Good angle for lakers to play up. Lue is not a great developer of young players, he loves vets. Very byron-ish. Im telling you... between him leaking the original story and this issue, we may have avoided a major issue.

Only one on that list I'd consider is Vogel...
And even with all his faults Thibs is probably better than any of them...

This must be some advanced analytics **** I just don't understand...

If Thibs played Ingram with his (Tom) usual recommended playing time, Ingram would snap in half. These kids aren't ready for a dog of a coach like Thibs. ****, not LeBron either.

Clearly you haven't been watching Ingram the last 2 years... Check his PT under Walton...

I don't see why they are not going after top assistant coaches in the league. Names that seemingly pop up are Nate Tibbets (Blazers, offensive type and seemingly strong candidate), David Vanterpool (Blazers though defensive minded), Chris Finch (Pelicans but will probably be denied an interview). What's the status on Dave Joerger?

I can't buy into Kidd or Vogel.

Kyrie was not a fan of Lue. And honestly Kyrie might be their best get. Take him from the Celtics which blows up the AD trade possibility. HE's won with and dealt with the bs of LeBron before. HE loves Kobe which Pelinka can use.

I do not think Lue ending talks hurts the Kyrie sweepstakes at all, it probably boosts him coming. I also think you have to be all in on Kyrie because the pitch to everyone else is bs. And if you go to KD and/or Kawhi before the other they are going to call just that bs about being the primary choice with their resume and them being better than LeBron is.

I think Vogel is as good a coach as Lue and Williams.
I’d be happy if we get him.
I think he is more than a safe choice but actually a solid choice. A stabilizing influence.
I honestly don’t see what people saw in Lue as a coach and Monty’s offensive schemes are outdated in today’s NBA.
We might say the same about Vogel but I’m not devastated by not getting Lue or Williams frankly.
Get Vogel in and focus on getting one of the max FAs, and a few role players.
And then we’re a playoff team.

Just how bad is Vogel's relationship with LeBron-Rich-Paul?
Phil is not a fan... If he's advising us, you have to sort of question those motives...

Phil loves Luke, is not a fan of LeBron-RP... Even if he thought Lue was a great coach, if you asked him his preference, pretty sure he's going to look elsewhere.
And Rambis is basically a Phil-toadie... So across the board, it sounds like we have a real force driving a wedge between Jeanie and LeBron...

Which is not a great situation given how our team is structured right now.

That said, if LeBron saw it as a challenge to improve his overall image as a coach/FO killer, re-engaged and won with a coaching staff he didn't choose, I actually think we'd probably be better in the long run. I just don't see that happening at all.

LeBron is best available talent right now... Better than Kawhi, KD, etc... Just to keep things rooted in reality.

If I trusted that our FO had a plan to make us better without LeBron, and if I thought we were still the draw for FAs we used to be and didn't need top talent to attract talent, I'd be 100% on board trading LeBron and getting a FO/Coaching Staff that didn't totally cater to him... But I no longer even remotely think that...

Still say we should fire Pelinka and the Rambii, and beg Lue to come back to the table... Hell, beg Magic to come back too...

Unless we hear definitively, that no other FA is coming here to play with LeBron, we need to keep him as happy as possible at this point... Which pains me to say as a long time believer in the Lakers as Uber-Franchise concept...

Lakers and Lue end contract talks, now considering Vogel, L. Hollins, Mike Woodson, Juwan, Kidd

Vogel is good coach. Not sure why everyone hates on him here. He can legitimately coach. Paul George loved him. Dude can coach. This could be an underrated pick. Question if we didn’t have Lebron would many of you still hate frank?

The Vogel potential hire has to hinge on Lebron approval... At this point, we have to go with the guy he approves or why even fire Luke Walton?

I'm just going to wait this offseason out and then i'll judge where we are as a franchise.

We have to look at the track record. He was a defensive style coach. Could not dial up offensive schemes to win late in games. Thats why he was fired. Losses due to lack of offesnive execution late in games. Now...with a Solid staff, im sure and am hopeful that this can be remedied. That is...should he be hired. Hes pretty much a mike brown type hire. Knew defense, but ofensively challenged coach.

Vogel is really no worse than Lue and better than Kidd. But the big question is what does Mr. James have to say about him.

I don't think he'd accept a assistant role but Joerger would be a good get. If someone in our "front office" has such a hard on for Kidd just frickin hire him as a consultant to work with Lonzo. Just keep him away from the coaching staff.

Although I wouldn't let that snake into the house at all. Can only cause problems down the road.

Watched that GS win last night and kept thinking back to all the content ya'll express here.
Keeping in mind our concerns demonstrated here amongst ourselves,
I took some of thoughts shared here and directly watched how Curry/Klay etc interact with Kerr throughout that game.
What I saw was how Kerr indirectly seemed to be the 6'th man on the floor; however staying within his coaching mode.

That's something I would like existing in a head coach we hire; considering LbJ and free agents.
Kidd had that floor leadership.
Ball movement obviously.
I could actually imagine him somewhat alike Kerr with that mental communication
Phil in the same way.
That we have that "in between" from the playbook to actual in game application.

Makes me think it's about the symmetry of everyone seeing it the same and watching it evolve with execution.

Lue bugs me for some reason.
I still feel he gets out coached by the better HC's he faces.
