Indiana can say whatever they want. They are in denial. Doesnt mean its true. P.G made it clear he is leaving and where he is leaving to. He didnt want to pull a Lebron or a K.D so now Indiana is screwed.
They're trying to get as much as value for him as possible. Yet there is no legitimate offers out there for him. If there was then we would here about it. They better get what they can from us before that offers off the table.

That's what ive been sayin all along. You will never get full value for Paul George. You compromise and get the best you can get. Did we get full value for SHAQ? of course not, it cant happen, it wont happen. But Russ, Mozgov and a 1st rounder was the best you can get. And now with Indy passing on that deal, they are getting less and less. Indy had better get a deal done, or PG has already gave them and everyone else fair public warning. He is going to leave and become a LAKER.

So Magic was at the gym then went to a Dodgers game all the while a trade for D'Angelo was being negotiated in the background.

Everyone is guilty by association including Ryan West and Jesse Buss who scouted the hell out of D'Angelo before making that pick and now suddenly think he is floatsam on a salary dump.

I wonder if these scouting assessments and hearing Clarkson, Randle, and Russell all in these trade rumors is the reason the front office is so hesitant to go with what they are suggesting for the #2 pick.

They've fired the analytics department and we are going into draft and free agency without anyone doing that now. So who knows what the **** is happening behind the scenes?

Did the Lakers love who they thought they could get so much with the 27th pick that they dumped D'Angelo to get it?

The timing of it is pretty weird - why now? Couldn't they have gotten a low first with say, Julius Randle? Ok, to dump Moz? Well, the Lakers didn't need to dump Mozgov right now either, especially not with Brook Lopez coming in. Doesn't clear any salary this summer. Next summer, we'll have a max slot anyways, and there'd still be better ways to clear salary (Clarkson) rather than move D'Angelo.

Makes me think the Lakers had a package ready to trade that pick, and considering the reports of the Lakers' offer of 27, 28, and Clarkson/Randle for George, I think Indiana probably got cold feet, or wanted to burn the Lakers a little.

Kevin Pritchard just said George's desire to go to LA was a punch in the gut, so I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to kick us in the balls. Huge setback for Indy to lose George, it would be embarrassing and a bad precedent for them to get tooled by a player. Look how Phil is taking it in NY; lot of pride here at stake.

I'm just hoping the Lakers have more moves lined up, I want Lopez gone, I want this somehow to end up so moving Russell right now makes sense. Sorry, Kuzma isn't the answer either.

We got burned, or, there's something else lined up. Hard to believe Russell's value was so low, and the Lakers so desperate to move him now. But I feel we got burned.

I wonder if the Nets would have taken Randle/Moz/#28 just for capspace. Or they could ship out Lopez in the deal and take whatever value returned for themselves.

Makes me think the Pacers would have just taken Russell for PG straight up...

The Lakers, if they deal Julius Randle in addition to D'Angelo Russell, could end up without at least two of their high draft picks to squeeze out two max salary slots next summer; they dangled an unprotected first-round pick in front of every team with cap room to dump one of the toxic Timofey Mozgov/Luol Deng deals, sources say, and finding no takers, finally flipped Russell and Mozgov to Brooklyn. (Good job, Nets!)

One consolation is that the Lakers appear to have done a lot of due diligence before dropping D'Angelo as the floatsam to Mozgov's deal.

God damn, an unprotected pick couldn't even budge that contract? Who knows who might have to bend over to drop Deng now.

There was no urgency to trade D'Angelo to get rid of Mozgov right now.

Unless there was a blockbuster deal that required that 27 pick.

Or D'Angelo Russell had been a cancer to the team, and teams league wide somehow knew about this.

All things being equal, simply getting rid of Jordan Clarkson, who makes nearly as much as Mozgov, would clear enough salary for the Lakers to offer two max or near two max contracts by 2018.

Didn't have to dump Russell.

Unless, well, Pelinka and Magic know something we don't.
