9-4 will bring 3rd seed???????
Let's look at this.
9-4 will put us in 5th seed guaranteed at worst.
The three teams we're looking at
Houston 25 losses
Denver 27 losses
Memphis 28 losses
If any of them match us at 30 games total losses, we have tiebreaker with Denver, with Houston and Memphis if we win the remaining games w them.
There are three games amongst them with each other:
Houston v Denver
Houston v Denver
Denver v Memphis
So this above will add three more L's in their loss columns where ever it may be.
Denver has been not doing well. Houston and Memphis both have tough remaining regular games.
9-4 may bring 3rd seed for us
--
Also who cares if Houston ends up 2nd seed. If we beat them both games with them, I don't mind our 3seed match up against them 2 seed

Nevermind the above now.
We're in a race to the end without any consolation of a plan now.

These are the remaining games of the season (with possibly another makeup game at the end). This is a five week stretch, possibly the amount of time Lebron will be out (God forbid, and including ramping up in a playoffs games if/when he gets back)
Let say we lose alll 19 games above. (REMEMBER, DONCIC IS PLAYING WITH A HURT BACK FROM THE PELICANS GAME WHEN HE FELL ON HIS BACK AND HIT HIS HEAD)
This will put us at the final record of 40-42
Considering the current L10 win rate of the seeded teams, the possible (lenient, I gave them one more than reasonable each) records of these teams will be:
2 Denver Nuggets 42 23 6-4........................> 52-30
3 Golden State Warriors 37 28 9-1..................> 52-30
4 Memphis Grizzlies 41 24 5-5 ....................> 50-32
5 Houston Rockets 40 25 6-4 .......................> 50-32
6 Minnesota Timberwolves 37 29 6-4 ..............> 47-35
7 Los Angeles Clippers 35 30 4-6....................> 42-40
8 Sacramento Kings 33 31 5-5......................> 42-40
9 Lakers ...............................................................40-42
10 Phoenix Suns 30 35 4-6...........................> 37-45
We will be in a play-in game against Suns (or dallas mavericks, but I left them out considering they closed up their season) and then possibly against Kings/Clippers to have privilege to face OKC in first round.
However alas, losing all 19 games will instill a losing culture that will be hard to break out of, no matter how great lebron comes back.
Best realistic scenario is to win AT LEAST 7 games... this will put us at 47-35, tying us with Timberwolves to gain the 6seed. With a potential matchup with the surging warriors.
But which 7 games can they possibly manage to win? I dont really see it. Perhaps 4? 5? Not 7. What you think?
Trevor what you think? (I know you read these lol) ... What JJ think or Doncic/Lebron think most importantly.
According to my original post, we are on schedule. we are 3-5 since this write up.
So no need to panic. I think the Lakers are just pacing right now, and just trying to win a few more games here and there without any over exertion.
As long as we win our 9 games or so we should be looking pretty good for how we enter the playoffs.
Can we go 6-5 these last 11 games?
I believe so. I think even with treading water in effort (all guys are back from injury but you dont want to reaggravate any injury) this month, they can win 6 by default.

Now that gsw lost tonite, we are back in the same situation as what I mentioned earlier, but with lesser games.
We need to go 7-4 in our final games to secure at least a 5th seed.

The two teams I'd rather not face, are the Nuggets (they just seem to have our number....despite our one nice win). and OKC (best team in the league, IMO). If we could somehow avoid the Nuggets, and make it all the way to the WCF...and then face OKC, that would be great. OKC will be what it will be. I think they will win...but I don't think there's "no way" against any team now.
Now, with all that said.....we ain't beating anyone playing like we are right now. So let's get that fixed first. Otherwise, it won't matter.

Yeah I agree we seem to be having some serious issues.
Hopefully they are just temporary or strategic (given Lebron just got back from groin strain) Lebron wanting to take it easy on defense and not really putting his foot on the gas, same with Rui.
and not some systemic issues. Because if it's this, I don't know how we were able to have such a spectacular run for the majority of this year since New Years.

I thought Lebron was the only one who plays badly after 3+ days off but apparently almost all the stars including MJ, KD, Steph etc have bad stats after being off for more than 3 nights but it is glaring for James though. I foolishly thought the would be fresher and more quicker but it's quite the opposite.
It just takes more time for him to get that proper optimal rhythm to shoot and move well and not be a step late in rotations, heck even properly reading the defense and communicating was off and sadly, his teammates are very dependent on him being at 90+% strength.

Re: Possible outcome of our season (WORST CASE SCENARIO)..
What I heard somewhere in Lakers media is that Lebron mental capacity is needed (not only physical capacity) as he needs to mastermind, and be the "control tower" communicating on court to all personnel in regards to the defense at any moment.
I believe he is taking it lax in this area (pun intended) and will ramp up in MegaMinding the defense when the time comes (hopefully soon).

