I loved watching him when he was at Louisville. To bad he never turned into an NBA stud like I wished he would :(

seriously Pietrus? that guy is dumb as a door knob.....dont be enamored with his 3pt shot, I guess you weren't watching Bos/Orl series enough if you prefer Pietreus over Artest, Pierce made Pietreus his personal biatch.

But isn't he so cute in that commercial when he fixes that mans hair after falling on him?

At this point I don't see Wilcox being that much more useful than the Powell/Mbenga combo.

With Darren Collison possibly available, the Lakers desperately need him. He plays top 5 PG D already, is one of the quickest players in the league, hits the 3 at 40%, and would be an excellent pairing of skills with Fish.

Rival executives will continue to try to convince the Hornets to make Chris Paul available in trades, pointing to the fact that Williams can simply slide the promising Darren Collison and his modest $1.4 million salary into that spot. When those teams get shot down, look for the Hornets -- based on the hints we've received from more than one exec -- to make Collison available as long as the interested party is willing to take back the cap-clogging contract of Emeka Okafor, James Posey or Peja Stojakovic with Paul's backup.

Other than a trade involving Bynum I can't see any other players could end up being the main piece for a trade if we were to take in one of those guys. I don't think the Hornets would be interest in Bynum anyway.

I think if Raptors really wanted to they might explore a package involving Darren Collison and Emeka Okafor. Even though the Hornets are trying to shed some bad contracts because of the luxury tax, I think the FO would have to consider pairing Bosh and CP3 together.

Darren Collison

Post#530 » by KingLakers » Sun Jun 13, 2010 6:32 am

There is an article talking about how the Hornets are willing to trade Collison if a team would also take one of their big contracts with him. How about a trade where the Lakers send Sasha, Farmar, 43rd pick to the Hornets for Posey and Collison. Posey fits that back up SG/SF need the Lakers have on their bench he can hit the three and Collison is the PG of the future for the Lakers and he's a 40% shooter from the three. This trade solves every need the Lakers have in the summer.
2010-2011 Lakers
PG. FIsher, Collison
SG. Kobe, Shannon, rookie
SF. Artest, Posey, Walton
PF. Pau, Odom, Powell
C. Bynum, rookie
This trade does screw up the Lakers cap for a couple of years but I think it worth taking that hit if they can get Collison into the lineup.

Our salary level is already sky high. It is not likely that we are going to take on additional contracts without giving up one or more our existing long term contracts. Much as I like Collison, he is not going to come here.

Actually if u combine the contracts of Posey and Collison they are actually lower than combined value of the contracts of Sasha and Farmar the difference is the years. So actually the Lakers payroll could drop a little if a trade like that happens.

If LA is already resigned to signing an MLE PG at 5 mil or so, I'd take Posey/Collison in s Vuja xchange. The in / out this year would be a plus... and next year the Posey+Collison minus the amount that would've gone to the MLE player would only be about + 3 mil... Salary match is the prob.

its would better if;
Sasha for Delonte West
Sasha for Mike Bibby
Sasha for Chalmers + Jermaine Jones
Sasha + Shannon/Farmar for Jason Kidd
Sasha for Jarret Jack
etc

Sasha expiring is very valuable at this point.

Jajwanda wrote:Well considering half the bench is garbage it won't be hard to improve:

- Steve Blake
- Roger Mason

for the MLE

plus trade Sasha for a decent backup SF/PF and draft a defensive PG.

I actually like Blake and Mason split for the MLE. With such little cap room improving at the starting PG and adding some fire power to the bench won't be easy. Mason and Blake for the MLE split sounds like a steal.

Blake would provide 3 point shooting that the Lakers can desperately use while providing play making at a low turnover rate.

Mason could prove to be hard to obtain because he was disappointed last season when his minutes were severely reduced. However I think the Lakers can ensure him some quality minutes off the bench because of the Lakers lack of depth. Off the bench he would most likely be the 1st or 2nd option so he might be open to that role. Plus when it comes time for the playoffs he would be a huge part of the rotation.

Mason could easily get 25-28 mins in a 3 man rotation with Kobe/Artest taking Vujacic, Brown and Walton's mins.

warning *spoiler* :D

out of all the free agents, I think mike miller is the one that really has a high possibility of signing here.

lakers needs a shooter

hes best friends with gasol, they played together for a long time. he can convince him to sign here.

hes getting old, therefore he'll be looking to sign where he can win a ring. playing time does not matter anymore. and what's more best way to do that, than play along side your longtime buddy; gasol.

hes not gonna get more than mle for sure and mle that we have

and hes definitely better than korver. he can also play point-forward for short stretches...he is just what we need

i am an alumnus of spc and while attending games the kid would shoot from half court as if he were standing right next to the basket. good ballhandling, good passing abilities, good court vision, suspect defense but can get steals and create oppurtunities
