That's a pretty good looking trade but GS would never do it and we need more of a true point guard to once and for all replace Fish. If something like this was offered though, we would be in good shape. Pau would move over to the 5 and Lamar would start at the 4.

That trade sucks, anybody saying that's a good trade seriously lack basketball acumen. You NEVER EVER trade big for small. Further more Ellis isn't a triangle type guy, secondly why the hell would you trade within your division ?

Seriously OP your problems in the Bay is on your inept ownership, and has been for years.

It was a good pipe dream for yourself though.

It's not Bynum for just Ellis. It's Bynum for Ellis and a top three pick. WHAT!!!

If it is in fact a top three pick and we can get Ellis and Cousins, or Turner (a beast), or Wall, or some other young stud.

Depending on where the pick is, assuming it was top three, I do that deal in a second.

Byy the way, when Ellis is focused on defense he is very, very, very good.

Sure, we'll do it right when you get the #1 pick. Then we'll draft Wall and trade Monta and some trash for Bogut. Then since we don't need to go after a PG, we spend some of the MLE and pick up Salmons.

Wall/Fish
Kobe/Brown
Artest/Salmons
Pau/Odom
Bogut/MBangin

Ahhh fantasies are nice :D

Seriously though how much would that team rock? Bogut, while you lose a little O, brings more consistent rebounding, D, and a much better passer to coexist with Pau, Wall... well damn I've caught a few KY games lately to see this kid and I'm all on board. Smart, good attitude, unselfish, defends, quick as hell, great passer... 70+ win team right there

Nay. Big men win championships. Gasol and Bynum duo is only going to get better since they still have a lot to learn about playing with each other.

Kobe still has a lot of game and even after he is gone, i am confident that he will be replaced by a young star, maybe not on his level but around the B.Jennings/D.Harris/J.Terry level.

Don't forget Bynum is not that far from D.Howard. With a slowed down Bryant, much improved Bynum and Gasol teamwork, smarter Shannon brown, somebody like the guys i mentioned above, i think that's good enough to contend for championship.

Lakers don't have to have a top tier super-superstar in the backcourt to win ships. All we need there is someone really good that can create and take the big shot.

You have proven you can win without Bynum!! Kobe is an all world defender and Ellis would definitely help him in everyway.. Plus you get a future star in Turner and Wall?? You gotta be nuts not to consider this trade

The only thing I hate worse than "non thought out" trade ideas is "non thought out" responses to trade ideas. The latter is definitely in effect.

GSForever wrote:Would you guys be interested in a deal with Bynum going to GS?? And the Lakers recieving Ellis and our top 3 pick this year??

Ellis and Bryant make an instoppable backcourt!! Plus maybe getting Wall or Turner to back them up??

GS recieves an outstanding young big to help our porous "D" and rebounding department...And Bynum gets the chance to show his offensive skill!!

It's a win-win trade scenerio for both teams!! Lakers win championship after championship and we get a chance to finally go to the postseason with some hope...

Yay or Nay??

Definitely Nay ! :D

Thanks Stu Lance.

It's all relative. If it were Deron Williams a perfect fit in the triangle for years to come yes. On ther other hand Ellis just doesn't fit.

I agree that you don't typically trade big for small, but given the Lakers desperate need at the pg position you have to consider it. Especially when Bynum has proven to under perform when paired with Gasol. We have enough bigs to be able to handle the blow of losing Bynum. Think about how great this team can be if we replace Fish/Farmar who get abused by the rest of the league with a dependable pg that stabilizes the whole team. In my opinion we play better with the Odom/Gasol combo anyways and Bynum is too mentally soft to take a bench role, thus he would be a great trading chip to get a quality pg.

Ya'll keep ishing on Ellis but dude said Ellis and Cousins/Wall/or my favorite Evan Turner.

That's what dude is proposing. You can't ignore the top three pick when assessing this proposal.

You just can't.

Ellis isn't a PG. That really kills any motive to trading Bynum, and he doesn't provide anything that the Lakers lacks.

I know it's alittle hard for the average fan to comprehend the magnitutde of having a 3 guards lineup of Byrant, Ellis and Wall or Turner...So I don't expect some Laker fans to know it's a 2 superstar trade for not even a Dwight Howard...

And how great were the late Detroit Pistons?? They didn't have any dominating bigs?? Dumars and Thomas and Vinny Johnson is nothing compared to what Byrant, Ellis and Wall or Tuner would bring to the table...

Someone please bring up some valid points that would make me think twice??

It's fit of these three players that's the problem. Monta can play off-the-ball but he needs the ball more often to be most effective. The #3 pick overall makes it very interesting however outside of Evan Turner I don't see another player that would replace what we lose. On the other hand I suppose a Jermaine O'Neal like veteran at C would more than compensate for say 20mpg. So overall from L.A., I say yes for the chance to have two building blocks down the road and improve.

If we could find a better fit than Monta though I'd be very pleased to do the deal. Perhaps trade Monta Ellis for a couple of guys to fill out the roster like a Hinrich+Noah+plus take away Walton somehow+plus get us that pick for Turner (Kobe replacement).

PG- Hinrich, Farmar
SG- Bryant, Turner
SF- Artest, some veteran fill-in
PF- Gasol, Odom
C- O'Neal, Gasol

If Bynum had no health risks I'd certainly do it. I just see a GREAT FIT in Turner for years to come. He'll be in his prime when Kobe retires which is promising. Bynum's knees I don't trust necessarily.

I know that starting roster when Shaq retires will be simply ridiculous defensively and offensively. It fits so seamlessly on both sides of the court and has excellent backup potential. I like Evan Turner's potential as well. I do see another Roy in him and he'd fit EXCEPTIONALLY well in the triangle.

As shocking as it is I could see the Lakers thinking about a Bynum trade. Whatever Bynum provides six years down the road is nothing to me unless we win titles now. There really aren't too many teams that make me shiver as far as their big men go. Once Shaq is gone i'll take a more flexible lineup.

Bynum is going to be a beast soon and I doubt he would fit with Gstate so why would you want a big that doesn't run, and also Ellis is a good player but he is a ballhog and a horrible defender he makes fisher look Bruce Bowen in his prime but you can give us that pick for Luke if you want lol

Bynum may be a scoring beast soon I agree and he can block shots but if you can improve the team to win against whatever comes against it the next three years and get a young player who fits like a glove down the road I think that's a tempting offer.

If Bynum was injury free I would never consider it. Period. You don't trade young centers who can score at the rate he does.
