Is Byunm's list of teams are the ones he would extend with or what?

I see no reason he would test free agency, he clearly doesn't care about playing in a big market, or he would have issues with leaving LA, and he wants to be the #1 option, which won't happen here. He'll go anywhere that pays him the max and gives him full power over the offense.

Everybody is testing FA if they signed a contract during the last CBA and are not a RFA. They make more money by becoming a UFA and then signing a contract. So yes, Bynum is becoming a FA whether he re-signs here (if we don't trade him) or not.

Really, I don't blame the Cavs to do this approach because they got burned by a star before, Lebron. They are approaching the deal with a great deal of precaution.

I've talked to several executives who have engaged in Dwight Howard trade talks with the Magic. Orlando wants picks and prospects back.

Houston, Dallas, and Cleveland are the three teams he'd re-sign.

Magic don't want vets who will keep the team competitive and finish as 8th seed. They want to stockpile young talent and completely rebuild.

Then why haven't they traded with Houston yet?

I actually think Bynum would seriously consider an extension instead of waiting to test free agency... why you ask? Well, he's only had one good healthy season and that was the season that just ended... if he plays next season and gets injured again his total dollar amount will significantly go down and he wouldn't get a max contract, if he signs a max extension now he'd be getting it based on his last season and even if he did get injured next season he'd still have his max dollars regardless.

i think people are making a distinction between "testing free agency" and "becoming a FA".

I assume that Houston was low balling the Magic and now the three teams deal pops up to use as the leverage to get more out of Houston if they budge to it. Basically, Orlando is milking out everybody much milk as they possibly can.

Cavs make a deal with Bynum, they are relevant again in the East with Irving.
I would think Bynum would wait to sign an extension after next season, for the extra money, but then again, maybe he will look at Blake Griffin's situation and sign right away.

Well people need to be more clear. Those things are literally one and the same.

I agree, but is it what Dan Gilbert thinks?

eh, i think testing free agency implies that you're listening to offers from different suitors.
bynum, i think, can easily commit to the cavs and vice versa and still become a free agent only to be able to sign a brand new deal. in that case i don't think he'd be seen as "testing" free agency.

The realistic the deal becomes and I think Bynum would be willing to sign the extension with a word from someone who would remind him, Blake Griffin.

Probasketballdraft @Probballdraft
According to multiple sources Magic would likely get Anderson Varejao plus picks and prospects.
Not sure how this trade's perceived but seems like Cavs give up everything to allow Dwight to be a Laker. What price is too much for Bynum?
Wondering why Varejao would be included in Dwight deal, he is signed to a modest contract for multiple years, averaged around double double.
In Oklahoma City, there are a lot of fans of Varejao. Connect the dots plus Rob Hennigan would have a great trade chip for later
In reference to an earlier tweet Magic GM was part of a Thunder front office that liked Anderson Varejao. Varejao's possible inclusion to a deal is a sign that Magic need a replacement starter to Dwight and that Hennigan can easily move Varejao at the trade deadline or later

I doubt the trade will happen soon and I wouldn't be surprised to see it drag on till September

Do you honestly think Orlando and D12 want this Dwightmare to drag on till September? I very highly doubt it. Howard might not get traded this week but I believe he'll be traded sometime this month.

Wtf is D12 anyways, under a rock? He should be man enough to face the music and disclose where he would like to play publically.
So much here say and rumors, this story got stale.
