These guys need the right to choose from a respectable pool at least .... leaving them the 13th-14th players on our roster is basically the same **** as having them choose from the FA leftovers

To make it fair....whoever loses the coin toss for Simmons, gets to pick first from our non-protected players pool

As soon as you lose 2 guys you're safe, you cannot lose anybody else anymore .... with this rule, it's a guarantee EVERY SINGLE guy here will lose 2 players when it's all over

You want fairness? You can't get better than this

So, do the new GMs round up their rosters first before we pick or do GMs 1 and 2 pick top 2, then worst record holder gets a shot on the unprotected/rookie/FA pool next then we proceed on the snake?

How does the NBA do this btw?

I see the first scenario benefiting the new GMs and would be fair for all. The latter leaves them with scraps and the rich get richer.

1. We do the coin toss for the normal draft....order is set
2. Whoever loses the coin toss, and gets #2 in the draft.....will get compensated by picking 1st in the expansion draft

3.Protection begins...each current owner protects 9 guys, leaving 6 guys unprotected and up for grabs

4.Expansion draft begins .....the 2 new GM's pick 24 players out of our unprotected guys( two guys from each current team owner)
Whenever 2 players from a current owner are selected....that owner will automatically be safe, and can't lose anymore players
With this system, it is a guarantee that every single one of the 12 current owners, will lose exactly 2(TWO) players to the expansion teams

5. Regular draft begins

Alright. But can the new GMs select from the rookie pool if they choose to? If this happens, some GMs won't lose two players. Are those up for grabs during the regular draft then? Or we go with rookies and FAs only?

It's good to talk about this sooner than later. Curious how AK and Mirj will react since they're the most vocal ones.

Only EXPANSION teams can select our players

Whichever players are not selected by them, will remain on the team that owned them

Yeah, I guess they can choose not to select some guys ....and fill up their roster with FA leftovers
But the point is, we're not having scenarios in which a guy loses 5 players to the expansion teams, and another guy none
You lose 2 players MAX, and I'd bet every single guy will lose at least 1( except maybe Mirja)

I still think it is dumb we have to give up players.

Using the argument "well the NBA does it" is also dumb. The NBA has 3 times the teams we have. There isn't exactly a big pool of quality NBA players outside of the NBA, so of course they have to give up a couple players potentially to expansion teams.

We are a 10 team league. There is literally at least 120 quality NBA players in the free agent pool. Want to be in the league? Build your team.

What is the benefit to the current owners to include two more teams? What do we gain when we potentially lose two important pieces of our team?

As for RO's idea - it makes sense, but regardless I think giving up players is **** crazy.

And yeah, this is a big deal to me.. as this league is about the only reason I still check RealGM. I had to stop posting in every other forum so I didn't get banned here.

Got confused a bit there about the banning ak.

As for adding new GMs, well I think we get to be more competitive. And we are adding them since they want in and we are kind enough to accommodate. I'm with you on losing quality key players but I'm up for the challenge of replacing them.

That's just me though. Once Ty gets back maybe we can proceed with a poll after discussing all terms.

I mean I get the whole "more competitive" thing, but is that really a fix when we have people tanking for youth, punting categories and really having no idea wtf they're doing (RO), making bad trades, etc...Seems as if this just hurts the better teams in the league with no benefit to them, and helps every other team.

Atleast the real teams in the NBA get revenue out of adding more teams. We obviously don't get that either. So what is the benefit for the better rosters in the league under the current plan to expand?

Looking to trade Bogut for a guard. I know someone can use his FG%, BLK, REB, and a AST here and there...

You can't trade a future pick.

Yeah, I rejected it all year last year too. You can only trade 'future' picks once the current draft order is set. For instance, Optms and Mirjalovic did this maneuver this past offseason.
