So a guy out side the NBA right now with no one knocking on his door is not up for a 3 year deal with the owner willing to do whatever it takes to win during that 3 year term..... Hmm.... That says a lot.... about what I'm not quite sure however.

So many posters on this board who didn’t want Lue including some mods said they wanted Lues contract to match up with Lebrons. I think rob did the right thing. Lue wouldn’t have a championship at all without Lebron and Kyrie. Lue was right place at right time when they won that one championship. I get that he wants to get paid but he’s over valuing himself. I think rob did the right thing on this one. Lue will be back watch. Lue has been offered no coaching jobs since Lebron left.

Everyone who wins a championship is at the right place at the right time. Over half of all NBA Championships are held by 4 teams so you have to be very fortunate to win one.

Look at one of kyries bffs instagram posts (onbompton) he says Kyrie going lakers. ALSO.. Kyrie supposedly doesn't like Lue. Put the two and two together and maybe it was deliberate for the Lakers not to sign Lue for this reason cause LBJ told them Kyrie coming to the Lakers!!!

Well if Kyrie really is coming to the Lakers then Lue may make sense if they want to hit the ground running.

One name i'm surprised isn't being mentioned that actually is a good coach is Dave Joeger, i have no idea what on earth Sacramento where thinking with this one. That team won about 10 more games than it should have yet they still fired him. One thing he would fix that Walton was downright horrible at doing at times is fixing our woeful defensive display.

Kokosov would be good on a development standpoint but with Lebron, maybe not.

I can’t imagine a coach winning a ring on simply luck alone esp when you have 2 HOFs beating 4 HOFs... if the contract length was an issue, then pay the premium like when they paid 18 mil to KCP for one year... Jason Kidd would probably backstab Lue every chance he gets and he has not proven whatsoever he can be great at anyt except maybe nurturing a player.

Since when has contract length prevented a team from firing a coach?

As for "luck"..... many very good coaches have been paired with very good players and still not won championships. 72 champions and LA, Boston, Chi, GS and SA have 50 of them.

No good players or coaches ever existed on any of those other teams.... over 70 years? The NBA has more concentrated championships than any other sport. I think there is always a little good fortune in there regardless of the players/coaches etc.

I don't follow the NBA much anymore but get someone that has no relation to LeBron. Odds are if you get a LeBron boy, he won't be here in 4 years. I was so happy when I heard Lue contracts fell apart. Lue has no prospects and thinks he is a high caliber coach because he won with LeBron. It is all just a joke.

This team continues to be a joke.

Lionel Hollins? Mike Woodson? What?

Where's the Van Gundy's, where's Jay Wright, where's John Beilein?

PLEASE RESET THIS ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you fire him when LeBron is gone. Lakers are penny-pinching here. It's not about locking in a coach for 5 years.

As a Lakers and United fan, I've never been more dissatisfied in sports for the past 5 years than ever before. Both coming after great runs, historical people from the organization left and the chaos begun. Questionable to horrible decision making over and over and over again, undewhelming results and this cycle is not close to being over. It **** goes on.

The hate for lebron and the surrounding circumstances just hid what a disaster the front office is. Linda Rambis? Seriously? Could've had Jerry West running things. Instead, they have this mess. Jeanie Buss would be doing the team a huge favor if she sold the Lakers.

Am I the only one that thinks Lue comes out of this looking a little douchey? He's got no other offers, but wants the "Championship Deal?"
It seems like he figured he was going to just step into the roll, get paid and have job security...

No question our FO is dysfunctionalAF right now... But still, Lue sounds like an opportunist in all of this.

Good riddance.

That said, this is all starting to sound a bit like Rambis trying to elbow his way into the head coaching gig again... Which would absolutely be the bitter cherry on top of this Embarrassment-Sunday...

I'm seriously starting to wonder if the only way I can still be a Laker fan is if I stay off the internet and sports news until around Christmas...

Just go all in.

Kobe as Ambassador
Shaw as head coach
Phil as associate in Tex Winters role
Rambis as president of basketball ops

Before the hate for LeBron there was the hate for Jim Buss, the common denominator is revealing itself.

Not sure how it works with coaching contracts but Lue has a contract with the Cavs until 2022. If he gets a new job he may need to cancel that contract, meaning that signing a 3-year deal gives him nothing more than he already has except he'd have all the added stress of coaching again.

So I don't think it's douchey to ask for an extension of 2 years on to his existing salary to work as the Lakers head coach. It's more douchey to ask a guy to work for your business when he'd get paid the same while sitting at home in his underpants.
