Whatever your personal opinions of ball are, I think it's pretty clear the new regime of the Lakers is pretty high on him... I doubt we move him for anybody. I get the feeling Magic went rogue including him in the AD discussions.
So unless there's absolutely no way to make an AD deal work without including Ball, I doubt he gets moved at all... Certainly not for a draft pick in this draft.

I haven't gotten that sense from the new regime... .they seem more interested in cya at the moment. I get it however, he's under contract longer and we probably have one more year before we have to start thinking about long term contracts with him.
We'll find out about the who was going to trade who for what I'm sure in the next 3 months. I find it hard to believe it was all just Magic and that he was doing strictly alone. It showed our hand.... that we're willing to dump everyone for Davis. Not sure we're coming back from that for a while. Hope I'm wrong but the arrogance we've been displaying is going to increase the cost of business for most of our potential trade partners.

We would easily move him in a deal for AD
Especially if we think we can get Kyrie/Kemba
If we miss out on Kemba/Kyrie, want to keep ZO, and get AD:
BI, #4, Kuzma, Hart or Wagner, Bonga, 2 future 1sts and future pick swap. Hope thats enough
Lonzo, Lebron, AD, Wagner, and 25M in cap space plus room exception of 4.5M. Build with depth if no Kyrie or Kemba. If we want max then Wagner has to be moved as well.
Lonzo, Wes Matthews(5M), Bogdan (12M), Lebron, AD
8M for a guy like Morris/Aminu/Ariza hopefully, Wagner, and get someone decent with the 4.5M exception
Solid 8 man rotation, hopefully 1 or 2 guys at vet min are playable in a playoff series.

Re: All things number 4. Trade or draft? Let the rumors begin
changed his shooting form from freshman year to sophmore, went from 38% to 30% from 3pt, but he was a lot less open his sophomore year. went from 65% to 71% at the FT line though.
still, shooting wise, not encouraging.
that said, darius garland shooting at the FT line was only 75% though

Re: All things number 4. Trade or draft? Let the rumors begin
You need to put things into context. There are Derek Fisher shots and there are Kobe shots. Apples to oranges, not the same thing.
His % went way down when the coach put the ball in his hands and asked him to be the playmaker, midway through his sophomore year. Him shooting 38% as a freshman, while playing off the ball and shooting mostly set shots is actually encouraging, since that's the role he'll play here in the beginning.
Nobody is gonna ask him to run the offense with Lebron/Ball/Ingram on the team.

Re: All things number 4. Trade or draft? Let the rumors begin
Sure, but I'd still want a >85% FT shooter. Seeing as FT% is the best predictor of 3pt shooting ability at the NBA level.
IIRC, Ingram and Lonzo both shot 40+% from 3pt in college but with piddling FT% as well (<75%). The shooting did not translate.
Just from last year, we needed a zone buster in the worst way and on the nights we shot well, the Lakers were close to unbeatable. Problem, those nights were few and far between.

Culver may take up the same spots and function in the offense as LeBron and BI.
You guys would be better off taking Garland and perhaps Hunter if you can get another pick in the mid-lottery.

A player that shoots >85% from the FT line plus has other elite skills don't exist, at least not in this draft. Those type of players are rare. None of the projected top 10 players are anywhere near >85%.

Sure, >85% from FT might be asking a bit too much.
But my point still stands, outside shooting is our major weakness, it should be the top, second and third priority we need to address.

Garland only had 16 FTAs. He played only 4 games.
