if we end up with KAT, would that make this board more ecstatic than if we got okafor?

It'd make me happier, but i think most people will be happy regardless. I see a lot of Okafor love on this board.

Re: #2 pick: Okafor or Russell
May be I've been watching too many highlight videos now that it's all we have but man is D'Angelo Russell a beast with his shot. He has that Steph Curry release going where it's out in a split second in such an effortless manner. Starting to creep up to #2 for me. Just starting to fall in love with the idea of having the new age PF in Randle and the new age guard in Russell.
With Russell's range and vision and Randles face up game and bully like tendencies near the paint I can just envision a younger better version of cp3 and Griffin.

Cp and Blake haven't won ****, so that's not something to recreate. Likewise dangelo struggled greatly vs any team with nba level athletes. He's a ginobili more than a curry

116.5 Ortg, 62.8 TS%, 71 FTRate, 207-240 FT's @ 86.3 FT%, 61-148 3Pt for 41.2%
Get the rarity, go talented big in Towns or Okafor.

In all fairness to Russell he was all Ohio State had, so when they were playing good teams they could really solely focus on Russell. There may be 6 other Kentucky players drafted in this draft outside of a Towns and Okafor had Winslow and Jones to help take the heat off.

Anyone remember who D. Rose had with him in Memphis? or Who was with Blake in Oklahoma?

They all have their weaknesses. Okafor's offense struggled against guys his size. KAT is raw.

Re: rumor of swapping picks with minny?!?!?!
Well there could be something to it only if the Lakers are totally in love with Towns and have made this desire to have him at any cost "PUBLIC" which i dont think has happened but im no insider.
And why are we the ones to give a bit more to get the guy we want? We all have read the Wolves really want Oak! So why dont the lakers say we are taking Oak unless you give us ......XYZ?
Perhaps that happens perhaps it does not. Perhaps the wolves being in love with Oak is a smokescreen?
Everyone is keeping their cards so close to the chest right now ..i dont buy any of this stuff.

Re: rumor of swapping picks with minny?!?!?!
It's a Chad Ford rumor:
Edit: So it's basically 1 innocuous line
Reggie (MN)
Flip has always stated he looks "for the home run"...It's why he picked Shabbaz and LaVine. Based on that...why does he seem to favor Okafor over Towns? Especially since Towns plays better D, shoots better from the FT line, can run and spread the floor better, has higher upside....Is Flip just creating drama or is he really torn between the two? Seems like everyone else on the planet has Towns as the consensus #1.
Chad Ford (1:04 PM)
First of all, from July-February, Okafor was the consensus No. 1 guy. So it's not like he can't play. I think Flip see's Okafor as a major post up presence on offense -- a major need of the Wolves. But you're right. Towns has more strengths than Okafor, fewer weaknesses (if any) and I think he's a better fit with Gourgi Dieng and Pekovic. No question Towns can play some four in the NBA and be a nightmare match-up. Let's see what happens when they come in to visit with the team. I don't think the Wolves will get to see them workout together, and both guys are impressive off the court. But we're still three weeks away. Lots of homework going on. I think the Wolves will eventually decide to take him 1, or perhaps swap with the Lakers and try to pick up another asset.

This isn't a rumor, it's a suggestion based on a fan Q&A.
Merged with the #2 Pick thread. Please don't open a new thread when a post can go into an existing topic.
Changed the title of the thread, because it sounds like our decision won't necessarily be between Okafor and Russell. Towns may be there too.
