Whatever the case is, it seems to be incredibly tough to stop small PGs, a perimeter scorer, and multiple post-up threats. If the Lakers can acquire Brandon Jennings that could put them over the top. They'd be too balanced on offense for an opposing defense to adjust to them.

I would love Brandon Jennings and he is actually a pretty good on ball defender, from what little I've seen. Unfortunately, unless Odom/Gasol/Bynum is involved, we don't have the assets to acquire him.

Honestly though how much of a difference is there between spending all of those assets to acquire Jennings versus practically nothing for Farmar, in a system catered to him. Jennings is better but we're so strapped for assets we might end up going bargain bin.

Trade Gasol/Walton to WSH for Blatche/Lewis/6th pick. Then do something like Blake/Caracter/Ebanks/6th pick for Jennings. Milwaukee could then draft a big man to pair along with Bogut or pair up the 6th and their original pick and trade up to draft a Knight or Walker.

David Stern would do it.

So we get Blatche, Lewis, and Jennings out of Gasol? Not too high on that one. The one thing that may be able to carry the Lakers over Miami over next year (if they can get there anymore) is that decided advantage at the C position for 48 minutes. The Laker big mans can and should be that much better.

Yeah as I was typing it, it started to seem like a dud deal. But the initial thought behind it was that we trade for Jennings and then couple Bynum + Blatche/filler and try to make a play for Howard.

Let's look at it this way:

- What's the cheapest alternative for a PG in the league that can hit the 3, defend at an good level, drive moderately well, and play within a not quite ridged but not overwhelmingly flexible offense.

- What's the cheapest alternative for a PG that can defend at an above average level and do the same while perhaps coming from a different style of game.

- What's the cheapest alternative to a SG that can hit the 3, defend, and drive somewhat well.

Those are the three primary needs. I think it's more about the dynamics of the offense as well as the players. You need to become unpredictable on offense, and legitimate on defense. Nothing exceptional, no Nick Young off the bench, no Chris Paul starting PG, just something to expand the team into something more impressive.

Jennings doesn't fit any of those criteria. He's an average to above average defender at best. He is NOT a good shooter and he just makes bad decisions. The lakers need none of those things. I like his potential, but he isn't going to help us now.

Bynum for curry/biedrens is our best option. Curry can spread the floor, is a good playmaker, and maybe most importantly, has a lot of potential. I can see his effeciency going up a bit playing next to Kobe/Gasol as opposed to Ellis/Lee. I just love his game and think he can remedy a lot of our problems. Plus Gasol will get to play more with odom and I think he's more comfortable with that.

And if biedrens can return to any sort of form, he will be a serviceable center.

I have a hard time letting Bynum go with how good he was this year and but we are win now mode, and I think curry gives us a better shot. It's a bit of addition by subtraction as well. I know that sounds crazy, but not only would Gasol be more comfortable, fisher would also see a lot less minutes.

I'd imagine we could try to move Blake on as well for a late pick, or just convince fish to retire.

Bien is DONE, dude has gotten worse and worse since he signed that big contract. As for Curry, he remedies the offense, he doesnothing on D, you would think you guys can see that seeing as how often we play GSW, when Fish can beat him off the dribble you got problems  . His shooting is suspect to boot, you think Kobe/Pau will appreciate him going off and chucking on his own? He's not a stand still shooter, he likes to shoot on the move which he'll need the ball to do that.

Lamar Odom for Harden+Collison

Would you do this trade? I know it's not very likely, but I'm getting wet thinking about such a possibility.

OKC wouldn't do this. If I were them I'd keep Harden over Westbrook.

Tonights game showed how important Harden is to their team. He fouls out and the offense just dies out. They need what we need, 3PT shooters. So no way we get this trade :(

So now curry is a chucker, will take shots from Kobe and Pau (even tho he is more efficient than Kobe), and fish is a comparable defender???

You have no idea what you are talking about.

You just described what the exact opposite of Stephen Curry is.

Except for defense, he's pretty **** there.

You know what's funny is that Dallas is up 3-1 against OKC yet somehow we're too old?

The Laker roster without the gigantic hole that is Derek Fisher and Shannon Brown is honestly better than theirs. Another note for this trade thread:

- Dirk is so **** efficient because he has two guys in Kidd and Berea that constantly create plays. Jet can get into the paint if not guarded well and Stevenson is even a decent offensive player.

- Kobe on the other hand does everything.
