Poor guy, he will be back though.

I say the team probably needs a backup C but for now the team is:

Bradley, Green, LBJ, AD, McGee for 24 minutes.
Caruso, KCP, LeBron, Kuzma, Dudley for 12 minutes.
Caruso, KCP, Green, Kuzma, AD for 12 minutes

We just lost one of our biggest competitive assets against the Clippers, Sixers, Nuggets, Blazers, Warriors.

Damn, what a blow.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Dear Rob,

Find us a 7 footer physical stud veteran from Croatia or Serbia who plays low post defense, rebounds and sets hard screens. That’s exactly what we need in a center. A big body who does the basics, makes few mistakes, anchors the defense. We already have our Olajuwon impact big volume scorer at the four, our playmaker and second scorer in LBJ and our budding star wing and third scorer in Kuzma. Get us a basic European veteran big with defense, rebounding and screen setting.

Or somehow magically trade a few of our one-way guards for Nurkic or Marc Gasol.

And no, don’t even think about plugging AD in at the five. He’ll be a Knick next season if you do. And injured come playoffs time.

I’d be happy with Noah, worst case. Great passer and defender. Howard? Absolutely not, never ever again, please, imho.

There goes our championship hopes. He would have been the X-Factor against some teams in the playoffs.

I think it is time to sign Dwight Howard as a backup C.

This was probably the most logical end to the Cousins Lakers experiment, but still... I got hyped about the possibility of a resurgence with us, and forgot logic...

We are really thin at C now... Like REALLY thin...

**** dwight... Might have to wait a while for the buyout market later in the season, but I would rather carry the spot until right before the playoffs than give Dwight another shot in LA.

With that type of comment, what were you expecting from a vet minimum contract player who has missed loads of games last few years due to several serious injuries?

This team is already paper thin in terms of depth and we're essentially capped out with little wiggle room to make a trade for another impact player. Getting 18-20 ppg and some much needed toughness in the paint was certainly in the realm of possibilities for Cousins, that's not far off from what he did with the Warriors.

Logically this might mean Kuz and AD both start with Kuz listed as Center. Then Melo gets signed so he and Javale are the backups

I would keep Cousins on the roster, rehab him with team doctors, and then retain him for the min next year thus showing a lil loyalty which looks good for the brand and hope he returns to the team. It’s very Andrew Bynum like

At this point, you'd have to be pretty skeptical. That's three major leg injuries in the past 18 months or so, two of which were structural. Doesn't seem fair given that he only just turned 29, but it's pretty safe to assume he's significantly damaged goods at this point.

It feels on cue for post Achilles rehab. The first two seasons after the surgery are essentially write offs because of the muscular imbalances introduced due to inactivity on one leg. I still feel the rehab is not designed well enough to address that issue.

Can't speak to that. Just feel bad for the dude, and especially us. We didn't have much margin for error to begin with, if at all, and it's that much smaller now.

What’s the scoop on this guy?

Kyle Hines.

He’s been playing in Moscow for the last six years. How comparable is the competition in the league he’s playing in? Is it at all?

Anyone else in the euroleague we should look at?

This especially exposes the lack of playmaking beyond LeBron and Caruso.

Yeah we lost some serious playmaking but even worse than that we lost a defensive low post anchor and a badass screen setter and a good rebounder. We’ll miss those attributes more than his playmaking, imho.

With AD and Kuzma (improved his playmaking greatly end of last season) and LBJ and Caruso. I know you don’t like Rondo, but I think JMG and AD will both get plenty of lobs between the five playmakers mentioned...

Another reason why I didn't want Cousins to start ...

It exposes a lot of things, frankly, not least of which is a decided lack of talent. Our roster was always going to be something of a house of cards given how we were forced to scramble after striking out of Kawhi. But I was hoping we could make it until at least the new year, and hopefully well past that, before the bodies started to drop.
