Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
I honestly feel bad for Laker fans but most of all for Kobe. It felt as though he was Dwights babysitter. Thats the perception I got anyway. Don't hold your collective breaths for a concrete decision on wether he'll sign or not and good luck.

Shannon Brown
Devean George

Robert Horry
I believe he was referring more to franchise players getting max money.

Most of those guys were told they were not wanted. We signed Artest before Ariza, Shannon was asked to leave, same with Barnes. Devean was toast. I don;t recall AC Green and Grant but Horry wanted the playoff bonuses, so ended up signing for Spurs.

Why are you trolls so worried about it ?Patman wrote:Kevaroo wrote:It seems as if everyone is down playing the Dwight/Kupchak exchange when he was walking through the tunnel. That was a very telling sign, not a good one either. Have there been a rumblings as to what was really said? Please don't say he was saying it to a fan or he was yelling at the refs. Anyone believing that is a fool.
Well, of course, they're gonna downplay it.
It's been confirmed by media sources here that it wasn't directed at Mitch.......stop trying to make it more than it is. It's over and done with already.

Just watch. He can't handle it here. If he stays then Kobe must come back as good as ever as Dwight can never carry a team. He quit on you guys yesterday and has always been a mental midget to those in the know.. Magic knows what he's talking about. I'm glad he's your problem and not ours.

Patman wrote:Dwight is gonna be looking out for himself. He probably takes the most money and re-signs, but I would be cautiously optimistic about what will happen if he comes back. He'll try to get everything his way. He will try to get MDA fired (this one's actually not a bad thing, even though Phil's not coming back). And don't be shocked if he quits on the team and tries to force a trade out if things aren't going well to start the season. Dwight has the body of a lion and the heart of a house cat. This dude cannot hold Kobe's jock. Shaq was right, there's only one Superman.
If he quits we have a huge trade chip to improve our team. If he doesn't, we have our interior defense locked up. Dwight is no Kobe/Shaq but he is our best bet right now, with Kobe almost done.

Dwight could be Bill Russell if he wanted to. Unfortunately he thinks he has to score and be the main focus of an offense, Not happening.

Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
The problem is Dwight's a PF with limited offensive skills who's hidden that fact by playing close to the basket. He's not a true center and needs to recognize that he needs to expand his skill set to soften the blow when his physicality starts to falter. If he doesn't want to be Russell, he needs to work harder to be Hakeem or Malone.

I'm not even sure Mitch touched him... But it sure seems like that motion triggered all this...

These guys are a byproduct of playing in a balanced system, playing with a Kobe Bryant most likely leads to not being as productive as they are now with their teams.
You guys get too choked into the moment of defeat and don't think with a clear conscience. You start thinking these players I'm seeing mentioned on the board will just suddenly propel us to championship level. They're all ROLE players, yeah they could help if playing off the bench. But if these guys are starters what does that tell you about those teams ?
And truth be told some of those teams weren't that much better than us even when they were the ones that didn't suffer all the injuries we did.
agree...
healthy kobe, nash, and metta means we're playing game 5, 6, or 7, and probably winning.
the spurs don't seem like that great of a team. the warriors, clippers, and grizzlies can very easily eliminate them.

@LakersNation: I'm at Dodger Stadium and fans just booed loudly when Dwight came onto the screen to read the Code of Conduct. Oh boy. DB

I thought we couldn't receive a S&T player?

pretty sure its the opposite, ie, we can't S&T a player because that's extending our payroll. we can do the opposite, since it involves trading a player on contract and therefore not extending our payroll through a loophole
its to prevent 1 team from outspending other teams to success
