Not sure if BOS does that...

What of Pierce/KG for Dwight/Metta

Nash/Kobe/Pierce/KG/Pau would give MIA/OKC all they could handle.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

youre not sure if boston would trade gasol for KG, yet you think proposing pierce/KG for howard/metta is reasonable? funny stuff.

I wouldn't trade Gasol now that he is playing well. But I don't think he will be too happy playing off the bench past this season. We can't trade Gasol until we know that Howard will resign so trading Gasol will have to wait until the offseason if we do in fact trade him. I don't see a trade with Boston likely this season as if they trade KG then they would be rebuilding and would want younger players so Gasol would have to be dealt to a third team to make the trade work. We would also need a backup C since Hill is out for the year and Sacre isn't ready yet to be the backup C. Doesn't make sense at this time. Although I would trade for him this offseason if Howard resigns. Howard and Garnett would be a great frontcourt especially on defense. I don't think Garnett would be enough for Gasol so I would hope another player like Courtney Lee would be included. I wouldn't mind seeing our roster look like this next year:

PG-Nash/Blake
SG-Bryant/Lee
SF-MWP/
PF-Garnett/Clark
C-Howard/Hill

Gross indeed! What's more gross is we're pretty much forced to stick with Pau at this point if we're to make any serious playoff run this year. Trading for a small forward, a huge need of ours, leaves us woefully thin a the center position. (As many have already pointed out).

What we could really use now is a pg that can pass and get dribble penetration to back up Nash. Unfortunately this doesn't describe Steve Blake. It looks like we're forced to continue with the Kobe experiment and hope it keeps working. Wish we had other options but things aren't so bad. Nash has looked pretty good as a SG even.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

Kevin Martin is a SG and plays for OKC  but I like your trade none the less :D I'd like to add Mem in since they want to dump Rudy

Mem
Duhon, Fields, Ed Davis, some future picks

Tor
Pau, Rudy

La
Lowlry, Bargani, Petrious

we get a great backup PG on a trial run, Bargs can be that decent floor space or a backup C to Howard at times. Mem gets out of Rudy big contract for Fields smaller contract, duhon contract not guranteed next year and Ed Davis could be a solid big for them off the bench in place of Speights who've they just traded. Tor goes all out to make a playoff push and pairs Pau with Jose and Gay gives them eliete SF offensively.

Watch the Calderon situation. If he becomes a Grizzly it's very possible he won't be there for long. Perhaps L.A. offers to use their exception in order to facilitate a buyout. Memphis would save an additional 1.8m.

WT: TOR/MEM looking for 3rd team to take calderon

Post#690 » by hongdayuan » Tue Jan 29, 2013 8:09 pm

We need Mitch to do some magic to get involved in this trade. Steve Blake + salary filler. Help the future plans to get a huge expiring contract while memphis might like to take on smaller contracts to try to save some money. Calderon could be a better playmaker than blake as well.

We should definitely try to snag Calderon as a third team here somehow

Toronto gets the best player in the deal and a backup PG for Lowry? Memphis gets club controlled young, athletic talent that improves their depth after the Speights trade?

PG Lowry
SG Derozan
SF Gay
PF Davis
C Valanciunas

That's an extremely athletic team. You can even take out Aaron Gray, so the Raptors still have front court depth, and the trade still works.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=aexrraj

Actually, I would roll with that trade^. That saves Memphis $3 mill right off the bat.

Memphis gets: Dudley, Duhon, and Alan Anderson plus L.A.'s 1st

Pheonix gets: Terrence Ross, Ed Davis

L.A gets: Calderon

Toronto gets: Gay, Blake

Memphis saves close to 8m this year alone via the deal, saves a huge amount next year, gets the very reasonably priced/reliable Jared Dudley to fill-in as Shane Battier did, and gets a first rounder.

L.A. gets their guy while sending away expensive talent for next year (They add salary this year, but they drop salary dramatically next year when the tax is much more severe). It's something like 2.5m in salary extra this year as opposed to 7.5m in triple tax dollars next year. So 5m versus 21m (unless you count amnesty which makes it 17m). Either way, huge savings for L.A. which they can use to resign Calderon for a very reasonable deal.

Pheonix exchanges a role player and a medium level pick that they want behind Beasley for a starting PF and a new SG.

Why is toronto trading both Ross and Davis?

Lakers
Lowry
Bargs
Kleiza

Memphis
Gasol
Ebanks

Toronto
Gay
Morris
