Yes. Great point. I meant to mention him.
Real good energy, athleticism, and challenged everything defensively. I really like him and his potential. He was a bright spot

I really want to see him play more minutes because of his mobility, quickness and athleticism, even want him to start instead of their 2 centers but I'm guessing Ham would want him to be a spark off the bench.

there was toughness and defensive intensity.
AD looked really good.
LBJ was solid except his shot wasn't on.
Russ played a good game.
Beverly brought some edge and intensity, and you could tell he is going to make a difference with what he brings.
Nunn was okay.

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with Jones and Bryant at the 5, but as long as Jones plays good D and protects the paint and the rim, and we get some good minutes from Bryant, I'll be happy.

I'd be surprised at this point if they trade Russ. They certainly shouldn't give up 2 FRPs for Hield and Turner IMO.

My thoughts exactly.

Not a good first impression for JTA. Yikes. Can he shoot at all? He's going to have to knock down some shots if he's going to have a role on this team.

There's a legit reason why JTA just played under 14 mins/game last season. Some would say it's because Klay took away his minutes but I still think, Kerr would have found ways to play him more if he is good enough to help his former team.
About trading Russ, I really think a lot will depend on how they play the rest of the preseason and the first 5-10 games. If it gets ugly, (like getting beaten badly)early, and go 1-4, then I see Rob giving up those 2 FRP'S.

I missed the game but all comments seem like what’s expected happened.

How was Russ’ defensive approach compared to last year? Russ’ offense is not the biggest problem with Russ.

Role players I expected to impress today:
Swider, Reaves, Gabriel, Beverly, Christie, Huff, Pippen Jr

Role players I expected to stink it up today:
JTA, L Walker, T Bryant, D Jones

Without watching it, it’s pretty clear that we should trade Russ, for a center if we can.
Since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

PG: Luka / Vincent / Smith
SG: Reaves / Knecht / Bronny
SF: Smart / LaRavia / Thiero
PF: Bron / Rui / Vando / Kleber
C: Ayton / Hayes / Koloko

Alright I'm convinced. Let's start Reeves. It will go wrong sometimes, especially with over passing/lack of spacing in the starting 5 (assuming Russ is starting), but this kid deserves a shot considering his fit and energy overall.

Still the same old trash Westbrick. It’s unwatchable when he’s in the game.

What was it like with Reaves in Starting spot

I think he should be starting come season :)

Reeves is solid.
Very smart. Doesn't make mistakes. Works super hard.

Truthfully, as good as he is, compared to say Russ, I'm not sure he is starter material on a contending team.
He does everything good enough. But he doesn't do any one thing specially well.

That said, just his attitude and hard play, and lack of making mistakes, makes him a favorite of mine.

Reaves ... Is the next Caruso ... Need to keep Reaves sign him asap when contract is over.

I'm tired of Lakers letting these players go not wanting to sign etc

We could have Caruso and Reaves that would have been sick duo right there.

Nunn Is good But he'll be needed on the bench for the scoring etc

Edit: I just love players who are willing to do the dirty work - I remember back in t he day loving Jordan Hill - not many did, but hussle type players who can do the hard work are needed on any championship team

So many casuals (non Laker fans) sleeping on Austin Reaves just like they slept on Caruso. We need to lock that man up to a long term contract asap.

Here’s the problem, he is NOT a Klutch client, they’ll probably prioritize resigning Troy Brown Jr first because he is so young and full of potential :banghead: :banghead: .
Or they would save cap space and overpay another Klutch client like Gary Trent Jr. :(

Nunn and Walker are looking good right now in preseason game 3 against GSW.

LBJ and Russ not playing.

AD is also looking really good so far .

Reeves playing a solid game too.

Nunn played really well.

Gabriel is great and has the size and athleticism for the 3-5 position

I want more size on the team though and up their defense in the regular season and playoff.

I know it's only been a few short stints but how are you guys liking Lonnie Walker?

The guy is inconsistent but can explode for a breathless 30 on the right night. That is on a lottery team without two all stars.

I really think if the team shows trust in him, he could flourish.
