Laughably bad for the Lakers
Yeah - I wouldn’t go that far. Might have an inflated sense of Lonzos value. But nonetheless thanks for the info.
What about Ball and pick 4 for Lauri and pick 7?

Haha. In a twist of irony, that makes a lot of sense. The Lakers aren't going to get AD for the 4th pick + filler now. New Orleans would make the trade for the 2nd pick to pair Morant and Zion, but at 4, they are much better rolling with a superstar and the potential next generational player. Your proposal though makes a lot of sense for the Lakers: they can add another lottery pick or two in the next two years and use the Zion plus LA appeal to draw a top FA in his contract year. Meanwhile, New Orleans can legitimately get a short shot at a title versus watching AD leave next year and Zion demand a trade in year 5.

Lauri is likely the only one in that deal that has a shot at being an all-star, so it doesn't make sense why the Bulls would want to do that. If there was an unprotected 2022 draft pick included, then I'd say they should go for it. At that point though, I think I would rather just throw in the towel and have a 2021 swap and the 2022 unprotected pick versus Lonzo included.

Any piece in the trade could be an all-star. Lauri health is questionable but yes he is the better player.
I think the trade would get thought about for both sides. Though Lakers probably to prefer to move Ingram and pick 4 for lauri and pick 7

A complete stroke of luck for a franchise that probably doesn't deserve it.
Trade it for Anthony Davis or Brad Beal.

With the 4th pick, first year salary is 7.0 million dollars.
They means Lonzo (8.7 mil), Ingram (7.3 mil) and 4th pick (7.0 mil), totalling 23.0 mil is sufficient money to get Davis (27.1 mil) and a minor salary dump up to 1.7 mil (Frank Jackson or Christian Wood).
Heck, if Davis wants it, the Lakers can throw in Wagner (2.0 mil) as well and actually give Davis his trade kicker (even though NO technically pays it, they can think of it as paying 4.1 mil for a late FRP Mo Wagner, heck Lakers can send the necessary cash considerations to make it even for NO)

Yes but if that happens then Lakers only have 27m to throw at Kyrie where his max is 32k.
Only way they get it all is to sign Kyrie first then make the trade for AD a month later after agreeing in principle with NO.

No, you sign your max FA first, then operate as an above the cap team.
You only need to wait 1 month after signing your draft pick to trade him

That's a tough month though plus you have to get Kyrie to sign without guaranteeing that AD will be there.

How do you operate as an above the cap team if you renounce everyone in order to sign the max FA?
