Smart move, he's incredibly young and if he develops this coming year and has a decent season (not even good or great) with near starting minutes or starting minutes, i think with his athletic gifts, you're talking about him as a top 5 pick. Its a shame because i would have been happy if we took with him with our 28th pick and tried to develop him for now.

I was hoping to get Diallo with the Houston pick.

I'd also be happy with Bam at the 28th as well.

Giles is a major risk, if he's around 35-45, let's buy a second rounder and use it on him. At least we know what we're getting with Bam, although Bam is pretty much a younger Black.

Just heard that the Lakers Outsiders podcast host said that his sources within the organization are saying Lonzo is all but a formality and the org apparently loves him. Is he legit?

You know nothing, Jon Snow.

But seriously though, don't believe everything the media says. But it sure does seem like we are going to pick Lonzo.

No one here knows for sure, but for this team, Ball is pretty much the perfect prospect for this Lakers team. Right now, the Lakers young core have only adapted Luke's vision of pushing pace. Unfortunately, they severely lack in creating shots for others and moving the ball. It's pretty much each player will 1st try to do something for themselves, and then pass it off because they don't have anything.

Lonzo Ball, while ceiling may be a bit lower than Fultz, plays the type the game that fits Luke's system and this young core perfectly. He pushes the ball but as opposed to the Lakers core, his main goal is to setup someone. If that translates to the NBA it would be the key into uncapping the potential of the likes of Ingram, Russell, and Randle. The biggest question I have with Ball is will his production translate to the NBA? He's an average athlete and in my opinion there will be issues with him on defensively, especially teamed up with Russell. But he's an elite passer and while ugly, an above average shooter. He also definitely needs to build on his body, although not as extreme as it was for Ingram.

All in all, Lavar be damned, I'm sold on Lonzo and the Lakers can't pass on him.

If we don't know about Rob and Magic we know that Luke Loves him!! He said it himself so we can use that as a starter.

TBH I thought Luke's comments were very diplomatic and phrased carefully, the posts by LakersNation to me sound like they're making pretty great leaps at what he really means.

We are going to pick Lonzo because of the narrative and hype despite the fact all the holes in his game and Lavar's baggage. Most front offices are predictable and uncreative so Ball will be the pick. All the other players have holes as well so if they keep the number 2 they'll play if safe.

hmm Ramona saying it's only 50/50 that the Lakers are taking Ball. A lot of intrigue with Jackson, Fox, Fulz, and Tatum.

My only worry is Ball going #1.

I'm still on the page that Fox, with his defense and speed, is the pick. And I think you try to trade down 1-2 spots, dumping Deng in the process for someone who wants Ball.

I heard that. I also heard Geeter say the same thing.

Draft prospect of the day: Harry Giles (F/C, Duke)

I would take him at 28 but he'll be gone by then.

That's my concern as well Big Game. I get the feeling all these guys we're falling in love with like Giles, Bam, and Bell will be off the board when it's our turn to pick. We're not the only fan base that would love to have these guys and I'm sure a lot of front offices feel the same way. If these talented guys actually do fall to 28 it could very well be for good reason.

Me too, I'm no pro scout but I have Ball 5th behind the other 4 (Fultz, Jackson, Tatum, Fox) so if they take Ball, then I'll be happy with whoever we get.

If Ball went 1st then we take Fultz.

Also if we're higher on Fox etc (seriously why would you be) then i think it would be worthwhile trading down to 4 or 5 and seeing what kind of deal we can do with Phoenix/Sacramento.
