i never said you dont need cardio, but if you are trying to bulk + do cardio then you have to eat a lot of calroies which can be expensive/difficult if you arent used to eating that much.

I'd rather gain strength and definition than bulk anyways. I don't see the point in bulking if you're not playing football.

I mostly eat meat, greens, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, fish, and vegetables. I also try to drink mostly water, outside of my protein shake.

If you're clean bulking then grilled chicken breasts, oatmeal and veggies is basically your diet foundation, you can throw in salmon, lean beef and unsaturated fats like Avocados etc etc.

Cardio unless its hiit increases cortisol which reduces your anabolic hormones. I wouldn't advise that to someone planing to gain size.

If you need to do cardio, do stuff like sprints and suicides

the thing with that is unless you're a long distance runner, extremely stressed, and arent getting adequate rest, the amount of cortisol released is not going to inhibit your weight training. Don't be doing any hour long cardio routines and this wont be an issue

Being a beginner weight lifter, him lifting weights will cause him to release more cortisol than experienced lifters as it is.

For any beginner I suggest strong lifts 5x5. The best thing to stack size.

Once you get to benching your body weight, squatting 1.5 times body weight and dead lifting twice you can move onto more specialized programs.

Calculate your maintenance calorie level and eat 500 cals additional for bulking, get upto 2x your body weight in grams of protein in your diet per day and drink plenty of water.

For supplements get a good whey protein with bcaas in it and add creatine mono hydrate. I also take vitamin d since I have dark complexion.

I'm on my phone right now and I'll post links for you later.

My max on bench is 205 squat is 225 and deadlift ?? I don't remember. I'm staying away from bench pressing cause I don't want a huge chest. But I'll continue with the squat rack and I could always buy me a deadlift bar (I'm setting my garage as a gym). I recently bought a calf raise machine to bulk up my pussy calves. That machine should do the trick right?

Even when you start benching 500+ you're not going to have this massive competition body builder chest unless you're like 5'3

No beer?

I drink like a fish when I go to glamis, the river or camping in general.

Occasionally. But it's really a lifestyle change if you want to see results. Sucks, but the sex increases.

How dare you guys ignore EArl's presence when talking about cardio. and when you want to have surfer abs, ask Stephano. don't trust his lifting regimen or else you'll tear something.

and 5x5 makes you look like an olympic lifter imo.

TyCobb wrote:My #1 recommendation for a warm up... jump rope for a couple songs on the ipod!

That's one thing I've incorporated into my workout virtually everyday. 5-10 minutes of jump-roping+3-6 sets of pull ups usually gets my body going. Plus I can get away from getting on the treadmill which is always a win.
