I spent a few weeks in Albany where my friend was going to grad school. Really nice in the summer.

Where did he go to grad school? I just got accepted into Syracuse Law/the Newhouse school to get my joint JD/Masters in communications, but I'm apprehensive because I've never spent any time in upstate New York.

He did his phd in nanoscience at suny albany. ibm has research labs there. Upstate NY is nice in summers and you can take a train to Park Station I believe but it gets cold as **** in winters. Close to Niagara too so you can drive to Toronto for a good weekend.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I'm a little sad that its so far from NYC, but the flights I saw from SYR to NYC were only $140 round trip, so that doesn't seem too bad.
I'm not really used to cold af winters either, and I've barely experienced snow. I think I can learn to adjust tho.

The cold, snow and sleet is terrible, I won't sugarcoat it. It gets down to -10 and windy as **** sometimes so be prepared to wake up 30 mins early in the morning and scrape ice off your windshield if you don't have a garage.
On the other hand, the rent is so dirt cheap that you could probably afford a nice house for half the money you'd pay for your apartment in LA.
