Re: Lakers FA/trades
Tony Brown Jr. I like. That was a solid signing, for sure. His all-around/glue game is much needed. He'll do well.
Damian Jones will be fine as well, although Pelinka continues to look bad when he has to circle back to guys he glossed over.
Toscano-Anderson is not bad either. Essentially, Pelinka finally realized, after all these years, that he needed 6'6/6'7/6'8 guys with grit and defensive versatility. His ahh-hah moment came last year with the signing of Ariza, but he severely miscalculated because Ariza was beyond cooked. Pelinka tried his best to make up for it by signing Stanley Johnson in-season, and now he brings Anderson on to duke it out with Brown Jr. and Johnson. Good signing.
Lonnie Walker I do not like. I don't think he gives the team reliable shooting or defense, so he's a wasted signing to me. I think Max Christie brings more to the table day one than Walker, so I think Christie eventually beats him out for rotation minutes.
All and all, Pelinka did well signing guys with some marked defensive pedigree, so I'm satisfied. As far as shooting, Reaves, Nunn, Christie, Brown Jr., and Anderson will have to find their grooves from distance until Irving (hopefully) comes to help in that regard.

Hey, at least there's no more jokes about the retirement home. Some youth for a change.
However, let's not get our hopes high here. All of these guys were somebody else's trash, we've managed to fill our roster with so many guys that barely stuck into the league.
Walker
Toscano-Anderson
Brown
Jones
Johnson and Gabriel who were kept from last year.
Basically only Walker ever had a consistent role on a team, and we're talking about a 8th-9th man of the bench here.
If there's no Kyrie, NOP getting another lottery pick next year with the swap.

I like Jones, Brown, JTA as signings.
Walker.. meh. I’ll wait until I see the rest of the roster but that addition makes absolutely no sense if paired next to Westbrook.
Next to Irving however? Makes more sense

Even next to Irving it makes little sense as he's neither a shooter nor a defender and a shaky confidence guy that would wilt if LeBron shouted in his general direction. He's not even better than Reaves, whom we have on a cost controlled contract for this season and Nunn. I'd at least understand if we went for a guy like GP2 or Otto Porter Jr.

Re: Lakers FA/trades
Jones is fine. We still need one more big along with bringing back Dwight. Preferably a versatile big who can hold both the 4 or 5 spot DJ Wilson or Harry Giles III is my choice
Brown is good. JTA is ok as the 10th man.
Walker ? IDK if its even an acceptable signing at this stage. Lakers have tons of guards while lacking of some height. When TJ Warren is still availble, Jalen Smith still unsigned, Otto Porter still hanging around, why do we go after and sign a 6'4" guard? We already have Westbrook, Reaves, Nunn and THT to take care of the 2 guard positions. Christie is in the mix too if he can contribute right a way. We need some 6'8 - 6'10 versatile forwards !!!!!
THT is not a small forward. They must be looking for a trade. I prefer trading Nunn away rather than THT. Give some more time to THT to build his game.
Hope TJ Warren accept a vet min with us to regain his value
Welcome to the Los Angeles Klutch...................

Huh, 4 years, 214 games plus practices under Pops and RC Bufford and they decide to let him go elsewhere, go figure.
He got his most minutes last season, why would Pop keep playing him if he didn't like him? They would have kept him had they not supplanted his position through the draft for development: Vassell, Primo, Branham, Wesley
He just won't have a priority spot for development so the did the right thing and let him go, you can read several articles on this when they were deciding whether to keep him or not.
Maybe Pops gave him the minutes last season to fully evaluate his skillset, maturity, IQ etc and then...let him go so he can give minutes to Vasell, Primo, Branham etc? Look, Ill be lying if I say I know this kid well but reading that he is a Klutch client just left a very bad taste in my mouth, similar to the time Rob gave a lucrative contract to THT when there's no actual offers from other teams to create pressure to sign him to whatever he wants. I hope and PRAY, I am wrong about this.

