Pelinka has no real rhyme or reason.

I'd pay to know the vision in his signing.

Did he envision Kent Bazemore as a starting three when he signed him? Was Quinn Cook signed to be in the rotation with Rondo?

What is the vision? Or is he just throwing players on a wall to see what sticks?

I miss Jerry West badly.

If dudes like Gary Harris and Mo Banba were getting the full MLE, I guess Lonnie Walker was our level. You aren’t getting any useful wings at that price point.

If the Nets accept Westbrook and two firsts:

PG - Irving - Nunn
SG - Reaves - Christie - Walker
C - Davis - Jones - Gabriel
PF - James - Tucker - Johnson
SF - Brown Jr. - Anderson

If I’m Pelinka, I’m completing the roster with:

Westbrook, Gabriel, 2027 1st (Top 4 Protected for 2 years, followed by unprotected 3rd season if doesn’t convey), cash to Brooklyn for Kyrie and Harris

- Trade THT, future 2nd rounder, cash to Detroit for Kelly Olynyk.

- Sign Derrick Jones Jr, Jeremy Lamb

PG: Irving/Nunn/
SG: White/Reaves/Lamb/Christie
SF: LeBron/Brown/Stanley
PF: AD/Jones Jr/JTA
C: Olynyk/Jones/

That’s a way more balanced roster.

Can't believe you guys are still 17-1 for the title, if you get Kyrie you have the best big 3 in the league.

I deeply criticized Pelinka for not nabbing OPJ, but it appears Otto Porter Jr. signed for the non-taxpayer MLE of 10.5 million. The Warriors offered him the same amount as the Lakers probably did, so, in all fairness, he was never coming to the Lakers.

Not giving up a draft pick for Brogdon remains a mistake to me. If they miss out on Irving, it will be a mistake that costs them a season.

Before free agency started this year, I thought the one thing I wanted to see was just how good Pelinka really is as a GM. I thought with Klutch potentially backing off a bit due to the westbrook fiasco, he'd have a little more freedom to do his thing.

Looking at this free agency so far, I now really do wonder if we even need Pelinka at all. I mean, Klutch sports essentially runs the team at this point, so why do we need to pay a president of baseketball operations millions a year? They could've hired me to run free agency if this is the direction we are going in. Look at our last three MLE signings, all Klutch clients, Trez, Nunn and Lonnie Walker. Trez and Nunn did next to nothing here, and Walker is a questionable fit when we had bigger needs in other areas. We are wasting our most valuable resources every year to feed LeBron's pockets and we are wondering why the team declines in quality every year.

The longer term vision also seems baffling to me. We seem hell bent on saving every dollar we can find for the 2023 free agency, even at the risk of jeopardizing the Kyrie deal since we don't want Joe Harris apparently. So, out of curiosity, I took a look at the free agent list in 2023. And oh boy, is it a sh*t show waiting to happen. There are basically no stars who will be available. Only guys I would be interested in are Gary Trent, Myles Turner and DeAndre Hunter, and none of them is worth anywhere near the max if we are honest. Everyone else is an older near star level player like Vucevic or Harrison Barnes, that you wouldn't want to pay big money to or unproven players. Why save money at all cost for that sorry group of free agents? Hell, is Joe Harris even that much worse than Gary Trent to begin with? This FO just seems to plan things randomly

Bruce Brown, the Caruso-esque, pesky defender on Brooklyn just signed with Denver for Lonnie Walker money.

So annoying. He would’ve been perfect next to LeBron and AD.

Does Klutch really run "the team at this point" or have Jeanie and Rob merely "outsourced" the responsibility and are complicit in "more-than-strategic-'Klutch-Laker'-'partnership?'"

The signing of three more Klutch represented players might, indeed, be the tipping point of what may transpire in the future with the "'LeBron-Klutch' - Lakers 'relationship.'"

While hindsight is 20-20, Magic may have been correct in wanting to jettison Luke Walton for a more veteran coach when the team was pairing LeBron with a bunch of young talent (instead, Pelinka and the front office disparaged Magic to the press as an "absent" front office executive). That time in Laker franchise history is when the trigger probably should have been pulled to bring in a savvy-and-veteran coach who could both maximize LeBron's unique skills while, at the same time, develop the young talent. A more cohesive team with LeBron leading a "Young-Randle-Lonzo-Kuzma-Hart-DLo-Ingram-De'Andre Hunter" would be doing a lot better than what the team has put out onto the court the past few seasons. Instead of winning one fluke "bubble-summer league" championship, the Lakers would probably be competing at a high level each-and-every year.

Now, the media is reporting that the Lakers are trying to make a trade to bring onto the roster Kyrie Irving, a player who could not lead neither the Celtics nor the Nets; the Celtics actually improved when Irving left and signed with the Nets. While Irving is complimentary on the court with LeBron, Kyrie is also fragile (physically-and-emotionally) and had previously (while in Cleveland) abandoned LeBron when he, Irving, had demanded a trade to Boston.

Also, the media has reported that KD is in play to be traded to the Lakers, too. KD, a great player, left a conference championship contenting team in OKC, a title contending team in Golden State, and is now desiring to leave a team which he and Irving had basically built and run. How will KD respond while playing for a Laker franchise which gets national media exposure daily? Are Laker fans supposed to feel confident in a player who basically melted down against the Celtics and could not lead this past season's Nets team beyond a 1st round playoff sweep-loss-and-exit?

It comes across as "fantasy talk" when we push the narrative of creating potential Westbrook trades, especially when we do not see a bunch of teams inquiring about Westbrook's availability.

Unless the Lakers are willing to look at trading LeBron away for future assets (draft picks, expiring contracts, young talent), why not explore trading away AD for wing shooters and 3-and-D guys so that LeBron can operate in his power zone? Do Klutch and Jeanie have some sort-of "side deal (wink-win)" which is preventing Pelinka from exploring a LeBron trade? I highly doubt that a majority of Laker fans care if LeBron breaks the all-time scoring record wearing Laker jersey or not.

I am open to exploring all possibilities, including trading away both LeBron and AD; trading away AD, alone; trading away LeBron, alone; or just running it back with LeBron-AD-and Westbrook. It is hard, however, seeing how Irving, alone; KD, alone; or a combination of Irving and Durant will lead this Laker franchise back to the promised land, especially after after seeing this past season's Nets team get knocked out (they were swept in four-games) of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Can we just create new threads for free agency signings and trades? Its hard to flip through several pages to catch up in this thread when I wake up in European time.
