I liked Goodwin as a POA defender yesterday. Reddish is very expendable now that DFS is here and Vando is back. We have like 7 wing players.

Given our current roster, I think Rob should let TraorƩ be on the farm team and let Goodwin stay to help our POA defense.

I'm sensing that Cam and probably Milton will get bought out.

I like cam being back you can't have too many athletic wing defenders. I mean what if vando gets injured again God forbid.

What's wrong with Daniel theis? This guy is being bought out go get him and have koloko come up from g league and sign him for the playoffs.

What need does theis fill? Rimprotection? Rimrolling? Screens?

Blessing in disguise.

As I've been saying, they don't need a center.

They need to cut Christian Wood and Hayes, and sign Jordan Goodwin and Keta Bates-Diop to the main roster, and go all-in on switching, swarming, small-ball basketball:

PG - Doncic - Reaves - Milton
SG - Vincent - Goodwin - James
C --- James - Hachimura - Morris
PF - Smith - Bates-Diop - Kleber
SF - Vanderbilt - Reddish - Knecht

I don't think this will work....but it's what we got. Might as well lean into reality. If it's a disaster....fine. Lesson learned, and we get bigger in the offseason.

Alex Lenn will sign with Indiana and Theis seems to be returning to Europe... This offseason, I think the perfect target for the LAKERS would be Zubac, he is a friend of Luka, he knows the house and is elite in what the LAKERS need, I'm not sure what it would take to get him away from the Clippers...secondly I would look at Claxton

The last bunch of games (without Davis) and have been near blow-outs (at least in the first half) and show that the Lakers new defensive plan can work!

The NBA has been moving away from the classic NBA 70s/80s type power centers are no longer a requirement. With the increase in 3-point scoring and the speed at which the game moves, a 270-lb, 7-footer would be lost. The best center in the NBA (Jovic) is both a passing-fool (big assists guy) and a 3-point threat.

If the Lakers can play an up-tempo game, with swarming defense while putting four hustling scoring threats with an at-least decent center (Hayes), that might be enough!

Look at all the Warrior championships the last bunch of years. anyone recall who the centers were on those teams?

Having Vando back is HIUGE, he is: MLFA (Making Lakers Fun Again)

Dont need a WIP injured center esp costing us Knecht, pick, pick swap.

There are NINE centers this summer (7 of them talker than 7 feet) waiting to be drafted. All anticipated to go 2nd round:

Zkarsky 7’3ā€ 230
Kalkbrenner 7’2ā€ 250

I'm actually happy that the trade was rescinded. MW was a high risk guy, not just injury wise, but defense wise as well. It's very hard to build a contender when your center is not at least neutral on defense and right now he is one of the worsts in the league.

I think we can be better with both Biyombo or Bamba this year than with Mark. And having Knecht and Reddish back means that we don't need to see Milton taking regular minutes. I'd probably go with something like this (by waiving Wood):
Vincent (20) / Reaves (28)
Doncic (36) / Knecht (12)
DFS (24) / Rui (24)
Lebron (32) / Vanderbilt (16)
Bamba or Biyombo (20) / Hayes (24) / Rui (4)

End of bench: Reddish, Milton, Goodwin, Markieff, Koloko, Bronny

I said I like Dalton but Mark is more of what we need so I'm okay with the trade. Now that the trade is not happening I'm still fine with that decision. Dalton could get hot offensively and we need that from the bench. He could shoot and he could attack the basket. Let's just roll with Jaxon now as our C. I think Luka could elevate his game. I'm not a fan of small ball but I think Bron will have to play C once Jax takes a rest.

I think Biyombo just signed a 10-day with the Spurs

I think Biyombo just signed a 10-day with the Spurs

Yes, I know, but they haven't signed him for the remainder of the season. At worst, we can jump in next week and say that we offer Biyombo a vet min deal for the remainder of the season.

Either way, I don't think there's a big difference impactwise between him and Bamba currently. If Biyombo is close to what he was 2 years ago w/ the Suns, I'd love him: We would probably have a lot of Andre Drummond flashbacks (w/ all the fumbles, missed layups etc...), but apart from the abysmal offense, his rim protection and overall defensive IQ is/was good. With a lineup where you have Doncic, Lebron and an average PG (like Vincent), there is a lot of opportunity for quality passing, plus the spacing with them and DFS would also be quite nice. That would mean, Biyombo has almost zero pressure to produce anything on offense, except finishing some open layups.

But it can very well turn out that he is washed by now. He looked way older than 30 2 years ago and it's quite probable he regressed since then. Bamba however is probably the same player as who he was when he played for us. He wasn't good by any means, but he was neither a disaster. He is around the 54% mark in DEPM ranking, in comparison DLO is around (the bottom) 27%, Lebron is 34%, Vando is 62%, Hayes is around 71%. (Mark Williams was at 1%). He won't provide any interior offense, but if he can get his shot back to what it was in the past 3 years, he can be a nice stretch 5, providing extra spacing (and allowing an extra defender to play with Lebron, Luka and DFS). The more I think about it, the more I'm speaking myself into Bamba...

Actually with him I can imagine running a Doncic-DFS-Vando-Lebron-Bamba lineup occasionally. Probably the biggest in the league. Vando can serve as a rim-runner while providing POA defense without sacrificing much of the spacing - as everyone except him can hit the open 3. Bamba can be a stretch 5 while providing some rim protection - which is probably better than putting Vando in C - next to Vincent, Doncic, Bron and DFS
