D'Lo vs Okafor was incredibly heated. It was a great big man who was a beast down low vs a guard who could be special. So far i think we've done well (mainly cause Scott would have destroyed Okafor in a year).

You go with Ingram who has the better all around game. He is the next Kobe or MJ. He fits with the lakers.

Russell, Randle, Clarkson, Nance, #2 pick and $60 mil in cap space. That is quite a haul compared to what we had when Kobe went down and Dwight left 3 years ago.

Posted a thread on the trade board if you want to see what other teams' fans are willing to offer for the #2:

We were waiting to see the whole time if lakers gonna get their pick. This way we know if we go with Coach for Melo or coach for young guys. Would be interesting if we name a coach this week and he's great at developing young players.

No one's giving up that much for Carmelo.

I woudln't even give up the 32nd pick for him. Don't want to kill our cap space, rather trade for someone else and have cap space

I think Philly goes Simmons just for sheer upside. I personally prefer Ingram atm (having researched much) just because there a lot of little flags around Simmons that I don't like. But this is a no brainer pick. The only conversation is if the Lakers attempt to trade the pick for a star play (please don't trade for Boogie or Bulter, bleh).

It's critical that Mitch doesn't waste that space on 2nd/3rd tier free agents so the Lakers can pick up another nice prospect in the lottery next year.

Isn't it top 3 protected again? Unless the Lakers stink it up again just as bad next year I don't think they should count on getting the ping pong balls rolling their way again. The core of Clarkson/Russell/Ingram/Randle will have to do.

I think both Simmons and Ingram are going to be special.

As an Aussie, I hope Simmons is a Laker and we can get Dante Exum in the future. I think the two will make an excellent combo because of their size and versatility. Maybe bring Andrew Bogut in a year or two from the Warriors as a backup centre and Patty Mills as a spark of the bench. haha.

If the Lakers do get Simmons though, it might be worthwhile to move Randle. I like his game but Simmons is an upgrade to what he does and you don't need two super dynamic 3-4 tweeners with underwhelming length, maybe try and move him for one of Denver's young bigs?

Anyway, best news as a Laker fan all year. Let the Post Kobe Era begin!

lol I don't think everyone has talked enough about how lucky we've gotten in this rebuild. If kobe stays healthier, we keep gasol etc, we easily could have ended up with a few late lottery picks and nothing else, instead of the core/assets we have now. I just hope Jim doesn't mess it up with with a crazy trade

Russ/Clarkson/Simmons in a Warrior type of offense (and Randle/NAnce or anyone we get for them in a trade, or FA's) will be amazing to watch next year, and Russ/Clarkson/Ingram/Randle will be a pretty ideal fit....either way, we're set...honestly I can't believe our good luck lol.

JUST NO TRADES....unless it's pick straight up for Cousins/George/Butler and some good FA's are ready to join.....trade for just the sake of making the playoffs next year desperately and I'm going to be so mad

I've been on Simmons from Day 1, this dude can do a lot more than Ingram. Ingram is a great shooter now and defender, but his rebounding scares me. Rebounding is about having an aggressive nature to do it, I see Ingram as nothing more than an average rebounder at best for his career.

Simmons on the other hand isn't a good shooter but as I always say most young guys especially bigs who need to shoot on the wing never come in the league as good shooters. Look back at Blake Griffin, he was erratic on the elbow shot now he hits at a cool clip. Ben will get better at shooting so this is moot for now. Now the part of Simmons game that stands out over Ingram is his playmaking ability, his rebounding and his ready now NBA frame, and his ability to get to the basket easy.

Simmons is our guy, I see the Sixers taking Ingram because they have a 4 in Noel already and Simmons doesn't fit. But I'd be satisfied if we landed Ingram, I just know it'll take some time for his body to fill in but he is stud.....we don't lose either way.
