Would you guys take a chance on Andris Biedrins? He used to be at least a solid starting C and I think in the role of a defensive PF perhaps down the line with a mid-range he'd be a great fit next to Pau Gasol especially. Perhaps he's miscast as a C in Golden State where he can be pushed around in the post.

I'm suggesting Walton+Barnes+Ebanks+Caracter for him.

if that were the package sure but doubt GSW would trade their only legit C for that group.....and I'm not sure you watch enough GSW ball but if you see how he shoots FT's you wouldn't want him shooting jumpshots, he is the Rondo version of bigs, bad at FT's and bad at perimiter shooting as well.

brought this up in the trade forum but how would you guys feel bout this 2 step process?

Bynum/Blake
to Minn
for #2/Wes/Magic Randolph

2nd part
#2/Caracter/High 2nd/Future 1st
for
Hibbert/Collison/1st pick

We address 4 position with this trade along....get the young athletic backup in Randolph/Wes, upgrade the PG spot and add a 1st rd pick that could net us another PG/Wing/Big man for role player spot.

The Lakers are probably focused on one thing for Bynum and that's Dwight Howard. I doubt they split up his value.

Tough to say what they'll do. Wouldn't something simpler like paying 3m+41+48 to move up and get Nolan Smith be the easiest way to add a new PG. Then sign a decent backup SG for the MLE, combine the late 2nds to gets say Keith Benson, sign a veteran C and keep Vujajic's exception be the simplest plan. That way you have options down the line as to what you actually want to do.

Those 2nd rounders can each probably be upgraded about 10 spots each for 750k each. Moving up to 31, 36, 45, and 48 would net a much better range of players and would not be all that expensive. Might net two solid players that way.

Lakers have also been pretty adamant about not trading Gasol although the topic has not really come up. They've always been a bit harsher on Lamar. Any chance he gets traded for a couple assets and the Lakers add say Tayshaun for the MLE, S and T for K-Mart from Denver to replace him? I could see Odom netting a real solid pick in this draft, perhaps two mid-first round picks.

Well someone has to be moved. Either Gasol or Bynum. We will end up keeping the 6th Man of the Year without a question, Lamar isn't going anywhere. Besides Lamar wouldn't net us nearly as much as trading Gasol would. We'd get a lotto pick + prospects or an Iguodala for Gasol.

With Adelman it's more likely Gasol is kept so I guess it's time to search or a C that can do what the Lakers need. If Chucky Hayes can do the job for the 3rd ranked Houston offense think Anderson Varejao can do it for the Lakers with Gasol playing the role of Scola. We'd get the 4th pick as well and perhaps draft Kemba Walker.

I'm still trying to come up with a C that can fulfill the Princeton offense role next to Gasol, but it's difficult to find a guy that isn't soft. The best fit I found was actually Bogut. He can play good defense, guard his man, isn't soft, can hit the mid-range and pass well. I think he'd be an excellent fit which is what in the end is most important not just the talent you put out to play.

If the Lakers take on Salmons monstrous deal and Bogut for Bynum I think both parties come out ahead. The Lakers have a complete bench at the wing positions, the right fit at C, with the MLE, the TPE, and their draft picks still ready to go. Then you draft Nolan Smith with all of your 2nds combined to move up, sign a veteran backup big man and you're 100% ready with players that fit perfectly well with Adelman.

I lke Bogut but he is just as injured as Bynum so I'd rather keep Bynum. Bynum is not that bad of a passer. I'd like to get Salmons though. He seems like a perfect fit for us. I'd trade Blake,Walton and Caracter for Salmons. Then either sign a free agent PG like Aaron Brooks or trade for one like Jonny Flynn or Lou Williams.

Bogut has a stronger mid-range game at least from what I've heard (sorry I just remember him from a couple years ago) and is a very good passer. I see him as a perfect to be basically Brad Miller with defense and rebounding which is what you want in Adelman's offense. For the first time the offense would click with a well sized front court. With Bynum you're always trying to find his fit in the offense. With Bogut now you have Kobe posting up with no shot-blocker to help or Artest inside there. Gasol fills in Scola's role without too much trouble and you can play more of a scoring PG as well. Just a cohesive offense.

Who is worth more Bynum or Bogut?

Bynum and Bogut are pretty much worth the same, except Bogut is a little less athletic and at the same time doesn't have the same knee issues though he has a tendency to get injured a lot.

Bogut is one heck of a defender though but he had some rather unpleasant words for Kobe in the past.

I remember that it was in 2005 before the draft.

As far as simple improvements it's a slightly stupid way of evaluating player additions, but adding Toney Douglas and Jordan Farmar would be worth 7 wins according to the trade checker. On a serious note though I do think they could add two players like that and they'd be productive a shoot-first PGs in a Rick Adelman offense.

dont know why you guys want Bogut, for as bad as Bynum knees could be Bogut is far worse with his elbow issue and migranes (this I know because I had him 3yrs ago on my fantasy team, he would be out almost every other week for 2-3 gms at a time), he still had several DNP this year due to it. As for cavs deal, I prefer that #4/Varjao/Gibson for Bynum, maybe asking a bit much for Bynum but considering Clev dept at PG might as well try fro Gibson, he can be that spot up guy to spread the floor for us and AV been pretty injury prone himself over the years. Maybe take it a step further and send Sasha TPE for Sessions and use Session/Gibson backcourt from time to time off the bench. #4 should be used on another big just case.

If S. Brown takes his player option what would you guys think about flipping him to the Jazz for Bell?

im a big toney douglas fan, if the lakers could package a re-signed brown or ebanks/caracter for him, id be a happy camper.

i think he has a much MUCH higher upside than brown because he actually has a BBIQ.

Rashard Lewis is another guy I think we'll give a shot to if he's cut. Always berated for that contract he can defend average players at both forward positions and is an excellent shooter who can post up a smaller player and take a bigger player off the dribble. In this past Dallas series he could have guarded Shawn Marion and forced Marion to stay on him due to his ability to post-up (far more skilled at this than Ron Artest). Really a player that just has not gotten his due because of that contract.

Against Miami: can play against James Jones, Mike Miller, Ilgauskas, Anthony, and perhaps even Haslem (negates his defensive rebounding or forces the shorter Haslem to play either Bynum or Gasol in the post.

Against Chicago: Might be able to get away playing him against Taj Gibson and perhaps Asik. Bogans is another guy he could guard.

Against OKC: Ibaka, Sefolosha, Collison, and perhaps even Perkins won't score enough to offset how much he brings to the table as a shooter.

Against Dallas: Might not be a worse bet on defense against Dirk than Pau was. Can guard Marion, can stick with Peja, and Corey Brewer.

Guy brings quite a bit to the table. I hope he breaks loose.

#4, AV, gibson for bynum is a pipe dream, but it really answers a lot of our problems. we get a backup/starting big in AV, an excellent 3pt shooter/bench player in gibson, and knight/walker at PG.

its strange because even though the lakers would be getting back all those very nice pieces, id still have a hard time parting with bynum....

Last suggestion for the night. Is there any way to get Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli on this Laker team along with say a Tiago Splitter?

Perhaps for Gasol for those two and Splitter. I can only imagine how incredibly good the Lakers would be with those guys. Not even somewhat better, but remarkably better.