Re: Possible outcome of our season (WORST CASE SCENARIO)..
Well the time has come to consider the possible worst case outcome of being in the play-in.
Technically, we are still in this with 7-2 being the record we need to uphold in these last nine games to establish a minimum of a 5th seed.
But now, how things are going, I dont think that is possible. We have lost games we should have won. And now we are facing games we are expected to lose....and so I am sure, we will lose (right, JJ? Lebron?)
remaining games (WITH THEIR EXPECTED OUTCOME):
Mar 29, 2025 8:00 PM ET @Memphis LOSS
Mar 31, 2025 10:30 PM ET v.Houston LOSS
Apr 3, 2025 10:00 PM ET v.Golden State LOSS
Apr 4, 2025 10:30 PM ET v.New Orleans
Apr 6, 2025 3:30 PM ET @Oklahoma City LOSS
Apr 8, 2025 8:00 PM ET @Oklahoma City LOSS
Apr 9, 2025 7:30 PM ET @Dallas
Apr 11, 2025 10:30 PM ET v.Houston LOSS
Apr 13, 2025 3:30 PM ET @Portland
According to the above, we will end up 47-35
Which will put us in the play-in/8th seed.
Thanks Lebron.
(yes, this is Lebron's fault. All of this last few games and weeks. It's not on Luka nor AR. JJ has something to do with this as well)
---
yup. Calling a spade a spade here.
From 2seed being one of three teams to contend for the trophy...
to a fringe play-in team that'll fizzle out, not surprisingly, within the play-in itself.

Maybe youre being facetious but why not just take the 2seed outright? It seems easier to do that than to intentionally lose every game to go to the 7th seed... I mean you can't even control where you fall when you intentionally fall off a cliff.

Ok so the worst case outlook now is
Mar 31, 2025 10:30 PM ET v.Houston LOSS

Apr 13, 2025 3:30 PM ET @Portland
I can see us winning one of the Houston games. Tonite's win gave me hope AR can pull that off.
However, say we lose five more games that'll put us at 34 losses in the season.
Worst outcome is 8th seed play- in if gsw/clip/minn/Memphis all win out majority of their games.
If gsw/clip lose 3 more games each, Minnesota loses 2 games, and Memphis loses 4, we will get the 4th seed, best case realistic scenario.

I will be very disappointed if they lose to Houston tonight because that team just played last night.
I don't see Green lighting it up back to back but I am concern about Sengun's jumphooks. If he gets like 10 of those shots bec it's pretty automatic 18 pts at least.
I gave Lebron a pass for having a diesel like engine needing so much time like 5 games to get going but he should start dominating starting now.
Most games would be played at home and they have been pretty good playing here and they seemed to found a way to limit Curry's efficiency.
Call me pathetic but I'm kind of hoping that OKC might rest their players against this team because they have pretty much secured HCA for the playoffs.

Not that LeBron is like a diesel engine, but the guy is coming off of a groin sprain, which is conducive to just straining again on any given movement. Seems like any person would be wary and overly cautious for a few weeks maybe. Really, his rest/being out wasn't even that long. I thought they rushed him back to early. Would have liked for him to ease his way into games like playing only 15 mins per game rather than straight 30 mins from the get go.
Yeah I do think okc will rest their players on one of the games and unleash on us on the other. However for some reason I'm not scared of okc. I don't see them making it to the finals. Boston is scary. Okc has real no experience.

Call me crazy because I am probably the only one who was skeptical about his "injury".

Because I let my wild imagination get ahead of me.
It's like this.
The 40 year old was running full steam ahead like a freight train as he helped this team racked up 8 straight wins spending so much energy and feeling fatigued. He looked at the calendar, SHOOT, there's like 38 days to go before the playoffs, and the team was currently in 2nd place in the tough West but he's worried that his old tired body will ran out of gas by April 19. Now what?
Boston game, then he feels something, some pain but it's not he heard a pop... ok, maybe just maybe this is the perfect time to rest up and let that nagging foot heal, he does this while monitoring if he needs to comeback and avoid the play in....

Ok, great win tonite
Let's look at the worst case scenario.
49-33 will put us realistically into 6th seed (minn and clips will need to lose just one more game each to ensure that; they will not sweep out their remaining games for sure)
6th seed is not bad. Actually it may be preferable to stay here, than get into the 4/5 or try to run Lebron's groin into the ground trying to make 3rd seed.
Now the situation is who's going to be 3rd seed?
It's either rockets and then second round Denver, or vice versa.
