yeah finally saw it today, legitimately one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The dance scene was **** hilarious.

My only gripe was the movie should have ended with the elevator shot, but other than that excellent all around.

I've had Motrin for tooth pain which I might have abused once but never Oxy and Xanax.

That's my point..

I don't either... A guy's gay... So what... Kardashian's... Avoid it...

Caitlin Jenner or whatever her name is, is a relatively unattractive woman (Looks like a "Real Houswife"), who has essentially done nothing of interest in life but once be a man. That's the new identity.

But there are so many unfathomable layers to this one...

Here's a guy who did so many amazing things as a man... One of the greatest Olympians ever... Icon for a Generation... Hugely successful business man... Not to mention husband and father...

And essentially overnight, none of that is important anymore... None of it really matters. It's a chapter in a closed book.

All because of a decision... And to be clear. NOT a sexual decision. I'm not even sure what the decision is, actually... He's living as a woman? Really? All the time? Or just when it's convenient?
That kind of decision in my mind isn't even about sex. It's about identity... And if you change your identity, the old identity goes away.
That's the part of it I cant get around. As far as identity's go... You really can't do a whole lot better than "Bruce Jenner"... I'm sure you could find a way to sleep with whoever you wanted and still be "Bruce Jenner." No need to throw away a good identity for no reason.

Frankly, I'm not well read into this situation, but i'd gather the reason this has gained so much steam is because the increasingly egalitarian, tolerant zeitgeist are like moths to the proverbial "LBGT acceptance" flame. Also, it's goddamn bizzare.

In regards to his past life being erased, I don't know if that's solely your opinion or the general pop/media, but that doesn't change what he accomplished. The demographic who is interested in the kardashian machinations either never cared or don't know about his career, hence the general apathy.

My 2 cents, it is kind of weird about his(?) half-hearted foray into transgenderism - I mean, **** or get off the pot, right?

I read that (s)he still prefers the ladies. I mean I know things are complicated with that family but this might give me an aneurysm just thinking about the logic of it.

I think it's the nature of the transformation... I don't think it has to do with opinion, or 3rd party interest. He's changed his name and gone from a man to living as a woman. He's switching identities in pretty much the most extreme way possible, and doing it in public. His Caitlin coming out party effectively closes the door on "Bruce Jenner."
Sure, Bruce Jenner's accomplishments don't actually go away... They're historical fact. But all those accomplishments were made by a man named Bruce... In fact, they could ONLY, according to the rules of sport, be made by a man. And Caitlin killed off that man in the most public way.
I don't know how many transgender people everyone knows or has been aware of, but generally if they make that statement/transformation, they do not want to be reminded of who they were before. They want everyone to forget and act like that person was a mistake and no longer exists... Which in and of itself, is a mostly untenable, psychological dilemma. Like you said, those things don't go away.
But if that's what Caitlin wants, and if like you also said, we're all supposed to jump on the LBGT bandwagon... Then Bruce has to cease to exist.
But therein lies the rub... Because I don't think this is even an LBGT issue. It goes beyond sexual preference... And maybe in this case has little to do with it at all... It's a Physical Identity/Psychological issue... It seems to be more along the lines of excessive plastic surgery, anorexia, bulimia, and the like...

I didn't intend to dive deep into this, so I'll stop there, but that's why I just can't get my head around it all... It starts off being weird, then the more you think about it, it gets more and more confusing and maybe a little troubling.

There's all sorts of possibly troubling statements about the mental health of our society there too... Not just about LBGT issues, or the tabloids, but about the death of truth and honesty, as well as compassion and privacy.
