy but he is one of the oldest players on this year's draft at 23 years old and 5'9" to 5'10" if that. He is a general on the floor who can shoot but unfortunately not super athletic and possible a Derek Fisher type of player. He will most likely be sent to D-League and could be a solid bench guy down the line.

Re: Other draft picks
Jordan Bell is the player i'd pick with the Houston pick(or 2nd rounder if we keep it). What he did vs Kansas was just crazy. Single handily carried that defense. 6'10, crazy good athlete, can defend the perimeter. Just got to mold him into an average offensive player and he can be a starter in this league.

I can get behind Bell if we don't go Euro with the Houston pick. We need a shutdown defender desperately. Defense is apart of his DNA. Great call.

I haven't had a chance to see much of Nwaba. Does he have lock down defender potential?

Athletic, defensive-minded rebounder with a developing touch around the rim. He improved his FT% from .500 to over .700% this year. Unless some of the top players fall, I think Bell would be a keeper with the Houston pick. See for yourself...

Imagine a Larry Nance Jr. - Jordan Bell combo... Defensive nightmares for other teams.

Only 1 game but might have to rethink about Bell after college player Meeks worked him over. Ouch!!

Re: Other draft picks
With the Rockets pretty much locking up their spot in the west, they have a chance to fall a few spots in the draft as they rest their starters. Utah is #4 in the west and 4.5 games behind Houston. From the east, Boston and Cleveland trail the Rockets by 1.5 and 2 games respectively. We need to hope Rockets fall a few games and Boston/Cleveland win so that our Houston pick moves up from #28 towards #26.

Re: Other draft picks
According to nbadraft.net, they have us now taking Justin Jackson. I dont know why his stock is falling but it is. He would be a good SF to pick up who can defend and score.

What about Luke Kennard with Houston's pick?

I'd definitely take him, we need his shooting.

No thanks on Kennard. He is a turnstile on defense. We don't need that.

Re: Other draft picks
If we fall out of top three our first round draft pick conveys to Philly? (If that's wrong please correct me) Is there anything we can reasonably offer Philly prior to lottery night to get them to let us keep our pick even if we get unlucky and land outside of top three?
Perhaps offering our late first round pick from Houston plus Randle or Nance or??? Don't eviscerate me for this post. I'm just trying to come up with ways we can ensure equity from our position.
