As far as the Jeanie Pelinka e-mails go this is not something unique to the Lakers, happens in offices all over the world everyday and I don't think they were sent to Magic by accident. It's nearly impossible to forward, BCC or CC something to somebody by mistake also the fact that this got out to be reported on shows Magic is still playing politics as much as anyone else in the Lakers FO.

As far as the discussion between Jeanie and Pelinka, as much as I dislike Pelinka in the FO I have to say if Magic was MIA and not doing the daily grind or pulling his weight I'd be talking to Jeanie about it too. I have been in a similar position with somebody over me that I had to answer to not pulling their weight and when the performance of the group started to suffer it all came crashing back on me.. I've had to defend my staff and gone directly to the top and openly complained.. Some may call that backstabbing I call it not taking the blame for somebody else's lazy work ethics

They're not hiring a new president. It's really that simple.

I hope every time Jeanie watches "Balls" (Steve Ballmer), she gets a good look at what he's done to the Clippers and wonder how those same strategies would help the Lakers.

Watching this Clipper team and comparing it to the Lakers is depressing. Top to bottom.

The truth hurts.

Magic leaked this because he thought it would make him look the victim.

Problem is that this isn't bullying like "eww magic smellz", this is the venting of that lazy colleague and it resonates with most of us. So now he just looks like that lazy colleague we all get annoyed by and on top of that he's tried to make the Lakers look bad.

Magic Johnson somehow turned into Tragic Bronson, I blame McGee

We are totally at the mercy of Lebrons ability to recruit top free agents. No. I have no faith in pelinka or jeanie to recruit top players. Lebron. Heck, maybe even thompsons Dad.

If only he would stay away completely.

Magic has always cared only about himself and this exemplifies it. He couldn't handle the criticism and he ran blaming his lackey knowing full well the casual fan would know too little to see through his sham and would bite his every words.

Both Rambis's and Jeanie and Rob? Is this like a sex cult they are trying to bring a coach into?

I just see Jeanie and Rob like way too into going on a road trip together in my head.

Hard to come to terms with just how vapid and transparent this franchise has become...

A lot depends on who to believe. Some writers who are friends with Magic are biased against Rob. Who can clearly say who made the decision to trade Russell and the huge contract of Mozgov and who found Kuzma?
Who made the decision to part ways with Brook Lopez and not retain Randle? I know Magic loves Rondo but he proved the be a bad combo with Lebron.
One thing to consider is if Rob was incompetent as an agent, Kobe would have fired him right away?

Kobe needed an agent about as bad as I do though... I always got the impression that Kobe was in control of the negotiations he did have too... Never thought he would trust an agent to negotiate anything for him... And I never knew Pelinka existed until Magic hired him.

In any case, the fact that Rob P was Kobe's agent, is being way over sold as qualification for him to be GM. Even discounting Kobe's need for him, his success ratio as an agent seems to be a bit of a mixed bag also...

I appreciate the humility to say the word "impression" and "thought" bec all of us fans are from the outside looking in. We can only do so much research and still we don't know if the articles we are reading are accurate or not, we can only base our opinions from our own logic from the things we believe is true.
Have you heard of Bob Myers before? I find it amazing that Myers is now being treated like a God while Pelinka as trash (can't help but wonder if Lebron didnt' get injured and there was no trade rumor, what might have been..). Well, the legendary sports agent Arn Tellem hired BOTH of them for his company SFX. I just can't imagine Arn hiring this guy if he is dumb and incompetent, relying on his charm alone etc to get what he wants. BTW Pelinka passed the Illinois Bar Exams and became a Lawyer. He didn't just represented Kobe but also other players like James Harden, Eric Gordon, Boozer, Igoudala and at least 8 more players. I am assuming word gets around about how he handled them and yes, he had his share of mistakes like when Boozer reneged on his verbal commitment to rejoin Cleveland but still it didn't stopped most of these players including Kobe of retaining him. The vibrant Masai Ujiri also had his mistake of making promises to DeRozan, then he turns around and traded him...The point is nobody is perfect including Jerry West who had his share of mistakes like drafting David Rivers etc.
About Kobe not needing a real agent, I would disagree on that, he could have copied what Ray Allen did like just hiring a Law firm to examine his contract but he didn't. Kobe is a perfectionist and if doesn't like the way you work and it's affecting his plans, he will take action. I strongly feel he influenced how Rudy T. Mike Brown, (including Phil the first time) etc left the Laker organization.
