It fee great to be a fan of purple and gold. Forget what the haters say we deserve this imo. I'm dreaming of an Randle/okafor duo taking us into the next ten years (contending of course).

Shouldn't that get more play?
Adding to the fact it's possibly Kobe's finale.
The Kevin Love and Rondo rumors.
The emergence of Jordan Clarkson. Julius' return.
The Lakers will dominate the headlines once again sooner or later.

Naw and here's the reasons....Kilroy wrote:I'm kind of surprised that us getting the Second pick isn't bigger news... I mean Minni getting 1 is great but they've been in the lottery a lot lately. We haven't had many at all, we dropped to get Randle last season and we get the second this season...

For one while Minny has been in the lottery a lot they've never won it until now. Second the pressure is on them to make the pick that fits them, it's no secret that if they go with either big Peck will be traded.
And the media already knows Okafor and Towns would like to be here...that's their story they want later not now. They want to play with this for a few weeks. Watch how many leaks we see of Oakfor and Towns people wanting to get either of them here in LA.
Minny reps the unknown while we rep the obvious. Watch how it plays out.

This is one of those drafts where anybody in the top 4 might be glad the teams before them made their choice easy.
Don't want to have a Sam Bowie/Jordan feeling later. As much as I agree with the basic tenant that bigs are harder to come by and both bigs look great... Russell... tough call.

Like Doc said...workouts (and interviews) are going to be the deciding factor.
We're going to nab whoever has that special something. Just like Randle, just like Clarkson.

I just don't see Mitch and Co. Drafting somebody other than Okafor or Towns.
Sure Russell, Winslow , Porzingis, and Mudiay are great young prospects but we already got Kobe, JClark, Julius and Swaggy (lol).
We getting a big for sure Imo and hopefully they'll still go all out in free agency.

Even though taking one of the two bigs seems like a no brainer, I think it's gonna be hard to pass on Russell. I hope in the end the Lakers go with BPA and not try and base their decisions on position. Hopefully we'll start hearing some leaks as the Lakers bring in players for their workouts.

Re: NBA Draft Lottery 2015 | Lakers Pick #2, #27 and #34
Probably the first time I watched the lottery and I was already so happy when the 6th and 5th teams were announced. Weird though, I don't know if my coverage was very slightly delayed, but even during the commercial break between the 4th and the top 3, Real GM already listed the top 3 in order in the draft lottery article page. Was it really slightly delayed from where I'm from or does the media have advanced info on these things? Anybody else notice this?

Towns is the man. I just hope the Wolves pick Okafor at 1.

Mitch said last week "If we hold onto the Pick"...Unless Westbrook or Durant or Harden is coming to LA, you hold onto the pick.

Why not trade Jordan Hill for the 6th or 7th Pick and get Stien, Defense and rim protection.

Okafor will be off the board, Flip Saunders is set on him as the 1st overall pick.
Between Mudiay, Russell and Towns it is pretty close and a difficult choice, if you are like it seems, sgining Rondo, I guess you will go with Towsn that ius the guiy with the lowest ceiling out of those 3, but the one with the highest floor and the safest pick.

i would trade our #27 and #34 picks for a future 1st somewhere around the 15-20 range. move up in this draft for a wing. or package it with Hill or Young.

IMO Mitch should sell the pick for cash so we have enough room to max out Rondo and Deandre.

Re: NBA Draft Lottery 2015 | Lakers Pick #2, #27 and #34
How much influence does Kobe have on the #2 pick? This is a serious question, and I don't mean it to sound like I think Kobe has much influence over Mitch. I mean it from the standpoint of Mitch thinking ahead to post-Kobe life knowing that Kobe will be playing this year.
I think everyone agrees that Minny takes Towns or Okafor.
Scenario #1: Minny takes Towns
Does Mitch draft Okafor because he's not only a nice centerpiece, but because of Kobe's respect for Coach K, or does Mitch say that he is looking for that piece that could replace Kobe more directly, with Kobe's influence on the position this coming year (talking Russell here, of course). This could also be the difference between getting Love or Westbrook, later, assuming that this idea is still on the table, but I mention that only as an aside.
Scenario #2: Minny takes Okafor
I assume Mitch just takes the consensus #1 pick, but feel free to tell me if you think that's not a safe assumption.
Of course, if you think Okafor and Russell are on very different tiers, the question sounds dumb, but curious to hear opinions on this board.

DEEP3CL wrote:I don't make anything up, I read you board. You had a lot of guys there already saying the Lakers won't make the playoffs, they'll be bottom 6 or 7, and anything else a hater could think of. The reality of it is, we don't know what's going to happen from here til June 25th. There is on actual way anybody can predict what the Lakers will look like next season until free agency is completed and the draft is done.Unbreakable99 wrote:DEEP3CL wrote:Lot of salty kids on the GB and Philly board, ehh.....F'em. Guys are already talking about who fits better with who, so what if Okafor and Randle aren't you're classic ideal fit. You have to amass the best players period, and the game is played in a non conventional way anyway now.
For me forget all this talk about a guard...you have to ALWAYS grab a big if he can play, and it's obvious that Towns and Okafor can play. Both have their strengths and weakness, Towns is defensively ready and Okafor is offensively ready.
But it pisses me off that today's crop of guys that watch ball think that for one you can build the perfect team and second that guys are what they are as young players.
Hell even Duncan had holes in his game coming out of college, and he wasn't the defender he later developed to be. David Robinson anchored a lot of the defensive load in the early days of Duncan's career. Tim was also a horrid FT shooter early in his career...but he got better.
So bottom line is guys need to stop beating down Towns and Okafor, neither are your finished product and they both have a long way to being the players they'll end up being. I'm good with either of who we draft.
The pressure is on Minnesota, they have the first pick. This much is clear though, if they take a big then Peckovic is on the move. In fact a lot of players will be moved because of this very draft class.
Actually most of us Sixers fans are happy with the outcome. I'm happy we got the 3rd pick no one is salty. You are making up stuff. With that said I hope you guys take Okafor and leave Russell for us.
And for the record I also mentioned the GB also....weather you own up to it or not it's been a lot of salty guys on the GB, Sixer and Knick boards talking crap. Facts are facts.
Don't come here telling me what I'm doing, did you read your board in terms of the things being said about the Lakers ?
Because if you tell me otherwise I'm gonna pull quotes and post them so you can see what I'm talking about. With that said though the Sixers will still get a good player with the 3rd pick. Russell is the guy if Hinkie is smart as they say he is.
First of all someone saying the Lakers won't make the playoffs is not being salty by since you brought it up please show all the posts of Sixers fans being salty. Also who do you want the Lakers to draft?
