I know.. I don't get it either, never understood how a plan that took no imagination gets so much credit for doing nothing. He was head of one franchise the 76ers and built a losing roster (on purpose) and lost games.. He's not some genius at team building from what we have seen. You lose enough over a period of years you're going to amass a pile of lottery picks, that's a no brainer, with those picks you pick the best guy available which is also a no brainer. He's just a numbers guy not a manager, that's why he's in Denver now crunching numbers for the Broncostamaraw08 wrote:I can't believe some fans here mention Hinkie as a replacement.
The guy ABUSED the lottery system by shameless tanking for like 5 straight years, finally got 2 great picks out of it.

Did not know that Pelinka has this much bad reputation. Where was the bad press when he was hired?
Pelinka was Carlos Boozer’s agent when the whole controversy occurred with Boozer convincing the Cavs to let him out of his deal so he could sign a longer one, only to turn around and leave to Utah.
Little reminder
Among the intriguing pieces of fallout was the decision by SFX, the company that represents Boozer, to disassociate itself from the player, a rare move that spoke to the bad public relations it must have received in the wake of the contract. The agent who worked out
the deal, Rob Pelinka, resigned from the company, as well. Many believe he was forced out.

If Jeanie is willing to offer someone the same full control that she gave Magic, what mess are we talking about? A guy like Bob Myers can step in, with Magic/Rob gone, and have a ton of cap space, no financial restrictions, numerous young assets, lottery pick, one of the best players in the game. It’s perfectly set up for anyone that wants to step in.
All the “issues” relate to how Magic/Rob handled their business, and they’d be gone.
A person in control would let Rob go, that’s implied I thought.

I read somewhere that Jeannie considers rob as part of the inner circle with Linda rambis. FML.

Re: Search for the next president
Riley showed a lot of love for Jeannie and the Lakers when he spoke at her dad's funeral... His tenure here didn't end the best, but I got the feeling then, that there was a path back to the Lakers, and I think he wouldn't mind coming back here for another run in some capacity.
Total long shot, obviously, but I could see him coming in and being like a father figure to Jeanie and Linda since they both were around for his last run.
But I also agree that he's not really been a world-beater in Miami with the teams he's built... Adding logo would make a lot of sense.

This cannot be ignored. We have heard rumblings all season but now we have people on other teams' staff flat out saying they can't work with Pelinka. Magic hinted that Pelinka was included in the "backstabber" comment.
He has to go. This is the right time. Enough of just hiring people from your circle. Get the right people.

I can't believe Pelinka is still f**ing here. The dude is a snake. And the fact that Jeanie hand delivered him when Magic Johnson took over is completely insane.
My targets:
1) Masai Ujiri - Gotta imagine this helps with Kawhi Leonard as well. He's tough, he's got the right winning mentality, etc.
2) David Griffin - Kyrie/LeBron ties, is high on Brandon Ingram, knows how to build teams and stand up to LeBron. He did everything in Cleveland with LeBron on 1 year deals. Imagine what he can do with long term LeBron security? I've been saying his name for months.
3) Michael Winger - as President, Jerry West as GM, Ryan West as Assistant GM. Ryan West and Winger serve as the day-to-day decision makers, Jerry West is brought in and consulted with prior to every transaction.
Bob Myers would fall somewhere after that.

Right on, good minds think alike! I highlighted the factors you listed that I find most critical. I'm feeling strong about Kyrie ---> LAL, because of their history, Kyrie's ball handling & shooting, and something that a lot of cats on here don't know:
Kyrie and Kobe are very very close, so I could see Bryant placing that recruitment call to Kyrie. If it turns out we get Griffin and Kyrie, you and me called it and can take some credit.
You can see I highlighted everything Lebron....
Love the idea of locking up #JerryWest but right now it looks like he's very very stable in #LAC.

What is the obsession w Riley? He is an anti tanker who has saddled Miami into mediocrity and bad contracts for how many years now? There are only a few good options here and that’s Myers, hinkie, or someone from the west family. Ryan west is sitting right in front of you. He has literally been flawless. Give the young guy a chance to step up and shine. He has proven himself so far

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Hinkie is massively over-rated... Not sure how you could read his goodby letter to the Sixers and still want him anywhere near your team... Dude's ego makes Elon Musk look like Ed Sheeran

You bring him on if and only if you want to get rid of legroin. That’s Jeanie’s call. His results rebuilding speak for themselves. And he has an analytical approach to roster building which this franchise sorely needs.

Bringing in west would be the biggest coup. You immediately destroy one of our biggest competitor for fa signing this summer while massively improving our odds. Guys in the league trust the logo to build a team. Someone mentioned ujiri... that would be great just don’t see him budging. I think the easiest/best course of action is elevating Ryan and using that to poach logo

I for once just want to see continuity, man. Whoever steps in, keep your young assets and build with them. I remember Kobe saying be patient with the roster then boom, fire sale...

West in a consultant role is fine or even as a temporary President to help find the right guy then back off into a consultants role, even Riles if that is what he'd want but for either being the acting PoBBO is something (to me) to avoid... I want stability, I'm kind of over the retirement tour landing spot for these guys. I'd much rather see somebody younger that will stick for more than 3 or 4 years.
You got two Buss kids that are in the FO that have lived and breathed basketball, same with Ryan West or somebody from the outside that looks promising. If you can get that West or Riley type to come in and mentor to me that's the best of both worlds. Whoever it is is in a tough spot. Lebron has two years left (3 if you count the option) so there's pressure to build around him but at the same time you do need to think long term and not screw things up by getting rid of the future while trying to build around Lebron. Both are hard to do but not impossible. Big hurdle is selling Lebron on it because if he doesn't everyone is going to look bad.
Wonder how Lebron would work with Riles.. they didn't have the best of goodbyes

Ryan West.
Then we should make a lucrative offer to Logo for exclusive consulting.
Pelinka can stay and count cap with the Buss fam.

If we could not get a high profile GM I have a gut feeling that Jennie would fire Pelinka and promote Ryan West.
But plan A would be poke one of the high profile GM in the league I think.
