If he can do that for a yr he'll get his max for sure next year and it'll force Pho hands as well to trade him sooner to avoid risk of losing him for nothing.

If he's on a 1yr qualifying offer, he can't be traded without his consent, according to the CBA. But there's no way he would take the qualifying offer of $3.7M, too much of a risk for him considering his injury issues. His agent is bluffing and they'll probably eventually settle once they realize no one is giving him max this year.

I know thats why I said Bled/Agent is using us as leverage but aint gona work...at least I hope not in regards to the trade rumors with Randle. I'm ok getting Bledsoe on a bit of an overpay 13-14mill/yr but not giving them Randle.

Dallas and Philly might say the same thing about us.

no bledsoe to lakers.

the big reason lakers are holding out from signing a big free agent is because donald sterling will still own the clippers and doc rivers/chris paul will leave the team and sign with the lakers, for basketball reasons.

Ehhh....I'm not high on this dude, stays hurt and he's more into scoring for himself than setting up teammates. He gravy trained playing behind CP3 and now he's being over valued.

Exactly! This is like a back-up QB in the NFL that comes in and plays really well for a season.

Ask Scott Pioli how that max contract to Matt Cassel worked out in Kansas City...

I know we're comparing apples to oranges here but I would never pay top dollar for ONE good season. To any player in any league.

jeez its not like hill is always healthy anyway. if bledsoe is healthy and he's willing to sign for a reasonable contract, i'd do hill plus houston's pick in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't pay much for him. I don't want any more part time players. We need more durable players.

Today on the Jalen Rose podcast, a fan question asked about Monroe and Bledsoe. Jalen goes off on Lakers management saying they should have offered Bledsoe the max. Even though in the set up, he explained that teams didn't want to bog down their cap with restricted free agents while the first tier FA were available.

But some reason, Lakers management gets in lose/lose situation. Even though it is the Suns that can't sign their restricted free agents.

Jalen might have a point saying that Lin might not be as talented as Bledsoe. But it's strange that so many people are mad at Lakers for Bledsoe's future. You don't hear the other teams getting called out by the media.

Rose is an idiot. I thought the Lakers had a very good off season. They upgraded their roster with players on relatively short contracts and they got players of value. It might or might not translate to a great record, but there are players on this roster the Lakers can keep for the long run or flip to other teams for younger, higher upside players and draft choices. For example Boozer will give some good minutes and will be a good mentor for Randall, but next off season he can be resigned for a year or two or the Lakers might be able to do a S&T of his Bird rights to another team that desires him. PHX did something similar last year with Scola and got 2 serviceable players and a draft choice. There are several others that fit the same profile. The acquisition of Lin and a 1st round pick was also excellent.

Ignore Rose, the Lakers had an excellent offseason and have a new direction.

Jalen Rose has hated the Lakers since the day Kobe dropped 81 on his sorry ass.

Man that's the strangest crap I heard him say. Why the hell is it the Lakers problem to deal with Bledsoe ?

And what dumb ass GM was gonna offer that dude anything over 50-60 mil ? Then if the Lakers would've done something like that then all the media would've did was jump on them for giving a guy with 2 knee surgeries in his young career a killer deal, know it would've wrecked their future cap space....they would've criticized the Lakers all the way around.

Bledsoe is the Suns problem not ours.

Or try during his Pacers days when we beat him in the finals.

I have to say that this Bledsoe thing might be playing right into the Lakers hands. If he continues to bad mouth the Suns with more disparaging remarks - I could see them potentially dumping him this offseason for 75 cents on the dollar. They signed Thomas for a reason.

Maybe they go for a deal that includes Nash (gets to retire a sun), Clarkson (young 2-way guard) and the Houston pick for Bledsoe?

On top of that, Bledsoe pretty much guarantees that the Lakers wouldn't fall into the bottom 5 - thus practically guaranteeing the Suns get to keep the Lakers pick.

I have to say - I'm not exactly thrilled with the concept of paying Bledsoe a max deal BUT the Lakers are all about bold moves and this could pay off in spades given his age and what he's shown so far.
