Lol Lebron would slap you silly if you did those trades. No one wants Laverne who would be the highest paid player on this team yet plays defense worse than Dlo. Are you his agent? They need to trade for Caruso.

Ya god forbid we turn trash into Zion and Lavine because according to you Lavine is a worse defender than dlo. Moot point now anyway though. You got your defender in dfs! I bet we are favorites to win it all now! :clown:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

The team are glad you are NOT their GM cause you would destroy them by making dumb trades. Zion is an overweight pig that can't stay on the court yet that you want the team to trade both their future 1st round picks for Lol

This is a great trade. You’ll realize very quickly how important DFS is within a few games.

He’s a winning player and we needed more winning players. Massive trade.

Still salaries and picks that can be moved in other deals.

But that other fan wants Zion....would you prefer Zion or DFS?

I not sure what their fans really want for the Lakers as I am just a sports fan, in general.

Zion is going to be a hard positional fit with Bron and AD... I would not mind him if Bron is retiring (injuries aside), but I don't think it's a fit vs DFS who is.

Also people - if you’re upset about the second round picks, you can buy second round picks every year. Also, more and more guys are taking the Austin Reaves strategy where they’ll tell teams not to draft them because they’d rather sign as an undrafted free agent with a team they find more desirable.

And Anthony Davis was a guy who never played on the pelicans then came to la and won a ring and played a ton of games once LeBron started declining. Weird how that works eh? You buy low on value dummy, not pay the highs. Try to see through the bs. Zion hasn’t wanted to play for the pelicans since before he was drafted. You are completely naive to completely dismiss the idea that he would behave differently if he got to go where he wants.

Since you are so confident dfs is the exact piece we needed, why don’t we make a bet on how far this team goes? Happy to set up a bet on Polymarket.

Athletic hyper efficient wing is a bad fit? You guys are taking one guy I mentioned in Zion and losing your minds over it. My point was we should have acquired a star w a 19mm expiring, not a dude who doesn’t make us contenders. But sure, let’s debate Zion to death. Yes I do think Zion freaking Williamson is a bigger value add than dfs in the context of trying to go for it all and swing for the fences in lebrons last year or two. We here for a participation second round exit trophy or we trying to win it all? What’s the objective?

This is not some star obsessed mentality. I literally posted about signing jay huff to a full time deal when he was on our g league team and I said numerous times we should go after ihart before he blew up on the Knicks. I’m just trying to be realistic. We have max one more season w LeBron. What do you want out of it? Dfs only makes sense if there’s a bigger trade in the works otherwise losing a 19mm expiring for him is a gigantic fail

I just got home, saw the replies about Zion and thought

But let's get a trade to work on spotrac for the

Pelicans Out: Zion
Peicans In: Rui, Gabe, Vando + 2 FRP's and how ever more pics etc

Lakers Out: Rui, Gabe, Vando and most likely 2 pics or more whatever else they have beyond that?
Laker In: Zion

Pelicans only have to waive 1 player

Would either team? Pelicans probably just to get Zion off their books and would Lakers do this? I'm not so sure??.

Honestly give Kessler/Sexton anyday

Trading for Zion is an interesting idea.
Trading DFS is definitely another story
To be realistic, Dlo + maybe Vando or Rui + JHS and picks for Zion is totally different from trading for DFS

Dlo on his own is a role player rather than an all star player at this point. You got what you have. Role player for role player.
Dlo is not the only expiring contract in the NBA. His value plummet in the past 2 post season.
If Zion is to be traded, I think the Pelicans can receive better package than Dlo + Rui + 2 picks. If Zion asked out to the Lakers, you can still put DFS in to the trade. So a Dlo + Lewis + 3 SRPs for DFS + Shake Milton is not a bad trade for me

The 3 SRPs hurt. We keep the FRPs in play though. We have better depth by swapping an unplayable Lewis to Milton.

Lewis is not ready yet, but maybe in 2-3 years I believe

Showtime:Part2 wrote:Dumb trade. Fire rob. Before you pounce on me, there’s no arguing dfs is an upgrade to dlo. That’s beside the point. It’s a bad use of assets. Picks and expirings should be used to get a needle mover. Dfs is an upgrade but we aren’t close to a contender. Now we don’t have a 19mm expiring salary to trade for a star (jimmy butler, Zion). I think I just have to come terms w the fact that Jeanie and rob have no intention of putting out a contender.

Before this trade, we could’ve put together about 25mil worth of expiring contracts. What star/‘needle mover’ is getting paid only 25mil?

This deal is good. It improves a clear area of weakness that should elevate our current ceiling, for minimal cost. Get a better backup C for salary and the remaining two 2nds we have, and I think we’ll be much better off

So I agree with your first point. There really wasn't much that could be done with DLo's $19mil. The Lakers were sorta stuck not being able to really make a push for anything we'd call great. That's sorta been my point in wanting a rebuild - that we don't have the realistic resources to add something great - and so we're in agreement there.

I disagree with your 2nd point. This isn't a good deal. It was a deal, to make a deal. Giving up 3 2nd round picks for a guy who sorta shores up a weak point.....but really doesn't move this team up into contention, is just lip service to either the fans, or Lebron. I'm not sure which (prob both), by this completely incapable FO. I mean, you essentially admitted as much. We couldn't get a "needle-mover" with DLo's contract....and right you are! We certainly didn't get one.

Almost all the facts still stand: 1)This team isn't a contender. 2) Lebron is in decline, and the end of the road is in sight. 3) AD's best days are behind him. And while there may be a good year or two left...he's never had it in him to lead a team anywhere, and he never will. This team will go as far as Lebron goes....and that get less and less. 4)The timeline for the inevitable rebuild hasn't moved.

But what has changed, is we now can't use our expiring contract to get picks. And in fact we're now 3 short on said picks that we will desperately need here in the near future. And for what???? Finney-Smith?? Give me a f**ing break.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
