Lakers could then try to sign one of the better SF free agents this summer.. Deng, Ariza, or Carmelo..
Resign Pau, and the draft a young prospect with the 17th. If the Lakers could afford it, then can sign Monroe or just let Sacre start at Center.

Lakers would then have a starting line up of

Rajon Rondo/Farmar
Kobe Bryant/Bazemore
Deng-Carmelo-Ariza/17th pick
Pau Gasol/Ryan Kelly
Sacre/ Free agent

Thoughts?

Still not better than Miami/OKC.
That is an old core with no upside.
So no.

I don't trust Rondo to stay, I didn't like his play this last season and I'd rather draft Smart if I wanted a PG.

so we cant sign and trade monroe.

then dont S&T, just trade for him same way Hou traded for Harden and then gave him the big contract. Either way we cant get Monroe without possibility of Det. matching the offer.

get 2-3 young players with good potential.

farmar,exum/smart,johnson,hill,harris,collison,henry/bazemore

and then sign a bunch of former all star players for cheap to 1 year contracts.

granger/butler/marion/kaman

give gasol 2 years for $26 m. with the last year having a TO.

gasol,kaman,sacre
marion,hill
granger,johnson
kobe,nash,henry/bazemore
exum/smart,farmar/collison/harris,nash

possible future line up in 15

gasol,hill,sacre
love,marion
kobe,johnson,granger
smart/exum,henry/bazemore
collison,farmar

I think if we dont get a long term or big name FA this off-season I like the idea of front loading Pau's contract with 2nd year TO, but agreement would be we dont pick up his option but we do resign him AFTER we get our guy in 2015. Say 2yrs 25mill or something with no trade clause (if he qualifies, just to give him reassurance). Would make 1st year 15mill, so could equate that to someone offering him 3 years at 6-8mill a year. After we get our guy in 2015, I would reup pau at another 2yrs at about 6mill or less per year guranteeing him ability to retire a laker.

We can only frontload the contract with a bonus of 15% of the total amount of the contract.. 15/10 wouldn't be possible.

Some Portland fans seem to want to dump Batum's contract to re-sign LMA & add to their bench. I would be all for that.. Perfect 3rd wheel to Kobe & Love.

I would love Batum, but not at 11 mill per year - although he does expire after the 15-16 season.

yep, 3rd wheel should be around 7-9mill guy max and he's a 3rd wheel now barely doing much of nothing IMO for that salary. He's like a younger ver. of Iggy with less handling and play making abilities. People always use the "oh they do little things that dont show up on stat sheets," thats nice and all but for 11-12mill that Iggy/Batum gets I want them to take control of the team when the #1/#2 guy is sitting down, I hardly saw that out of Batum or Iggy for that matter, they had a good game here and there in the playoffs but I would need more than a "few" good games from my 3rd guy getting that much money.

by some miracle we get #1 pick, would anyone trade that to Phi for their 2 lottery picks? One being at least top 5 the other is 10th (NOP pick)

Yeah, I was thinking if we got the number 1, we trade with whoever has the number 4 + another piece.

The question is would the fan base go nuts by trading the first pick

I mean of course we could always miss out on the next great franchise guy in Wiggins but rarely do I see a consensus #1 decline in terms value through his college year and also he consensus now is he doe not have that "killer" mentality. Best case scenario for Wiggins is probably a Paul George type guy IMO.

I'd rather trade down to #2 & take Parker along with a solid player(Sanders if the Bucks get #2 etc.) than get an extra pick. Even if these draft picks turn out to be good players odds are it takes 3-4 seasons.

Say we do get a top 3 pick and end up with Embiid and then sign a good tier 2 FA...would anyone be willing to trade for Deron using Nash? Maybe Nash retires knowing he'll be in for a long year in BK and they dont have much gonig forward and its hella far from home. We pretty much go all in this off-season and still keep our 2016 plan as Deron, Kobe, maybe 2yr ext. Pau all expire, the Durant year.

Deron/Farmar/Marshall
Kobe/X
Bazemore/Wes
Pau/Hill
Embiid/Kaman

I'm thinking if we sign someone at 10-13 mill a year and give Pau 2 years 20mill contract maybe back loaded we could still do the Deron trade if Bk is willing to just dump him for expiring with Nash.

Owed $19,754,465 $21,042,800 $22,331,135..

About to turn 30..

Has never been the same since leaving Utah.. During Marshall's hot streak he put up better numbers than D-Will's this season..

I don't see us or anyone else taking on that contract.. Unless Utah gets Sloan back & he wants to reunite with Deron. If we had another 10M a season in bad contracts I'd consider it, but it's not worth it just to get out of 1 season of Nash. Guys like Lowry/Bledsoe are better players at this point & even on overpaid contracts they'd be cheaper than D-Will.

Acquiring Dwill is more of a Knicks move, definitely not a Lakers move

Yeah.. Amare is about the only player I can see any team giving up for D-Will.. Unless Detroit wants to get rid of both Jennings & Smith.

Trade the lottery pick or players and future picks for Anthony Davis not Kevin Love.

New Orleans would be stupid to trade AD for any pick in this draft. Infact I'd think hard even if someone offers me two top 5 picks for Anthony Davis.
