One of the things I'm most looking forward to is Nash re-working the team's offense. Brown isn't a really hands-on offensive coach anyway, and the addition of Nash immediately makes it worth their time to run a crap-ton of off-ball sets that Nash can implement anyway. Step back Bynum's involvement in iso sets just a little, but run him and Pau in tons of PnRs, and get Kobe going.

With Nash playmaking, Bryant is relieved of the need to pound the ball on the dribble and can get a lot more good looks. Some of what we saw this year was Kobe working a lot around that Gasol down screen that sends Kobe cutting up and across to the opposite elbow for the J, so there should be spamming of that play more frequently. But also finding Kobe open as a shooter while the primary action is in the PnR, and also just moving him around all over the place in general. Picking up the pace, exploiting the team's competitive advantage at defensive rebounding (coming off of leading the league in that regard) to step up from the 20th pace in the league as a way to inject some more life into the offense...

It's going to be extremely fun to watch the differences in the team offensively between this past season and this upcoming season. Plus, the raw fact of Nash's shooting ability and dynamic play at the point compared to Sessions and Fisher and Blake from previous seasons, that's going to be huge as well. It's going to basically donkey-punch defenses, even if Nash is playing only 31 mpg.

I fully expect him to end back up in Houston if NY matches the contract for Lin.

Is Brooks looking for big money?

Lol hopefully we strengthen our bench where that doesn't happen on a nightly basis.

We need to resign Hill now. Hes the perfect backup big we need to run along nash when bynum or pau get in foul trouble, Nash will really help improve hills offensive game.

And no, Nash can't contain Westbrook, etc... But those guys are going to have to work damned hard on D now, which will make them less effective on offense.

Nash/Kobe will make every perimeter D have to work hard, and Gasol/Bynum(Howard) will do the same inside... Harden is going to have to work harder now too...

So Nash may not be a vast improvement positionally on D, but I think our D is going to be much better this year as a result of his Offense.

Why? The last time the Lakers picked in single digits with their own pick was when?

1975 - Dave Meyers. And he didn't even play for LA, traded for KAJ.

A bit nitpicking really but Bynum was #10 and not single digit.

That was the case in Phoenix last 2 years. The Suns were really good with Nash on the court and really bad with him on the bench. Just look at this list.

It's not a nitpick, but Magic and Worthy WERE the Lakers' own picks. He needs to add another condition to his question.

Last time LA had a top 9 pick that they didn't pick up in trade. By then, it's a rather meaningless question.

But those picks originally came from other teams, I think he was implying?

Yeah the whole premise was based on the lakers not sucking hard enough to come up with a single digit pick from the lottery by virtue of wins/losses.

The moment you realize that you finally accept being a Nash fan after all the years cheering against the Suns.

I always liked Nash... But I hated everyone else associated with that team except Gentry.

I get a kick out of how much Steve Nash looks and talks like a young Clint Eastwood. The comparisons will grow even more if the Lakers start kicking butt with a Dirty Harry like Steve Nash. :D
