Mavs FO and coaching staff are idiots. First they traded for 32 years old injury prone player, because their 26 years old superstar is not taking serious conditioning and then they let play that injury prone player, before making sure he's 100% ok.

He waived his trade kicker and in his first game for the Mavs, he said he was very motivated to play well for his new team.

Considering what he went through to get himself traded to the Lakers in the first place, he seemed oddly happy to leave?

Presumably he liked the lifestyle in LA.

Lebron is understandably happy to play with Luka but they engineered to get AD over to the Lakers and it looked like their fates were locked together until LeBron retired.

But after all the drama he went through to get out of New Orleans and get to LA, you'd think he'd have been reluctant to leave.

Not a psychoanalyst or anything...but this is like that dude that just got divorced by his wife cause she's been seeing another man, and moved in with him. So now he's hittin the gym, resetting priorities, and kinda hits life a little too hard. Tellin his friend what a 'blessing in disguise' this turned out to be. <------ that kinda deal. Gets a new girlfriend...and jumps into the deep end way too fast, talking about things like "greatest thing that ever happened to me" .....like 3 months in.

Davis just got publicly dumped. Dumped hard. Totally blindsided. And we're already in a new relationship. He's overcompensating. But of course that got him immediately injured....which should be no surprise to anyone involved with the Lakers.

I like Davis. He's a Laker for life. Brought us a title. Was one of the great 2-way players in the game's history. But I am just so happy we got rid of him when we did.

AD wants revenge. At this point, I think AD and the Mavs has a better chance to win it all than the Lakers. Plus, AD gets to play as the 4 for the Mavs, which is what he had always wanted. I say, we better be ready the next time we face AD. That dude will gonna try to destory us.

Not likely this year. ;)

Yeah, he is out again. That is my only problem with AD. He is really good but too injury prone. One of the reason why I'm okay with the trade. As much as I like AD's defense, I'm not sure I could count on him to be available every game because of injuries.

That's why you're okay with the trade, that AD is injury prone?

Not that you got the best offensive player in the league who's dragged his team to the Finals by himself? Who's 6-7 years younger than AD?

Hate the Lakers with a passion (with a lot of respect for both Kobe and Shaq though) but we stand with Luka, so I guess I'll have to get used to this despicable sight of him in those hideous colours.
But if Dirk shows up, we show up.
Worst trade in league history, Lakers are gonna be once again at the top for the next decade, once the roster gets balanced over the next 18 months or so.

I wouldn’t say you got rid of him. You were unfairly gifted a deal no one would ever say no to. Your front office didn’t have to do anything but say yes.

Call it what you want, he's gone. All that matters to me. With his injury history and age, I worried we'd get nothing for him. I'm not the biggest Luka fan....and I'll take him over a 31-32 year old AD.

Yeah, we got lucky. And,

To those of us who valued Davis’ defense (he plays help defense for about three normal players all by himself every night) and Christie’s, who is a total badass wing defender and a super high IQ kid with great discipline and work ethic at 21, this wasn’t as one-sided a deal as the outside world sees it. I see Christie as a young Kawhi level wing defense talent. I watch the defense like a hawk.

I simply hope Luka plays some defense. Yesterday he was instead arguing with the refs and gave up two points to get to do so.

So, as much as it’s obvious to the entire world how gifted Luka is on offense — generational level superstar offensive savant, yes it’s freaking obvious and we’re super lucky to have him — it seems hard for many people to see that AD is almost that good on defense. It seems hard for most fans to even watch anything but the ball on offense these days.

As a help defender PF next to a Center, AD is a total beast and monster, see 2020 next to Dwight and McGee. He’s also been healthy for two years.

Not as clear-cut to us all as you state it. Dallas won the defensive lottery. We won the offensive one.

Not sure who wins a series this season, but I think a healthy Dallas will surely beat a healthy Lakers team in seven games this year.

Because, defense.

You traded a 32 year old injury prone star who’s best years are quickly moving behind him for a 25 year old generational superstar just entering his prime. It’s extremely clear cut and only a spoiled fanbase without perspective would see otherwise. The NBA doesn’t end this season.

True, but LeBron’s career might. Championship or bust. That’s the high pressure of a big market team.

I said AD being injury prone is just one of the reasons. You are right too that Luka is a great offensive player. Age is a factor too. I am a person that values defense and AD is one of the best in the league when it comes to that aspect (and in offense too), but here comes the factor of being injury prone. What good is a two way player if he will be out most of the time? This is where you try to rationalize this trade. You weigh the pros and cons. I'm good with either AD or Luka. The main reason I'm trading AD away is his health issues and the main reason I'm taking Luka is because he is younger and obviously a better choice for business reasons.

We didn't just win the Lottery. I think we gave away the better player. I wouldn't call you crazy for thinking the other way around, but I think Davis is the better player. The injuries with AD and the age difference clearly makes Luka the better player - long term - but he's won nothing, while AD has brought a title here. If I could pick between a 25-year old Davis, or Luka, I'd take Davis 10 times outa 5. I know I can build a winner around him with many different pieces. While I think your threading a needle, trying to build around Luka.

But sure...it's the better side of the deal, and I'm glad the Lakers made changes. But we didn't "win the lottery".

I think it’s pretty clear that the general consensus would say that you did. I think most people saying otherwise are Lakers fans. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. There’s a reason why Dallas fans are pissed and the entire narrative is what it is.

That’s wildly short sighted. I can’t think of another fan base who would be gifted Luka Doncic and be anything less than grateful for their fortune.

Sorry I'm not impressed with the general consensus. And sorry if I'm not as excited as you think I should be. He's a great player (offensively)....and his age makes him someone you can build around, unlike AD. So I'm glad the deal was done. But I do have questions about his commitment, and his ability to win a title.

Only a spoiled fan base would feel that way about getting a generational player for an over the hill star. How gluttonous. Some teams have never had a player as good as Luka. I think you don’t even really deserve him.

Gluttonous doesn't begin to describe it. Your whiny tears are like droplets of gold.
