Also, When Jim Buss acquired Nash I think he envisioned a return to the showtime era Lakers. Nash being able to run and gun leading our high powered offense featuring Kobe, Pau, Dwight and Jamison off the bench. We DEFINTELY have a high powered offense when healthy and utilized correctly but running and gunning isn't the best style for this team. A slow down more methodical offense with the ball running through the post each play is best for our team. Unfortunately this fails to utilize Nash's abilities and the fact Nash isn't a great defender hurts us considerably also. How much better would we be with a guy that can shoot close to as well as Nash but is a much better defensive player? or would we not be better at all? I love Nash and was really hoping he'd help us get back to the finals but I'm not convinced he's the right fit.

Oh how sweet it would have been getting the haters mad with Nash getting a ring!

I don't see a trade for Bargs, but if one were to occur, could it look something like this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bfsypxr

Too little return for Pau IMO, but just throwing it out there.

LAL gets Bargs, DWill, Roy's contract

Its possible.... In all honesty though, Bargs was a fringe all star last year, in the right environment he will go back to the level.

If you take a look at Pau's numbers following the benching, you get a good idea of what he would put up as a full-time starter. On the right team he's still 20-10.

In the summer as an expiring contract, opposing teams can't complain about a financial problem acquiring Pau (the trade would be nearly even money). A 32-33 year old finesse C producing 20/10 for a similar valued contract? That has to have some value. Not just decent player value, but perhaps an elite prospect value, someone that can help into 2014.

Let's say that an opposing team has a lotto pick they don't like, they may simple say let's Pau Gasol instead and throw a similar amount of cash in role players towards L.A.

It'll be similar to a Vlade Divac trade

two busts and a player who's currently contemplating retirement again and can't stay on the court. too little is right.

Pau had 23 points on 10-18 shooting and 10 rebounds today in the Lakers victory over Detroit. We should definitely hang onto the guy until it's clear we're out of the playoff picture. Especially with Dwight's health being uncertain for the time being.

If we lose four or five games in a row or lose 5 out of our next 10 games all but guaranteeing we can't make the postseason then our team needs to start getting ready for the 2013/14 season and if that means trading Pau now to shed salary or acquire younger pieces I'm all over it.

Kobe and Pau have played nicely together lately. Their recent play reminds me how they played together during the championships years. I really really really hope they have one more run in them. It can happen, I'm not saying it's likely to happen just saying it can happen, if we figure out how to slow games down so we're not so gassed in the fourth Q. We almost did it to ourselves again today. The pace of the game throughout the second and third quarters was not the type of pace that's going to preserve our aged legs for the fourth Q. We don't want 2 hour games. We need to play 3 hour games if that makes any sense. Lots of play stoppages and very few fast breaks. That's the style of ball that plays into our hands and gives us a chance to win.

We need to beef up our bench, gain financial flexibility, and not sway away from trying to go for lebron.

Best partner is Milwaukee, I keep stressing this.

If we beef up our bench, we don't need Dwight. He is not a leader.

I don't see how we can trade Pau with Dwight's health, ie labrum, in question and Jordan Hill on the DL. Unless, of course, we trade for another center and what would the point of that be? Pau has been playing well these past few games as a starter in his natural position. Sure he's still soft and not a great defender but he's been playing very decent ball.

An idea to consider would be to move Dwight for a legit PF/combo guard but what team is going to give up assets for Dwight when there's no guarantee D12 will stay beyond the rest of this season?

It seems to me like we have no choice but to keep Pau and hope we can figure out a lineup to best utilize his talents. At this point it almost feels like we'd be better off bring Dwight off the bench but we all know that would never fly. That would be the surest way ever to get him to leave once the season is over.

What's the answer? Grrrr! Feels like there has to be something we can do to help our perimeter D and shooting without having to give up Dwight or Gas...
