Yup, I am indeed back in my wonderful home city of Los Angeles,CA! I finished up med school early last year, and now I'm a resident physician in head and neck surgery. The hours are kinda brutal which is why I mostly just lurk these days... but I still read this forum at least 2 or 3 times a week.

I can't tell you enough how great it is to finally have left that miserably little city of Boston after 7 years... Here's an interesting fact: I left LA in 2002 (our last ring with the Shaq-Kobe lakers), was gone for 7 years (during which time we didnt win another ring), and came back in 2009 (and we won again!)...

Hmm... coincidence????? HOPEFULLY NOT as this will bode well for us tomorrow night

*sigh* This forum site has really gone downhill, in general, since I stopped posting regularly. There is no true debate or coherent two-way conversations or well thought-up/constructive opening posts/topics. Most are too concerned about getting their own biased opinion accepted by people who are too concerned about sticking with their own biased opinion; which generally creates tension, hate, disappointment, etc. I've stopped posting, but have never stopped reading; and since I've stopped posting, I've explored others forum links (general board, opposing team boards, etc.). And I can say it's truthfully ugly... perhaps it is because RealGM has become more popular that it is treated, by many newcomers, as a (I say this loosely) "street community" (ie anything goes, defend your team, you hate, your biased, agendas, etc.). Whatever... /rant.

BTW... how are all of you doing?

Hmm... Well, I don't really watch too much TV, but from what I've seen in Scrubs, its actually a lot closer to the reality of being a resident than other shows like Grey's or House (House is probably the furthest away from reality that I've seen). Overall though, I'd say that no, none of the shows are really all that accurate, because if they were then the show would be pretty boring!

Edit: although I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who does surgery. Scrubs for the most part seems like its portraying life in an Internal Medicine residency. For us in surgery, we usually start to round on anywhere from 10-30 patients in the mornign starting from around 5-6 AM or so, go to the OR by 730-830 AM, operate for most of the morning/day, check up on all the patients a second time in the afternoon/evening, and then (hoepfully) go home provided that you are not the one on call, and that there are not any surgical emergencies in the ER that need to be attended to. Our days are fairly routine.
