Re: 2017 NBA Draft Thread: Lakeshow edition
You should never pick a defensive player that high. Offense has way more influence on win totals in today's league. And yeah good defensive players can be had a lot later. They are simply not valued as much by NBA GMs and for good reason.

Replace Randle.
I wouldn't replace Randle, i'd run them together in our small ball lineup. Imagine Randle and Jordan Bell rim running with Lonzo feeding the the ball. Would be deadly in transition.
I'd be happy with Bam or Bell with the 28th.

If we get Bam at the 28th does that mean Tarik is cut?

You guys may not be looking at anyone outside of Ball and Fultz but ill throw this out there anyway.
Interesting take from Dunc'd On Basketball Podcast:

Interesting take from Dunc'd On Basketball Podcast:
Nate Duncan and Danny LeRoux prospect reviews on Isaac, Tatum and Jackson
Near draft season Nate and Danny do prospect reviews on the top 10 or so prospects after watching detailed game film on each prospect. I especially enjoy Nate's perspective since he watches more NBA than almost anyone and tends to look at prospects at how they would fit in today's NBA. For example his top 3 last year was Simmons, Brown and Murray and he was completely out on Dunn which looks good in retrospect.
Recently they started their draft review on the 3 wings in the 2017 NBA draft. Namely Jayson Tatum, Jonathan Isaac, and Josh Jackson in that order respectively. The prospect reviews are 15-20 minutes long and the links to the 3 reviews and the start time are linked below:
Podcast reviewing Jayson Tatum starts at the 34:55 minute markSpoiler:
Podcast reviewing Jonathan Isaac starts at the 41:23 minute markSpoiler:
Podcast reviewing Josh Jackson starts at the 31:50 minute markSpoiler:
After reviewing the 3 wing prospects they had the following ranking:Isaac
(big gap)
Tatum
(slight gap)
Jackson
They both agreed that the only wing prospect that might be worth a top 5 pick in this draft is Isaac.

Ball just seems like his game won't translate that well.
-Not a pick and roll player at all, high turnover rate when running it
-No midrange game. Those lack of attempts are startling. What do you think NBA defenders will make him do?
-Not a great athlete. He has size but in the half court I have my concerns. He doesn't blow by anyone with his speed. (not transition)
-Handle is so-so.
-Defense isn't very good.
Dlo and Ball back court will get torched by guards with any speed. And neither can really get to the rim that easily in the half-court.
I just think Fox, who has a definite weakness (his 3 point shot). Can develop that skill since he has everything else you want in a PG. He reminds me of Westbrook so much, who had the same concerns coming out of college.

Saw this on reddit.

Thoughts on this guy? He's pick no 42 on draftexpress mock draft.
On the most recent episode of college basketball podcast on The Ringer network, Tate Frazier told Titus that his UNC sources were saying that the Lakers guaranteed Tony Bradley they would take him if he was there at 28.
The pod was discussing some of the players testing the waters and combine results. Tate, of course, only wants to talk about UNC players, so Tony Bradley got quite a bit of discussion.
Tony supposedly will stay in the draft if he gets a promise from a team that he will go first round. Tate disclosed that the Lakers were the team to make such a promise. Because this conversation was about Bradley and not the Lakers, it seems like it might have some merit. Tate is very tuned in to UNC and hangs out with a lot of UNC alums now in the NBA.
As with everything this time of year, take this with a grain of salt. Might be total garbage. Might be legit. Still interesting.

I'm thinking they're using the Lakers to drum up some interest for personal workouts before withdrawing and going back to UNC if he doesn't get a commitment.

That shot chart for Lonzo, contradicts every other shot chart i've seen.
Care to post? I'd love to know where you've been getting misinformed from.
Its not that I have been misinformed, its that this shot chart groups everything from the basket to the three point line in one big group, which is pretty misleading. Anyone that looks at that chart would immediately think Lonzo is the best shooter from anywhere on the floor, in reality he only shoots from three and when he drives.
the one below, form draftexpress, paints a much more accurate picture.

That one doesn't contradict the initial one, the initial one just wasn't addressing frequency of the shooting visually besides the attempts on each. They both are showing his shooting is effective from basically everywhere he shoots with a dip on the left outside shots.

I think 80% +would say Ball. Some like Jackson or trading down for Fox, from what I've seen.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Thread: Lakeshow edition
Watching some of these workout vids posted by lakers nation, gotta admit it's pretty nice seeing magic Johnson out there and a relatively young and relatable looking person like pelinka representing the front office to these draftees and eventually free agents
