Dennis Schroeder: potential destinations/interested teams

I don't see Schroder coming back. He wanted big money and wanted to start and won't be getting either of those with the Lakers.

They get in their feelings because a lot of bench guys don’t close games. Odom, Kukoc, Horry, Lou, Ginobili, Terry knew they would be in there to close a game and that stands out in people’s head.

Dennis, Trez and a lot of these guys know they won’t close games off a bench. Trez did not in LA. Dennis wasn’t closing in okc as the sixth guy. Kuzma for instance would have bitched way less had he known in closing every night because now he knows his set role, minutes, shots and his profile goes up because people see him closing.

It’s an insecurity about not closing effecting your pay. I mean Steve Kerr was a seventh man but he’s remembered for closing and stayed on teams and got paid to his was old as hell because of it.

Boston do have a need for a starting point guard now that Kemba Walker is gone. Expect them to offer the MLE.

We dont need / want him....but if we can work a S&T, its our only viable way to sign someone good. Can we coexist for a year, and both try this again next season?

My issue is Schroeder is going to be 1000% concerned with one thing this season: Schroeder. Hell no, he won't be happy on the bench. Hell no, he won't be content with 10-12 minutes a game, and when he does get to play, it's gonna be about getting his. I had hoped we'd find someone willing to S&T for $15-ish mil. Get us a nice role player.

Now I'd be happy to get an $8-10 mil exception...and join that with next season's MLE...and perhaps get a $13-18 mil player next season. Schroeder should not come back. He doesn't want to.....and if he's stuck here, he's gonna be all about whats good for Schroeder.

A sign and trade is a pipe dream. Nobody wants him let alone give up assets to get him.

The notion that by hook or crook a GM must get something back for an investment is not always the case. Addition by subtraction is a very real thing.

I wanna spin this slightly, and ask who the hell thought it was a good idea to offer the guy $84?? Over 3x his value around the league. We just burning $$$ these days? Thank the heavens Schroeder declined.....cause we just about "done f-ked up". Not impressed with that gaff.
