If you were to ask me this before Kawhi's injury, absolutely. However, you don't see many great players bounce back to their old form (Russ was probably the last person that came back from a serious injury that didn't lose a step). I've seen it way too often than not for players to recover to their old form. What makes it tough is the fact that he's going to demand a max deal and I'm not quite sure if his body will handle the style of play the Lakers have been pushing for.

If Kawhi was healthy I'd do it. His position on the SA team dictates that he's a shoot first player so I see his assist stats as a product of the system not indicative of his value as a passer. A healthy Kawhi can defend at a level we don't have. I like what I've seen in Ingram but I'd do this trade if it were available.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the Spurs system and BI being forced to be the PG, right? Even Tony Parker only had 2 seasons as the full time PG where he averaged +7 APG. Put Kawhi in a system where he is forced to be a playmaker and he would average +4,5 APG. And how about comparing their turnovers? If Kawhi is healthy and you are sure that you can land another All Star, you trade him for Kawhi ASAP. Ball, Kawhi and George on perimeter defense would be annoying for nearly every opponent

The idea is that we add a star to this core, not to trade them away in order to add a star.
Since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

PG: Luka / Vincent / Smith
SG: Reaves / Knecht / Bronny
SF: Smart / LaRavia / Thiero

Not if he's injury prone I mean this is a set up by the Spurs to see us fail.

I got ingram, kuzma, and than lonzo.

1) Ingram 2) Ball 3) Kuzma 4) Hart

I think Ingram, George and Leonard can run offenses without a point guard. So if Leonard comes back this season and shows himself to be healthy, Ball/Kuzma/Deng/picks trade for Leonard might make sense.

There is not a thing Ingram, George and Leonard cant do on offense. Stretch the floor with 3s, drive to the basket, post ups, midrange game. And theyd be monsters on defense. Thats without LeBron. So you'd still have ability to resign/match Randle and pick up other pieces. You could probably resign Lopez for cheap. If DJordan opts out, he might be a reasonable fit if you wanted to go that direction. Ingram/George/Leonard plus room can compete with the Warriors and Rockets next season.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

After doing all the hard work on Ingram and suffering through the growing pains now when the time is near for us to bear its fruit we just give him over to Pop so that he can build another contender. Yaaaaaaaaaa..... isssssa no for me.

We've put into too much work and Ingram has too much potential to be even thinking about trading him, for anyone.

Favors/LBJ/Kawhi/PG/Lonzo Bench: Kuzma/Hart/DEN 2nd round pick/4 ring chaser

Reading through this older post, and with Kawhi still not playing yet for the Spurs, would you do the following:

Trade Lonzo, Kuzma, Cavs 1st and Deng for Kawhi?

I like Kuz and Lonzo, but I think I love the combination of Kawhi, Ingram, and possibly Paul George, especially if you could then resign Randle.

I think Kawhi is playing hardball with SA in order to get an extension and more control over personnel. Eventually, I think they'll cave and KL will be with San Antonio for the rest of his career...
If he does get traded, you have to wonder why this is happening? Now especially. Does he want to team up with LeBron?

I'm not following.... you are saying that Kawhi is faking the injury... or extending it to attract other players? That would seem to be an odd way of doing it.

The problem is that any deal with the Spurs will start with Ingram and since we're the Lakers we have no leverage.

I rather the Lakers do this:

1. Trade Deng, Cavs pick, 2020 1st and 2019 Bulls 2nd to Atlanta

2. Sign James/George

3. Sign Randle 4 years/ 80 million?

4. After December 15th, depending on how we are playing and how the pieces fit, consider trading Randle and maybe others to the Spurs for Leonard.

I remember old footage of Kawhi, he used to have some skills during his time.

The last one won't happen because Spurs don't want that package.

Ingram, Randle, and Deng, for Kawhi and Pau.

Was huge, huge, huge on Kawhi...but until I see him playing, I gotta wonder whats going on.

Is he just playing hard-ball? If so...that totally sucks. First off...he's making $19m this year, $20 the next, and $21 player option the following. I know these guys 'have mouths to feed', but jesus....$60mil ain't enough to get you on the floor? And what about next time? Is he gonna pack it in the last 2 years here in LA?

Is it really a serious injury? If he's unable to play, despite team doctors clearing him....he might wanna go get that checked out. Come back and let me know what you got, before I trade our young stud that we're just starting to see turn the corner in the NBA.

Is this some sort of "i'm not putting wear on my body, until you give me some players so we can compete" ultimatum to the Spurs? Well....your making the job that much harder, and again!!! $20mil!! Not enough??

Either way....It's a really bad look. He's either a $$-grubbing total douchbag, who can't find it to honor a 4-year $80mil contract, or the guy has something that he's trying to hide from the Spurs. Clearly the Spurs don't believe him...or else they wouldn't announce their doctors had cleared him. Both sides are trying to win the PR-battle now.

I'm not parting with Ingram until I know what's up with this guy.

You don’t offer Randle that much in the first place. That contract wouldn’t be very tradeable. You sign him to a two year deal at max.

And the The Spurs will turn it down, and so will us because of Kawhi's poor health.

Yes if kawhi is healthy. Go All-In

Ingram, Deng and CLE's 1st is the max that I would offer though.

Sign PG, then either LBJ or Cousins

Ball, Caruso
PG, Hart
Kawhi
Lebron, Kuzma
Randle, Zu, Robinson

Or

Ball, Caruso
PG, Hart
Kawhi
Randle, Kuzma
Cousins, Robinson
Lets go Lakers!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

still wouldn't do it with Ingram. I'd want to keep him. Though that means Randle + Zubac + Hart + Cav's first + 2020 + 2022

i'd still do that. Because if we get Leonard and get George, we'd be young enough and be good enough still.
