He and Durant will run it back with Simmons.

Well that's a letdown lol. Now I guess we're back to hoping for Hayward and Rozier.

Of course, Kyrie was not going to give up his player option year of his contract. The Nets are on the hook to pay Kyrie $36.5 million this upcoming season. There was no way that Kyrie was going to instead sign with the Lakers for $6 million.

Unless Pelinka has a plan to go "full reset," gut the team of its core assets (LeBron, AD and even Westbrook), and immediately begin the rebuilding process, the Lakers will be going into this upcoming season again with the core of LeBron-AD-Westbrook. Perhaps Phil is correct about building around Westbrook (Westbrook is durable, plays hard, and has, in the past, averaged a triple-double), and maybe Davin Ham has a better plan (than Vogel had) on how to get LeBron-AD-Westbrook to play better.

Kyrie, while perhaps the perfect compliment to LeBron, is less durable than AD, and that should frighten Laker nation. The Lakers may have dodged a bullet with Kyrie opting into his contract with Brooklyn.

We dodged a bullet. This Kyrie thing is not over. He opted in doesn’t mean the nets still want him.

And I wonder what kind of stunt is he up to, miss the first 20 games because of a sore knee, bar back or due to mental health reasons? He can just ask Ben, he knows what to say.

Honestly, I don't even want Kyrie. I just knew getting him meant Westbrook was off the team. I want that.

In all honestly, Kyrie would be a pretty good fit in LA. But he’s had a negative impact on every team he’s played on for the past 5 years and there weren’t any realistic way to get him anyway.

Yes, on the court, LeBron and Kyrie, as a tandem, have proven to be complimentary, play at a very high level, and lethal to opponents.

While in some ways Kyrie has brought awareness to serious social issues (Native-American (Kyrie's late mother was part Lakota), individual vs state, racial justice, etc.), he is also physically fragile (Kyrie misses more regular season games than AD), a defensive liability (on the court) and cannot be relied upon as a teammate (by refusing to get vaccinated, Kyrie pretty much destroyed the Nets ability to compete for a championship).

Lastly, Kyrie also quit on LeBron by telling the Cavs that he would shut down his season by getting surgery unless he was traded away from the team.

This isn’t necessarily the end of this story. He could still get traded or ask for a buyout .
The saga with this guy is never really over .

Sounds like a you problem. Life is too short to hate a man you've never met. Go outside and ride a bike to the beach.

Your post just made me re-evaluate my whole life and how I feel about Trump since I never met the guy. I’m gonna on bike ride now

I’d welcome Kyrie in a heartbeat! I’m all for anything that minimizes or outright remove Russ from the team.

I'd say nets sign and trade kyrie to lakers for AD. I do believe kyrie and lebron will run this team back to another banner. It won't be AD.

Since Kyrie is only 1 year, I really like this deal. I don't think Kyrie, and Lebron have it in them for another title. But who cares. We're basically free and clear next offseason.

If Lebron wanted to stay for another year or two (I'd want a discount so we can build something real) I am ok with that. Not enthusiastic, but ok with it. AD, Kyrie, Westbrick.....they can all take a hike.

I hope you're right. If we could actually get Kyrie to behave.....we might pull off a S&T next offeason for something worthwhile. I'm super down with this idea. I don't care if AD goes all beast in Brooklyn....I'm over it.