Can someone tell me why the Lakers didn't give Lonnie Walker's contract to Otto Porter?
And why wasn't Brogdon worth a draft pick?

Yup, plus Rob with his knee jerk reaction of just getting young guys who can’t shoot.

Repeated sad incompetence.
I began following this team over 35 years ago because they were exciting and because they were impeccably ran.
They needed to move Magic to full-time point guard and needed a guy with shooting a defense on small point guards -- they draft Byron Scott.
Thay needed a backup center to spell the aging Kareem -- they trade for Mychal Thompson.
They needed a third forward to spell Green and Worthy -- they bring in Orlando Woolridge.
They need a new center when Kareem retires -- they draft Vlade Divac.
They need a backup point guard after Coop retires -- they trade three second round picks for Sedale Threatt.
The dynasty ends -- they draft Van Exel in the second round, draft Jones in the lottery, groom Elden Campbell into a devestating post scorer, and sign Ceballos as a free agent, all while keeping the team appealing, showcasing all their young talent, and keeping salaries low enough to sign Shaq as a free agent.
Divac becomes so good they are able to flip him for a low lottery pick named after Japanese steak.
Mistakes were made but the leadership was sensible and forward thinking.
Now, they're a clusterf#ck of incompetence, and it's difficult to watch a trainwreck, especially when you know the train was never built properly in the first place.
Honest Question: What good trade has Pelinka ever made? Not one I can think of.
No vision. No nuance. No sense.
This team's personnel is the perfect reflection of it's front office ... embarrassing from top to bottom.

Jalen Smith returned to the Pacers with little money. Should've go after him instead of Walker.
TJ Warren still not signed yet. Maybe a sign and trade for Nunn sensible ?

That would hard cap the Lakers. Going to be pretty impossible for that to happen. I'm hoping he signs on the minimum on a prove-it deal. If he did, he would be a starter for us and/or play big minutes.
This Kyrie and Joe Harris trade needs to happen.

Signing for vet min is the best Case scenario
Hard Cap or not, we can only sign vet min deals and our roster spots are filled. Any Westbrook trade will likely give us net outgoing salary I guess. Not an expert on salary cap. Feel free to correct me.
I don't want Joe Harris. Hope it turns out to be a 3 team trade. Something like Westbrook + Nunn could be possible netting us Irving and a versatile Big / Forward to balance the roster structure.

Re: Lakers FA/trades
DiVincenzo signed for peanuts and would’ve been a much better addition than that scrub Walker. Can’t believe we jumped at signing this guy. We’re looking like a lock to be in the lottery again next year. Pelicans must be smiling right now. I want Pelinka and Lebron gone. I want Jeanie and company to sell. Is there anything I like about this team?

Yeah. Jalen Smith is a **** beast. He's gonna explode after the Pacers trade Turner, major blunder of the FO not going after him.
We've been down the Damian Jones road, it didn't work out.
DiVincenzo as well. He's 10x better than Lonnie Walker.
Walker literally doesn' do anything better on the basketball court. Signed for the same money.

Serious question, what are the main strengths of Walker? He’s not a shooter….is he a great shot creator/ playmaker? Is he a much better defender than Stanley Johnson, Brown and JTA? If yes why Get these guys in the first place. Dont they just duplicate roles?

He's extremely athletic. Pelinka convinced himself last year that he went wrong by signing wily veterans, so he over-compensated this year by focusing solely on young, active, explosive guys.
This is my issue with this dude. He doesn't understand nuance. Pelinka goes from "Age doesn't matter." to "We must get young guys who can jump really high because we're too slow."
It all adds up to leadership that clearly lacks a vision that is rooted in reality. Monk, last year, was always going to be a good fit because he could shoot and he was athletic. With Walker, Pelinka was looking for Monk 2.0, but clearly the skillset is different. We know this, random posters on the internet, but the front office misses details all the time.
