We can't contend for a championship atm so it is pointless to take that route. Trying to get a starting caliber player in the draft while preserving future cap space should be the play here.

Smart IQ guys and ready to contribute right away:

EDEY
Holmes

Then give a lot of minutes to Max Christie at wing!

I wouldn’t mind trading down or buying picks if the opportunity presented to pick up Max’s little brother and Adam Bona. It won’t help in the short term but both look like nice prospects with good upside in Cam’s case and possibility of thriving in a better situation for Bona.

Would love to add Cam Christie but it’s the same role Max plays. And we have so many areas to fill and change.

As for Bona, love the energy and defense but guy cannot shoot from outside and not enough of rebounder for me to love.

Believe at 17, we will have an opportunity to draft a great piece like EDEY/Holmes, smart leaders that can play both ends.

The Duke guy McCain seems like a decent prospect as we could always use competent shooting. I hope we can get Da Silva but I doubt he slips past Miami at 15.

Da Silva is a solid pick but still love Holmes and EDEY. Love the mature senior picks that can be physical and stretch the floor, strong rebounder/defender and give the Lakers more dimension and length!

Unless the Lakers are trading up for pennies on the dollar, I don't see any reason for the Lakers to move up. I'd rather them move down (or out) of the draft tbh.

Zach Edey
Devin Carter
Daron Holmes II
Tristan Da Silva

Are all players I'd prioritize with the 17th pick assuming we don't trade it. A couple of those are slotted to go before the 17th and a couple are slotted to go after but for the most part they're roughly in our mock range. These are all older upperclassman prospects who in theory should be able to contribute in some capacity to the parent roster by each providing a much needed skillset that our current depth lacks. I'll be excited if we nab one of them on Wednesday.

I've never seen this happen but would be cool if they traded #17 to the Spurs or Thunder for some less favorable 2025 & 2027 1sts

It should free up a pick every year from 2025-2030 to use in a bigger deal

Would be happy with that group at #17 altho prefer Holmes.

At #55, would love Bronny. Wouldn’t mind buying picks to draft Bronny in the early 40s, to be safe.

Then buy 1-2 more picks to get longer and better.

I know this year’s draft is somewhat weak but it has a lot of good 13-45 range players that can be good 3&D role players that Lakers need. Possibly Last year to buy picks, so let’s use our $7m warchest.

Two-way, high IQ, veteran college players only, please. I’m down for using our war chest to buy a pick should a ready to contribute player slip lower than expected. Silver’s NBA is different than the top heavy Stern NBA. Building long term via the draft has to happen somehow while we’re in win now mode.

I'd prefer Edey or Tristan da Silva 6'9" 2 way player from what I know of this class

Was hoping we'd be able to get Ware. Riley gobbled him up

Knecht! He'll be ready to contribute day one.
Lots of overlap with Reaves though...
