Re: Official Build around Luka thread & FA
Its tough to question Rob Pelinka after pulled off the trade of the decade with Luka, but at the same time these constant off-seasons of LA just doing nothing and essentially wasting Lebron's final years.
At this point, if they cant put a legit team around Lebron for next season they're better off flipping him to the highest bidder.
I hoping for Kessler (for Knecht and pick) and then perhaps a Reaves move that lands a 3s/D guard/wing.

I suspect Kessler could easily be exposed in the playoffs, he's extremely slow...

Re: Official Build around Luka thread & FA
Ayton is the best C available but is a low post ‘give me the ball and watch me bang people up’ type, which isn’t exactly the greatest fit with Luka, LBJ, Reaves. He’s a physical beast. Generates rebounds, lobs, putbacks. Some big ifs: if he can get his head straight, if he can show up on time, if his conditioning... Maybe a contract year and new scenery could change him for the better? It won’t make him a stretch five.
Al Horford (great backup PF/C), Nick Richards, Clifford Omoruyi (5 year college vet 7’6” wing span 6’11” defender), Robert Williams III. :dunno:
Dame-time!!! Then we could trade Reaves and Klieber for Kessler.
Dame would have open shots here all the time, every night.
C Kessler, Omoruyi, Jemison
PF Bron, Horford, Dixon
SF Vando, Rui, Thiero
SG Knecht, Dame (2026), Vincent, Bronny
PG Luka, RJ Davis, Goodwin
But I think and actually hope we’re going to get Ayton and/or Horford while keeping Reaves. This would be a great upgrade until LeBron retires. Gives us a fair shot at the playoffs.
Then Luka and Giannis team up here next off-season.

Rings since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

Time to trade LeBron and Bronny to the Clippers for Powell, Bogdanovic, Jones, and Dunn.

Is it tough? I mean....a bar of gold fell on his lap. Would you have made the deal? Of course. So would I. So how much credit are we really gonna give the guy. He didn't kick his dog today, either.
Let's be fair and not ignore it. It's something. But it's not like he found some loophole, or traded for Luka when he was 21 cause he saw something amazing in him that nobody else saw. Those are the kinda things that make someone beyond reproach. But if I buy a lotto ticket and win $250k, It's not like I'm a 'good investor' all of a sudden.
In fact, moving to your 2nd point....it's because he's made one horrible deal after the next for the last 4-5 years (some may not be his fault, to be fair) that we're out of players other teams want, and we're all but out of picks to make deals with. And we have very little cap room. So what is he supposed to do? It's like the guy that spends $500 more than he earns every month, and puts it on the card....eventually, your gonna have to cut that card up, and tighten the belt for a handful of lean months until your at least back to zero.
We have one asset: Luka. You could trade Luka and get a different star, or a bunch of picks, or a package of picks/young talent. That's it. Your not getting anything for Lebron. He's too old to be worth $53 mil. Try it. Shop him, and you'll find no takers. Reeves? Vando? Rui? Well...they tried all those guys over the last season or two. Nadda.
Facts are facts with that. It's why were scraping players from the bottom of the barrel, and making little deals to sign guys 40-some deep in the draft. We either move Luka....or we sit tight for a couple years, and get some salary cap/picks back. Lebron is aware of all of this, but chose to exercise his option, and collect the $$$. So his gripes, or title aspirations don't hold much water with me.

It's been reported that Cleveland has no interest. Where would he want to go? Maybe banana boating with the Clips and CP3, idk.

It would be almost impossible to find a team with $50+ mil in space to just take him. Therefore, salaries would have to more or less match. Who's giving up something good for him? So really....what your gonna get is a team who overpaid on someone...and they have 3-4 years left. They wanna get rid of that guy. Lebron, on the other hand, comes off the books next year. So you'll find someone who will make that trade with you. Maybe you take a guy who's making 35-40 mil for the next 3-4 years...and you get a FRP, or maybe a pretty good 15-20 mil player as well.
Not the stuff that dreams are made of, to be sure.

I thought jaxson got a lot better last year with minutes and I would not be at all mad with Ayton and Hayes

Ayton is a perfect fit for Luka. Ya can't think Shaq, He's not a low post over power dudes on the block type of Center. More like a skinny twin towers type.
Ayton is a roll down hill and Lob kinda guy.
HOWEVER, I like ayton because he's got a Mid Range Jumper. Super useful on a Luka pick and roll game. Where he can go to the basket, but if the defender stays low to meet Luka, ayton can pop the 15 footer up top.
Something which was inconsistent with AD.
Im just still cranky that we lost Finn Smith. Because a kick out hitter is necessary
